Anyone been spooked by their lamp?
Do Himalayan Salt Lamps Really Attract Spirits?

Yes, of course they do.

Yes, I found a bottle of cheap vodka sitting next to mine one morning.

I just bought my first Himalayan salt lamp this afternoon. Oddly enough, the instructions booklet says some owners "complain" that the lamps attract spirits. They don't say much beyond that so don't know what kind of spooks are being attracted. Or energies for that matter. I was just curious to know if anyone had any previous experience with salt lamps and the other claim that lamps emit negative ions -

I thought salt was supposed to cast out spirits.

Forgot to add, the salt lamp is like the photo in my OP above, same container, same size smallish blocks of salt. The difference from regular salt lamps is that my lamp allows for a small ceramic dish for oils. I put in Balsam fir tonight.

r3 - It's a small metal container holding chunks of Himalayan salt blocks. The "electric" part is the tiny bulb in the centre, bottom of the metal container which "warms" the salt blocks and supposedly emits negative ions. So the idea being you should keep the lamp on 24/7 to keep the salt emitting the negative ions because if the lamp is off, the blocks go cold and sweat moisture (from the air) and that can corrode metal or rot wood.

r8 - I found this very good website: Excerpt:
Healing Properties: The salt crystal lamp binds the negative ions with the excess positive ions. When the lamp becomes warm, it absorbs moisture and the crystal will be damp on the surface. This builds up the ion field. Through the lamp, the positively charged atmosphere of a room can be neutralized. In addition to this, the colours of the salt crystal stones have a healing effect.
Himalayan Salt is said to help such conditions as, sinus, high acidity, kidneys, poor muscle tone, high blood sugar and irregular heartbeats. Allergy sufferers are said to benefit from breathing this naturally ionized air.

Salt is hygroscopic.

are there salt crystal clumps inside that lamp, hun? Why not go for the tacky but lovely glory of the classic style?

The box says "Delhi" r12. The guy that sold it to me is Indian and he said it reminded him of lamps "back home." I looked up and said (through the thick Covid glass) "You mean India?" He said yeah. But the metal design does tend more towards Arabic than Indian - not that I'm an expert.
