It will begin at Kim's funeral. Horseface will trip as she exits and run into Mr. Big who will suddenly seem small. We hear a voice over about it. She will go home and take a bottle of pills and have a hallucination as each man she has been with will appear surrounding her bed as she dies drinking an imaginary Cosmo. Long dark hair will be on her 4th facelift and 4th rich husband who will find her with the pool boy, jerk off on the corner watching her and then kill her with her sewing scissors. The dyke and her cute husband will cozy up in front of a fire with a picture book and tell stories as the credits roll.

They can’t replace Kim but they can write her out.

I think there is just too much animosity between them.

Please let that show die...and any thoughts of resurrecting it.

On WWHL(sorry d'lers) they had Cynthia Nixon and Sharon Stone and the idea was thrown around. They both were pretty excited about the idea.

I thought they wrapped it up at the end of the tv show. Then they made the first move and that was supposed to wrapped it up, then the sequel and they wrapped it up. The New York of today is not the New York of years ago.

It would still be an easy paycheck for everyone, if they manage to write out Samantha. Lots of nostalgic fans willing to see them again. However I wonder at which point SATC would seamlessly morph into The Golden Girls. When the first episode of The Golden Girls aired in 1985 the actress playing Blanche was younger than any of SATC cast today and even Betty White was younger than Kim Catrall is.

If they could find a decent script, I would watch. That last movie reduced all the characters to their worst instincts. They had lost their appeal.

Oh God, I hope so!!!! That recent show about the little twat living in Paris was bad enough. Who wants to see a drama about a bunch of middle aged (I'm being nice) woman who still think men are lining up to fuck them?

I've never even seen the first of it, so....

I'm a fan of the show but I think that the culture has moved on and that the masses aren't really interested in this story or characters anymore.

Im watching Kim on Filthy Rich and I gotta say ,she was right not to want to play a sex pot again. Its OVAH for her . She looks good,but she looks her age . I wouldnt mind a movie of them as aged ladies . Id like to see how they coped with life in general . What I DO NOT want to see is the main focus being on Carrie . I think it would be great to see them in modern day NYC but behaving as mature women with real lives and not girls. The script for the third movie had Big dying and Carrie facing life without him. The characters in Grace And Frankie are 20+ years older than those in the Golden Girls. That show covers geriatric sex and relationships.

Samantha and Miranda would be priced out of Manhattan. Miranda already is. Carrie and Charlotte married their money. It’s hard to see how these women would live.

Why can't they just use unused footage from the series and movies and have Samantha appear in the background? We could hear her fucking, on the phone, for instance.

It would have to be a very dark background. Kim has aged. We all have. But she’s not circa 1999 Kim anymore.

If they could actually update it for the times, it could be great. It'd be wonderful if they'd bring the final movie back to the show's original darker and edgier roots.

Unfortunately, they won't and it'll be just like the first two movies where it felt like gay men playing Barbies for over 2 hours where everything is big and flashy and makes no sense.

Big dying and Carrie having to deal with it would be a very interesting storyline. Putting her back into the dating world at her age has endless possibilities and it could truly humble the character, which she's probably needed for awhile now.

Big dying would be interesting in that maybe she will actually start acting like a grownup with this crazy crap about "all consuming love". She keeps screwing up her romantic relationships, and maybe with his death she will get ahold of herself.

OK so we've got Big dying of Covid, leaving Carrie to confront dating in a post Covid world. Miranda transitioning. Charlotte becoming an environmental activist. And Sam having phone sex. OK. This sounds excellent.

Can we not have Covid Carrie killed off in the first scene instead? A flashback would reveal she caught it from an infected shoe salesperson.

Big deals with the loss by fucking Charlotte at the funeral. Charlotte convinces herself that she is in love with Big and turns into Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction. Gory death scene at the end as Big's ex Natasha stabs Charlotte to death in the tub.

Miranda goes into a coma during her transition surgery and remains in a vegetative state. Steve pulls the plug as he's sick of her nagging.

Samantha has a cameo in the final scene. She is shown having a drink with Natasha, the shoe saleswoman, and the doctor who botched Miranda's surgery. She thanks them and laughs heartily as the screen fades to black.

Why did Kim Catrall do the movies? I thought she was done with the show when the series ended. And I don't blame her. None of these actresses have anything else going on in their careers and she doesn't feel the need to return to the character.

The whole show was unwatchable. The only real moment in the show was when the Japanese man approached Carrie thinking she was a prostitute. The rest of the entire series and subsequent movies were frau fantasy.

I remember occasionally watching random SATC episodes as a teenager and finding it pretty funny and "very NYC". And then years later as an adult I tried to (re-)watch the whole series and it seemed so silly in comparison with utterly unlikable main characters in crappy relationships. It's definitely not happening without Kim. The series did get more and more Carrie-centric as it progressed but it always had the feel of an ensemble show and I think even an egomaniac like SJP knows deep down how many people tuned in just because of Samantha and that the onscreen chemistry among the four gals was one of the show's main charms.

Kim moved on. If someone looks like Trump it's SJP who can't let go of that cash cow of a franchise. And I love SJP.

Charlotte was much more interesting in the first season. Then they turned her into a dingbat. Cynthia went back to the stage and has won three Tony’s since SATC ended. She’s even popped up on Law and Order. She’ll always work. SJP probably would have had a more artistically successful career if she hadn’t played Carrie.

When Miranda moved out to Brooklyn it was considered equivalent of being banished by most Manhattan residents of certain socio-economic circles. That long not been true.

Scoring a townhouse/brownstone in any decent area of Brooklyn today is neither cheap nor easy. Miranda and Steve got in on the "ground floor" back then so to speak. In years after SATC people were bypassing Manhattan and going straight to Brooklyn.

Even today during covid-19 mess Brooklyn's luxury and townhouse market by most accounts is doing better than Manhattan.

R10 is correct. The series and stories were supposed to be wrapped up. They did it sloppily three times but the story was supposed to be wrapped up.

Not that we need to revisit a 15 year old series, but they could write a spin-off series like FRASIER was to CHEERS. The focus of the series could be on Charlotte's new life. Same universe as SATC, but different focus. Maybe Mario Cantone, Smith and one or two other supporting SATC characters could be in it. Maybe an ex-boyfriend could pop-up every now and then. Every other episode either Kim Cattrall or Cynthia Nixon could be in the story line and make an appearance on "CHARLOTTE AND THE CITY". SJP would appear as a guest every now and then to complain about Big having an affair.

Covid in the City?

Give her a great Oscar worthy scene to open the movie where Samantha's breast cancer returns and she dies and set the rest of the movie with the girls coping with the loss.

I kind of feel for actors who are part of successful series because when they feel it’s time to move on, the fans won’t let them. And they have to balance any sense of obligation they feel toward the producers, writers, co-stars and crew.

Kim wasn’t treated equitably from a compensation perspective during the show’s run. She no doubt made out well for the first two movies, and also fulfilled any sense of obligation by appearing in those.

At what point should she be allowed to put it behind her? Working with SJP wasn’t pleasant for her, the character was fun but it got really old after a while. What kind of lifetime obligation should she have?

Respect that she’s not participating in a soul-killing money grab.

Kim is allowed to just say no and walk away. But, from what I’ve read, she came very close to signing for a third film then stopped negotiations because of money or whatever. She should have just said ‘fuck off I’m done’ from the beginning.

Kim is in her mid-60s and getting good work in other franchises. It sounds like she was never treated all that well or compensated fairly for her work on SATC. That's especially unfair given how much she contributed to the success of the show. I don't blame her for not wanting to visit the Samantha character again and put up with all the cuntiness from SJP and her minions.

Likely the "whatever" that made KC walk away for good was seeing the script where her character's main storyline was her sexting with a minor.

I always figured a good concept for a new movie/season would be the gang getting together after a decade of growing apart for Samantha's funeral. Since Samantha already had cancer once, perhaps she could have it reoccur and kill her. Watching them catch up with each other's lives and have a few adventures in between would be fun.

I just saw ep7 of Filthy Rich, so it was not cancelled after 3.

Filthy Rich couldn't draw enough viewers from that all important 18-49 demographic.

Plot idea-Big loses all of his money in a Madoff ponzi scheme so he and Carrie move to Queens. Fast forward 20 years, they've turned into George Costanza's parents, yelling at each other over the price of bagels.

The problem with a 3rd Sex and the City movie or even a handful of new episodes would be that SJP would insist on Carrie still being cute and adorable even though her character was actually a narcissistic freak show. Even if Big was to die, I doubt there'd be any realistic conflict. Carrie would still go about her day on her little cloud of delusions. She wouldn't learn or grow and it'd just be her attending fashion shows and gallery openings to try and take her mind off of it.

Not sure if this is true but I heard that a subplot of the proposed SATC3 had Samantha hooking up with Brady Hobbs Brady which pisses off Miranda.

Kim is not going to play Samantha and that's the end of it. if we see it again someone else like Sharon Stone or Christina Aguilera or Jeremy renner will have to play Samantha.
