I remember at the time thinking that she'd really pulled it together visually when she attended the Oscars during the "People vs Larry Flynt" era. But looking at her now, she still didn't look like a legit Hollywood star. She did look extremely clean though. I guess you can polish the brass but it's never gonna shine like silver.

R14 This isn't an aging thing. To be 56 is nothing in celebrity years. She has the money, she could have maintained her Celebrity Skin look indefinitely. The reality is, she has had plastic surgery that has changed her entire face. It's the type of plastic surgery reserved for people who hate themselves. There is no trace of the previous face. Think Madonna or MJ. She has erased herself.

I think that she probably could have stopped after a simple nose job.

I'm a female, and I have the same shaped moon-face that she started off with. It looks like she shaved down the "wide" corners of her jaw and then lengthened her chin a bit. I guess it does look better on her, but I'd be terrified to try it for myself.

I think she looked very pretty in the late 90s / early 2000s. This was after her plastic surgery, and she was transitioning to an acting career. When promoting the "People vs. Larry Flynt" and "Man on the Moon", she even did a few interviews where she was calm, stayed on topic, and resisted her habit of constant namedropping.

SNL lampooned her image makeover (along with Madonna and Debbie Reynolds):

She looked great after the first round of teaks years ago. She should have left it at that and just gotten a subtle facelift. Courtney and Gwen Stefani look like different people (but Gwen’s surgery looks great). I expected much more from 90’s rocker chicks but they have to feel the societal pressure too.

R26, she has her dad's eyes. She had her mother's original facial bone structure, and she had a better version of her mother's nose. I thought the combination was adorable.
