Help! I have fallen down the YouTube algorithm rabbit hole.
I started watching reactions to first-time music listens and now they come up constantly and I can't resist watching some young people who listen to 90s/80s musicians I like for the first time. It's equally compelling as I hope they love Tori or Kate Bush or Bjork and boring as fuck since they rarely have much interesting to say. There's one young guy though who I think said he studies poetry who has really astute analyses of lyrics and music videos, and one really dumb young guy who is vapid but cute in a human puppy kind of way.
I've been watching the British gay guy/straight girl couple Joel and Lia overemote about US/UK differences.
There's a German girl who lives in Ohio and from whom who I have learned so much about Germany that I never thought I'd care to know, and several different people who teach or discuss conversational or "street" French.
It's so addictive but feels like junk food. I don't know if it's better or worse for me than TV, but it's been a decent escape from Trump news 24/7.
If you like Tori Amos at all, there's a guy on YouTube called YANTA who does perfect instrumental versions of her songs on piano and (realistic sounding but synthesized) harpsichord, organs, etc., including the sheet music.
