Do you own a two-car door? They seem to be an endangered species these days. Even pickups are usually 4-door these days.
Two-door cars

Cars themselves, 2 doors or 4 doors, are going the way of the dodo bird. GM, Ford and Chrysler have dropped most of their car lines in favor of pick ups and SUVs.
Of course, Toyota, Honda, Kia and Hyundai manage to make decent cars as well as decent profits, something that has always eluded the Big 3.

I don’t want a pick up truck and I am not an SUV lover. All my cars have been sedans and my last car will be a sedan.

No, OP, all of my doors are one car cause I’m po.

The last one I had was a 1995 Civic coupe. I hate being a passenger in the back of a two-door car. It feels claustrophobic.

Audi S3 - in reality three door including the hatch.
Love it - I rarely carry more than one passenger and if numbers three and four can’t deal with the back seat then it’s not my problem.
Plus it means that the doors are longer and open wider.

R6, I guess you don’t live in an area with extremely tight parking. That was one of the biggest reasons I got rid of my two-door car. I could barely open the door in a parking spot.

R7 I live in a city of 5 million people so it’s not exactly roomy but I take your point - that can be problematic.

r7, how exactly would a 4-door car be better in a tight parking spot?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 4, 2020 10:29 PM |
R9, I’m not R8 - R7 here - because the doors are narrower and so can be opened wider.

I like things that are longer and other things that open wider.

I own a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit. I purchased it brand new in March 2009 because it has significantly more front leg room than the 4 door Rabbit.

I own a three door truck. WHET 3door vehicles?

r13 I bet you also have 3 testicles.

I've owned two four-door sedans and one two-door coupe. I'm in the process of buying my next car, and am open to either option.

I've always had 2-door cars. Yes, the doors are longer / wider so that back seat passengers can get in and out. Yes, it's easier to have the shorter doors in a parking lot situation.
At my old job, I drove 4-door company cars. I liked them for one reason: I could store my stuff in the back seat, driver's side. Easier access than using the trunk or the front passenger seat (for storage).

No. My last 2-door was 1999-2006, my Honda Civic EX coupe.
I do still have a sedan though and even they are endangered species. As long as I drive a sedan, I generally don't need the back seat for passengers. But, I do put stuff regularly in the back seats and it is easier to get out with a 4-door ( i have a traditional trunk, not a hatchback).

That would make him E.T.

I have a two door Jeep Wrangler and kinda hate it. I can’t even get in the back seat.

I can remember when insurance was based on the number of doors. Two door cars paid a bit more.

I’ve always hated that front-seat-pushed-forward to get into the backseat business
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 4, 2020 11:39 PM |
I have a 4-door which makes taking a dog along much easier. I have one of those back-seat hammock protector things that just wouldn't work in a 2-door.

As a back seat passenger, two door coupes are absolutely impossible to exit from gracefully. I always seem to end up with one foot out, one leg folded behind while I try to squeeze my lower half out, trying to keep an unbothered expression on my face.

Last 2-door I had was a '72 Monte Carlo.

How often do you actually have more than one other person in your car?
It is such a rare occurrence for me that it does not impact my decision. (I think I have three people in my car maybe every two years.)

I have a 2 door Wrangler and I love it. The backseat is permanently down and covered with a huge dog pillow so I can take my dogs out. I don't have kids, run carpools, or drive for Uber so I never need to use the back seat for people.

I never have a back seat passenger. Only seldom do I have a front seat passenger. All of the A/C vents in front are pointed at the driver, me.
My back seats can fold down to make a bigger trunk area, but I keep the seats up.
