This was the BEST pilot I have seen since Twin Peaks!!!!! BAR NONE!!!! And probably the best opening sequence EVER on TV. It was so tense, I was on the edge of my seat for the first 30min. I almost puked from all the tension. Amazing writing and Cranston is born for this type of performance. The twink playing son also did an excellent job in mostly silent performance.

Too bad the reviews are terrible for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, these days the TV shows can't maintain the bar their set themselves so high.

The first episode was amazing, but Im worried the series is going to be predictable from some of the not-so-subtle edits/clues like the mafia boss assistant picking up Cranston's son's inhaler at the scene, the recording of the son at the gas station immediately of accident, the dog taking a bloody rag without anyone knowing, etc., etc.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a typical cat and mouse drama.

But I think that scene was aiming for social commentary on how cops respond to white kids versus black kids, rather than trying to be true to life.

I was really annoyed at this episode. For a show that is centered around a judge, a crime, police, and a courtroom, they decided to ignore the basics around reporting a crime. If your car is stolen and you don't want to "press charges," or have the car in the police databases as a stolen car, the police can't just decide to ignore you and report it as stolen anyway. They have to fill out lengthy reports, including victim info, and if the victim isn't willing to give info about the car or themselves, then they don't have a crime. This ruins things because major events of the show are based on this false assumption. The writers really could have come up with something better.

What I did find interesting this week is how the stakes of their silence have been raised. Can you act to protect your own life if someone else goes to prison? Where we know he will be killed? Does it matter that you had nothing to with the reason he decided to take the fall?

Tonight’s episode had me tense the entries time. The last scene is a cruel place to leave us waiting until next week.

Nothing happened in the entire episode until the final moment.

This week’s episode five was easily the best so far of this series, which was really taking its time building steam. I have a feeling all hell is going to break loose before it’s all said and done. I think Hunter Doohan is hot as fuck, a fine actor, and doing a terrific job here, but it’s stretching it to buy him as a straight high-school pussyhound; the twink bottom energy really shines through. The dog that plays Django is both adorable and a great dog-actor.

But am I the only one that feels something is missing from this? It hits all the water cooler TV show marks: Great premise. Strong writing. Fantastic acting. Good enough direction.

In an episode packed with one ridiculous plot point after another, the things that bothered me most were:

1) The judge questioning a witness and leading the defense to then ask the witness about his gang tattoo.

2) Somehow planting a google search on a juror's locked phone.

3) A one paragraph college acceptance letter on plain white paper with To: And From: at the top

4) The defendant's father parked behind the courtroom and casually strolling toward the judge until a detective stopped him, and the detective not mentioning it to anyone.

How about the judge even allowed to be the judge on the case when his car was stolen by the victim of the homicide and was used to kill the defendant's brother?

My favorite is the twink's teacher gf recognizing him from behind.

I'm thinking maybe Django trots into the courtroom during closing arguments and throws up a fully in tact human heart into a juror's lap.

The judge’s asking the witness about the tattoo was especially irritating since Carlo’s defense attorney represented him in the trial for the beating of the witness. Surely, he already knows about the witness’s gang affiliation. Not to mention it’s malpractice for him to not know it now. And no defense cross of the medical examiner? None?

It’s like the writers know NOTHING about how a trial—a murder trial with expensive defense counsel—works.

Of course the time frame for this trial is absurd.

Once his father took over the cover up, he started to act like he forgot he killed a mob boss' son, and that his over protective father was annoying to him.

I suppose Adam dying was a good conclusion and it came full circle, with Michael clutching Adam alone with nobody to help them. It was very Godfather-like. When Jimmy hugged Adam, we can only guess what he may have done had Eugene not got there before him. It was like the hug of death like Michael Corleone gave Fredo before he had him murdered. The only decent people were Lee, Eugene and Django.

I think they introduced all those new story elements because they were setting up season 2; probably thinking the show would be a huge hit.

It would have been a lot more moving if Adam had become a Baxter family member and turned his back in his father.

The mayor then admits to planting the evidence during a town council meeting and everyone just shrugs it off.

The investigators almost make Cranston’s character seem smart.
