Given the enduring cultural influence of Lewis Carroll’s book, I’m curious if there is anyone here who has actually picked it up, read it and enjoyed it. I think most people are most familiar with it from the 1951 Disney movie, which is one of the weakest films of Disney’s Golden Age.
Alice in Wonderland: does anyone actually LIKE this work of fiction?

I read the book as a kid and really loved it. Of course, I was too young to realize it was a political satire. I just liked the story and I loved the book's illustrations.

Obligatory
When Carol hits those low notes you can really hear the African American in her voice

It seems to defy adaptation. There have been so many attempts over the years, but nothing quite matches the book. Most people who have taken a whack at it haven't exactly been on Lewis Carroll's level. The only thing I can think of that got the mood quite right was Christopher Wheeldon's ballet, which is wordless.
