Buck, r4?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 16, 2020 8:37 AM |
R11 nah, it doesn't really apply to Ben. He won an Oscar early on in 1997 for Good Will Hunting (screenplay), then his acting career really took off, from indie/Kevin Smith movies to big budget blockbusters, and he won another Oscar for Argo (directing), so he does have the talent, probably he should stay behind the camera more.

I have never see that Brie Larson clip before. Awful

How did Brie Larson get all that money spent on that 2005 album, a music video and only went on to sell 4,000 copies in the US?
What were the producers thinking?

Ed Norton(Art Carney) from "The Honeymooners" would win an Oscar for Best Actor for "Harry and Tonto".

Does anyone talk about how repulsive JK Simmons is? He has a fucking monkey face. He is not a terrible actor but his monkey face is revolting and distracting.

That Glenn would finally win an Oscar for "The Wife" . . . Oh, wait.

R18 Dame Helen Mirren had already had a decades-long film career by that point. And while that may not guarantee a part in a film that may be Oscar material, I think it was almost inevitable for her.

R28 Yes that's true. How about Dr David Kelly then?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 16, 2020 3:27 PM |
R14 is a great one! For those who don't understand R4's reference, it's Timothy Hutton.

How does anyone mistake the ‘have’ (or the ‘ve) in that verb form for ‘of’? How does ‘of’ make any sense as part of a past tense verb?
What’s it like to have such a brain that it never occurs to you to consider such a thing? It must be freeing.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 16, 2020 6:25 PM |
R38 They both look relatively "normal" there.

That little girl from "Swiss Family Robinson."

R39, my ex-boyfriend has managed to work the of/‘ve substitution into just about every text he has ever sent me. I don’t think most people’s minds have grammatical categories. Written language is more just sounds and corresponding letters, in which case, “of” makes sense.
What doesn’t make any fucking sense at all is the use of the apostrophe before “of” in the OP. Is there a contraction apostrophe from ‘ve lurking in OP’s mind that transcended phonics and improbably landed with that homonym proposition?
Or just as likely, is OP trying to set off fainting spells in the Oh, Dear crowd? He just milked two paragraphs out of me.

[quote] he won another Oscar for Argo (directing)
Affleck was famously snubbed a directing nomination at the Oscars. Argo was a rare best picture winner where the director wasn’t even nominated.

I love how impressed he is just minutes after threatening to gouge out his eyes. Great job.
