Weimar.

This makes sense to me. The gender weirdos do seem to be the type to be obsessively into superheroes and comic books (in the same way they're into anime and cartoons), so why wouldn't DC try to cash in on that and save the dying comic medium?

by Anonymousreply 2November 23, 2020 12:21 AM

This used to be called "androgynous" in the 90s.

by Anonymousreply 3November 23, 2020 12:46 AM

R2 They are woke-pandering in a last-ditch effort to expand the comic book audience. Like you've said, these people don't even buy comic books, so all the YASSSSSSS Op-eds, Likes and Retweets ultimately don't translate into sales. The industry is basically committing suicide: they are catering to a group that won't give them a cent, while the nerds who are willing to spend thousands are simply retreating to retro comics.

Get woke, go broke.

Love the comments:

[quote]“After gutting DC Comics employees in massive lay-offs, Kid Quick becomes the fastest They alive to race down the memory hole, joining Snowflake and Safespace as hilarious, dated, cringe material to appease an audience that doesn’t buy comics.”

[quote]This is what happens when big media execs look at Twitter all day and assume the general public has the same interests.

Both houses, marvel and dc are chasing off the people who would normally buy. The new avengers are similarly prettied up. If they had gone kick ass, people would have flocked to get the first issues of phase four.

by Anonymousreply 7November 23, 2020 1:50 AM

No wonder DC are rumoured to be closing their comic division. Go woke, Go broke.

by Anonymousreply 8November 23, 2020 1:53 AM

If this is what they are foisting on the public, then good fucking riddance.

by Anonymousreply 9November 23, 2020 1:55 AM

That makes sense as both superheroes and non-binaries tend to be mutants of some form or another.

The CW can't even get it right when it comes to black or gay characters. And i wouldn't say Nia is a fan favourite with the Supergirl fans either.

by Anonymousreply 11November 23, 2020 3:11 AM

R11 The CW superhero shows aren't targeted towards blacks or gay men, they're targeted towards teenage girls, the people who make up most of The CW's audience. Why else do you think they cast two of the people from Glee to play their biggest superheroes, as well as a guy from Teen Wolf to play superman? They know their audience, and it's not black people or gay men.

by Anonymousreply 12November 23, 2020 3:17 AM

Black Lightning and Supergirl cancelled.

by Anonymousreply 13November 23, 2020 3:19 AM

Female superheroes are hardly cutting edge.

by Anonymousreply 14November 23, 2020 3:29 AM

DC has cancelled all the fucking Sandman Universe titles, the fuckers, and they seriously think people want some fucking non binary character? Assholes.

I disagree, i don't think The Flash, Arrow or Black Lightning are aimed specifically at teenage girls.

Teen Wolf and Glee had lots of gay fans.

I'm ready for my close up, Mr. Berlanti.
