Any gays this year under the mistletoe?

by Anonymousreply 1November 12, 2020 3:38 PM

R1, they tend to use plenty of gay actors in these things

Jonathan Bennett, who previously played straight in a few Hallmark Christmas movies, will play a homo in Hallmark's first gay-themed Christmas movie.

You have to give it to Hallmark, they do cast some very traditionally handsome men in their movies.

They're all generically handsome, like Mark Deklin, but still nice to watch since there are always gratuitous shirtless scenes.

I like the Christmas movies with Vanessa Hudgens, who is the Lacey Chabert of Netflix.

by Anonymousreply 6November 12, 2020 6:11 PM

I'm sure we can look forward to at least 12 new Hallmark Christmas movies starring Candace Cameron Bure, who I think has been in as many of them as Lacey Chabert and Alicia Witt.

by Anonymousreply 7November 12, 2020 6:22 PM

[quote]they tend to use plenty of gay actors in these things.

Luke Macfarlane has been the "straight" romantic lead in many of them.

I like Luke MacFarlane. He was believably straight on Killjoys.

I just heard a radio ad for “Christmas in Vienna”! Hallmark Channel. Tonight, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 17November 14, 2020 11:33 PM

Candace will be starring in Make the North Pole Great Again

by Anonymousreply 18November 14, 2020 11:36 PM

Will Vancouver be starring as Vienna?

by Anonymousreply 19November 15, 2020 12:56 AM

Vancouver is known for its acting versatility, although usually it plays Manhattan in these Hallmark movies.

by Anonymousreply 20November 15, 2020 12:58 AM

Candace Cameron Bure as Megan Kelly in Santa Clause is White

Feisty drifter Nomi Utah shoved Crystal Canada right down the COVID stairs this year.

[quote]Hallmark typically films the majority of its Christmas movies in Canada because of tax breaks and beautiful locations. However, Utah and Utah County run a close second. The crews can’t get into Canada because of COVID-19, so the Beehive State won out this year.

I’ve seen some of those movies with the Elders & the newbies and I’m not sure they are the Holiday get togethers that Hallmark likes to hyperpeddle.

by Anonymousreply 23November 18, 2020 8:47 AM

“CHRISTMAS🎄JAILBREAK” - has Candace smuggling in a loaded glock and some zip ties in a Kwanza Cake to Lori.

by Anonymousreply 24November 18, 2020 9:00 AM

Who are the handsomest men in Hallmark Christmas movies? I personally prefer the rugged type over the boyish cookie-smelling type, but whoever you think is handsome is watchworthy for you, so name away.

by Anonymousreply 25November 18, 2020 11:36 PM

WHEN is the GAY movie?????

by Anonymousreply 26November 18, 2020 11:39 PM

[quote]WHEN is the GAY movie?????

"The Christmas House" premiers Sunday (Nov. 22) at 8 p.m. Apparently the main couple in the story are heterosexualist; the homosexualist couple is secondary. The parents of the brothers (one straight, one gay) are played by Sharon Lawrence and, of all people, Treat Williams (ehh, it's a job).

I love not Beyoncé. She was my favorite member of Destiny’s Children.

[quote]Who are the handsomest men in Hallmark Christmas movies?

Paul Greene (straight) and Luke Macfarlane (gay). Also Aaron O'Connell, Ryan Paevey, Michael Rady and Steve Lund.

Ryan Cooper is gorgeous!

WTF?! So all that hype about "the first gay Hallmark" flick was fake? Having gay sidekicks is not new.

by Anonymousreply 32November 19, 2020 11:37 AM

God, he's gotten fat at R3.

by Anonymousreply 33November 19, 2020 11:38 AM

[quote]WTF?! So all that hype about "the first gay Hallmark" flick was fake? Having gay sidekicks is not new.

They're not sidekicks. They're part of the family in the story and have their own subplot (trying to adopt a child). And I don't remember ever seeing any gay characters (or at least openly gay characters) in a Hallmark movie. So this movie actually is a step forward.

by Anonymousreply 34November 19, 2020 4:49 PM

Having a "subplot" to the main characters is barely one step up from the "gay best friend".

by Anonymousreply 35November 19, 2020 6:01 PM

A gay best friend would have also been a step forward for the staunchly traditional Hallmark Channel.

by Anonymousreply 36November 19, 2020 6:04 PM

R38, some of those titles are hilarious. They sound like SNL parodies.
