I have never fundamentally understood the success of her Brand.

In an act of desperation, I became a fan of the Sports Illustrated/Victoria's Secret models when the official supermodel era began to wane. Part of it was because I was a closeted gay teen and it was socially acceptable to lust after them, but I also found them (Tyra, Heidi, Rebecca) to be more fun than the women the industry was promoting (Amber, Shalom, Maggie).

Tyra was one of my favorites in the late 90s, and I thought it was admirable how inspiring she likely was for young black girls. However, by the time her talk show came around it was clear she had become a self-absorbed megalomaniac. I now find her insufferable and actively avoid anything she appears in.

If you're ever board, try to find an interview clip of Tyra from the last 10 years where she doesn't say "I' "me" or "my" 1,000,000 times.

Tyra is very exhausting and annoying but she was inspirational to many young black women. She was a decent actress for the roles she did in the 90s and 2000s. Her talk show though was a big mistake and showed her true self to be bitchy, arrogant and narcissistic and a lot of it aged like spoiled milk. America's Next Top Model was an innovative cool concept at first but quickly became garbage fest of bullying, tacky stunts and emotional manipulation for Nielson ratings. Tyra's ego was out of control on ANTM and she seemed like more like a narcissistic mother who would praise you one minute but tear you down the next.

Naomi Campbell, her "rival" was a high fashion and critically acclaimed model and is much more beautiful, eloquent and poised.

However, lately I have sided with Tyra because Naomi is an evil despicable human being who not only is verbally and physically abusive to her staff and got involved with warlords and human traffickers which is unforgivable

Both are trash but Tyra at least tried to help others and built a brand of inclusivity despite her many flaws.

I remember that “moment”. It gave me life back in the day, but now I’m kinda like “whatever, Tyra”.

It’s always women who make a name for themselves for being hot and wearing skimpy shit that then want to preach body positivity when that ass gets a few more lbs on it. Being fat hasn’t stopped any number of women who just were big. Nobody cares about Adele or Lizzo being big. If and when Beyonce starts porking up it’s going to be a story because we’ve been inundated with a thousands images of her with her ass out.

Tyra is entertaining in a tragic way because she's so soft, needy and insecure despite her wealth and success.

Well, Adele cared about being fat, which is why she had some kind of surgery and is not fat anymore.

I always thought it was strange that she seemed to be making the statement that weight doesn’t matter, but I remember right after those photos came out she lost about 50-60 lbs and you see her in this episode after having lost that weight in the same bathing suit. To me it seemed she didn’t want to be stigmatized as being overweight, she was so used to being seen as a beauty/model/ sex symbol and quickly lost weight when these pictures emerged, but comes out on the show with an opposite message.

Tyra wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants to go on about natural beauty and telling girls to be confident in their skin. But she's a big hypocrite about this just like every other famous woman. Tyra had a nose job, constantly sports weaves and wigs, is obsessed with dieting (and likely has lipo) and is happy to have her images photoshopped. Plus Tyra is light-skinned with green eyes, so she already benefited from the European beauty standards he claims to fight so hard against.

I still remember that episode of her talk show when she harshly criticized this Asian-American lady for having her monolids cut and there's the infamous episode about black hair and what is "good hair". Tyra told the audience she would show her natural hair and made it such a big deal. She came out with her hair permed and wet, slicked to the back of her neck. It was just to make it seem like it was naturally long and straight. Nobody was fooled.

It was just strange that she even acknowledged this crap. And with such passion. We all get a little fat in the ass sometimes. Look at Trump. He has one of the widest dumpy asses I’ve seen. He rocks that thing like he is a size 2.
