Gay men and fashion

Is the stereotype true? Do you consider yourself stylish?

by Anonymousreply 15November 27, 2020 8:51 PM

Not in the slightest.

One only had to go to gay bar on any night of the week to discover that gay men are not necessarily stylish.

At 57, I wear classic clothes. This means dress pants, mock or turtlenecks , sweaters, button down dress shirts and sports jackets. I wear shoes, not sneakers. The t-shirt and jeans days are over. I don’t have the body for them.

I’m 60 and I say fuck it. If I like it, I’m wearing it. I don’t consider myself stylish, but I have my own style. I’m currently considering the Beams cardigan below. I’m just not too keen on the price though.

I could be. But I'm too cheap and live in t shirts, shorts and flip flops these days.

I live anonymously, so I am stylish only in my own house with a few friends.

I have style but I'm not fashionable.

R4 must be trying to win an ugly sweater contest...

Lean toward traditional menswear.

No, I don't consider myself to be stylish at all. I like function over fashion - I know what I like and what looks good on me, and I stick to a fairly basic wardrobe that doesn't follow any particular trends. My typical look is jeans and a t-shirt, with a jumper or hoodie when it's colder. I tend to stick to dark colours or white, and either plain fabrics or striped. I like the fitted look so I have nicely fitting jeans (with stretch fabrics so they fit properly on my waist and legs and show off my ass and bulge nicely) and fitted t-shirts/jumpers without them being overly tight.

No. Its either basic black or camo for me.

by Anonymousreply 11November 27, 2020 11:45 AM

I don't know. I am stylish. It's a skill like any other.

I wear the same fitted grey polo shirts every day like a cartoon character. I like my Italian leather belts and shoes though.

I went to HS in a tiny cowboy town and was the only guy to have "outfits" - I was WAY fashionable. Never had a problem strangely enough. I gave that up long ago and now I'm pretty much jeans and polo shirts and sneakers only.
