Do You Sew?

I like to get out the sewing machine and whip something up, on occasion. Do you like to sew too? The attached article features a gay man known for his innovative quilting techniques. Side note: of course, his name is Dale!

He looks like a typical straight guy but the opened shirt with waxed chest gives it away.

by Anonymousreply 1November 21, 2020 7:31 PM

Yes, I do. I do best!

I’m sure Dale’s favorite word is buddy

by Anonymousreply 3November 21, 2020 7:43 PM

Wow, he’s really overcompensating on the cowboy thing. A rope? Honestly. Is he about to rope a steer. It’s nice his granny taught the gay kid to sew. Sorry he got picked on and is now a caricature.

The quilting is cool, tho. Really nice work.

I know of a guy that quilts, I think his quilts are more art with quilting as the medium versus quilts to use in practical terms, but they look very nice.

He is an ex Titan Porn star!

by Anonymousreply 8November 21, 2020 9:22 PM

I thought he looked like Scotch Inkom - he had an amazing body when he was doing porn - relatively tiny meat, though.

by Anonymousreply 9November 21, 2020 9:27 PM

It is Scotch Inkom the Titan model.

Good for him! He seems to have figured out a great career and avoided being chained to a desk.

by Anonymousreply 11November 21, 2020 9:31 PM

This guy has taken sewing to a whole new level by going back two hundred years. Kinda cute too.

As for me, my mom taught me how to operate a sewing machine. Wonder how she knew I'd be interested in sewing? (Duh.)

Sweet article, but there's nothing unique about his designs or technique.

by Anonymousreply 13November 21, 2020 9:36 PM

I slay

by Anonymousreply 14November 21, 2020 9:37 PM

When I was pre-school I had sewing cards to play with.

by Anonymousreply 15November 22, 2020 12:50 AM

Do I sew?

Only so-so.

by Anonymousreply 16November 22, 2020 1:01 AM

He also sells real estate in LA---looks to be with a younger partner (business and otherwise).

by Anonymousreply 17November 22, 2020 1:27 AM

I wish someone would sew me a handmade quilt. I'd love one.

by Anonymousreply 18November 22, 2020 2:52 AM

Sewing is one of the six industrial arts.

Yes, I can sew. Not an expert, but it's enjoyable.

by Anonymousreply 22November 22, 2020 3:58 AM

Yes. But I'm not quite that hot.

by Anonymousreply 23November 22, 2020 4:00 AM

Of course! I made a career of it.

I could manage sewing on a button but that's about it, OP. I have a friend though who's hypermasculine and you'd absolutely never peg him as gay, but he makes way over a hundred grand a year making draperies. He has numerous interior designers who employ him. He claims his mother got him started. He grew up poor and couldn't afford the clothes he wanted so he decided to make them using his mom's sewing machine. He's shown me some of his "Polo" shirt from his youth and you'd NEVER know they weren't authentic. His embroidered polo player is better than anything Ralph ever put out.

by Anonymousreply 25November 22, 2020 4:05 AM

Quilting is lovely, but when is he going to start an Only Fans?

by Anonymousreply 26November 22, 2020 4:06 AM

I wonder if some of the professional Datalounge users would be able to tell the difference between a real and fake polo shirt?

by Anonymousreply 27November 22, 2020 2:50 PM

How does he make a living? The article says that he doesn't sell most of his quilts, and his website just has a few patterns for sale. Maybe I misread... I am very curious.

by Anonymousreply 28November 22, 2020 5:46 PM

I think he teaches classes, and his partner probably brings dough in.
