Mine went by Nanna and Grandmother. The latter was British and rather formal.

It was Grossma and it was a bitter judgmental hag who only spoke to the first grandson.

OP uses present tense, but how many DLers do you think have grandparents who are alive?! A very small sliver.

Nanny and Gran Gran

My grandma died in 1969. I don’t call her anything now.

Finally, dead. She was a nasty bitch who lived to 98, but she is worm food now.

Maybe OP should rephrase it as, “If you participated in a seance to contact your grandmother, what would you call her?”
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 2, 2020 2:53 AM |
Miss Ross

Nothing. My mother was abandoned by her mother, left her with an abusive sister. She was an alcoholic and it finally killed her so I count the fact that she wasn’t in my life a blessing. My father abandoned us when I was an infant and his mother had already died from cancer by then. I’m happy that my son has both grandmas alive.. They are good women. He calls one grandma and the other abuelita.

Grandma. She lived to be 101 and I still miss her.
She had a heavy German accent despite moving here when she was 16. I used to call her 'Charo' and she'd get mad.

My mother's mother (born in Greece): Yia-Yia.
My father's mother (born in San Francisco): Grandma Ann.

Mine always made us call her Grandmother. She hated Grandma and Granny, etc. And we weren't posh or nothin'.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 2, 2020 10:39 PM |
Mom Mom and Grams, both have passed.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
