I can still remember the utter despair my then-11-year old self experienced upon losing Bobby.
His assassination was how I learned what the word "late" meant. I have a friend in The Netherlands who writes about The Rolling Stones 1972 tour. He's very fond of using shoot 'em up scenarios. He sends me the stories to critique. I don't have the heart to tell him how offensive it is to have grown up with JFK, MLK & Bobby. Not to mention George Wallace. And the sick series of mass shootings that have occurred during my lifetime.

I can still remember my despair at finding out later on what an utterly corrupt womanising shite he was in private life.
As always, separating private life and worthy public impact can be something of a minefield.
The Kennedy brothers sharing the psycho and extremely vulnerable Marilyn Monroe like an hor d'oeuvre was one of the nastiest bits of information about a "public servant" ever.
The Kennedy boys were a highly problematic lot in private. Ted Kennedy went on to redeem himself, at least IMO, with decades of service to the needs of the Great Unwashed. That doesn't absolve him of his private sins, but at least counterbalances them somewhat.
But no one knows what RFK would have been like or done had he lived. The context of his assassination only several years after that of his older brother was undeniably horrifying.
But he was no saint - nor was either of this two brothers.

Especially considering you were actually 17.
