Have we seen the last of SEX AND THE CITY

Will Kim change her mind? Personally, I’d love to see a six episode HBO wrap up with or without her.

by Anonymousreply 93November 13, 2020 4:57 PM

If HBO with make it without Kim Cattrall it may go ahead. She is happy for Samantha to be killed off or recast.

by Anonymousreply 1November 11, 2020 2:39 PM

ditch horseface SJP and ide watch it, on netflix....im only there for KIM, the others are zzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 2November 11, 2020 2:44 PM

It will begin at Kim's funeral. Horseface will trip as she exits and run into Mr. Big who will suddenly seem small. We hear a voice over about it. She will go home and take a bottle of pills and have a hallucination as each man she has been with will appear surrounding her bed as she dies drinking an imaginary Cosmo. Long dark hair will be on her 4th facelift and 4th rich husband who will find her with the pool boy, jerk off on the corner watching her and then kill her with her sewing scissors. The dyke and her cute husband will cozy up in front of a fire with a picture book and tell stories as the credits roll.

by Anonymousreply 3November 11, 2020 2:47 PM

They can’t replace Kim but they can write her out.

by Anonymousreply 4November 11, 2020 2:51 PM

I think there is just too much animosity between them.

by Anonymousreply 5November 11, 2020 2:53 PM

Please let that show die...and any thoughts of resurrecting it.

by Anonymousreply 6November 11, 2020 2:54 PM

Someone suggested Sharon Stone as the Samantha type character.... I think that would be a great idea

by Anonymousreply 7November 11, 2020 2:56 PM

Talk about beating a dead horse!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 8November 11, 2020 3:00 PM

On WWHL(sorry d'lers) they had Cynthia Nixon and Sharon Stone and the idea was thrown around. They both were pretty excited about the idea.

by Anonymousreply 9November 11, 2020 3:13 PM

I thought they wrapped it up at the end of the tv show. Then they made the first move and that was supposed to wrapped it up, then the sequel and they wrapped it up. The New York of today is not the New York of years ago.

by Anonymousreply 10November 11, 2020 3:20 PM

It would still be an easy paycheck for everyone, if they manage to write out Samantha. Lots of nostalgic fans willing to see them again. However I wonder at which point SATC would seamlessly morph into The Golden Girls. When the first episode of The Golden Girls aired in 1985 the actress playing Blanche was younger than any of SATC cast today and even Betty White was younger than Kim Catrall is.

by Anonymousreply 11November 11, 2020 3:25 PM

If they could find a decent script, I would watch. That last movie reduced all the characters to their worst instincts. They had lost their appeal.

by Anonymousreply 12November 11, 2020 3:29 PM

Oh God, I hope so!!!! That recent show about the little twat living in Paris was bad enough. Who wants to see a drama about a bunch of middle aged (I'm being nice) woman who still think men are lining up to fuck them?

by Anonymousreply 13November 11, 2020 3:32 PM

I've never even seen the first of it, so....

by Anonymousreply 14November 11, 2020 3:33 PM

I'm a fan of the show but I think that the culture has moved on and that the masses aren't really interested in this story or characters anymore.

by Anonymousreply 15November 11, 2020 3:39 PM

Wake me when they make the sequel where they're all confined to nursing homes and start molesting the help and getting in fights with their walkers.

by Anonymousreply 16November 11, 2020 3:42 PM

Kim needs some hard fucks

by Anonymousreply 17November 11, 2020 3:43 PM

Im watching Kim on Filthy Rich and I gotta say ,she was right not to want to play a sex pot again. Its OVAH for her . She looks good, but she looks her age . I wouldnt mind a movie of them as aged ladies . Id like to see how they coped with life in general . What I DO NOT want to see is the main focus being on Carrie . She was never my favorite to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 18November 11, 2020 3:53 PM

I think R10 is correct.

Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis.

It was very much of its time back then.

What would the millennial equivalent be today? A vegan, a climate change activist, a federal prosecutor and and influencer? Not for me, thank you.

by Anonymousreply 19November 11, 2020 3:59 PM
I’d love to see a six episode HBO wrap up with or without her.

Wrap up what, their mummified corpses? Neither the show itself nor the movies ended open-ended with a cliffhanger.

by Anonymousreply 20November 11, 2020 4:07 PM

I think it would be great to see them in modern day NYC but behaving as mature women with real lives and not girls. The script for the third movie had Big dying and Carrie facing life without him. I’d watch that. And how about Miranda leaving Steve for another woman and dealing with her transgender son, Brady !

by Anonymousreply 21November 11, 2020 4:10 PM

The characters in Grace And Frankie are 20+ years older than those in the Golden Girls. That show covers geriatric sex and relationships.

Samantha and Miranda would be priced out of Manhattan. Miranda already is. Carrie and Charlotte married their money. It’s hard to see how these women would live.

by Anonymousreply 22November 11, 2020 4:23 PM

Oh no! Another civil war is developing here!

Half of DL has proclaimed NYC forever dead and buried and the other half is salivating about seeing 4 post-menopausal women navigating the streets of NYC past the homeless and closed bars and restaurants.

by Anonymousreply 23November 11, 2020 4:24 PM

I'm not sure I'd wanna see a Covid Carrie

by Anonymousreply 24November 11, 2020 4:43 PM

I don’t think a movie without all four women would get financed but a brief series return to HBO would. This time Miranda has to relocate to QUEENS!

by Anonymousreply 25November 11, 2020 5:18 PM

Why can't they just use unused footage from the series and movies and have Samantha appear in the background? We could hear her fucking, on the phone, for instance.

by Anonymousreply 26November 11, 2020 5:24 PM

It would have to be a very dark background. Kim has aged. We all have. But she’s not circa 1999 Kim anymore.

by Anonymousreply 27November 11, 2020 5:33 PM

If they could actually update it for the times, it could be great. It'd be wonderful if they'd bring the final movie back to the show's original darker and edgier roots.

Unfortunately, they won't and it'll be just like the first two movies where it felt like gay men playing Barbies for over 2 hours where everything is big and flashy and makes no sense.

Big dying and Carrie having to deal with it would be a very interesting storyline. Putting her back into the dating world at her age has endless possibilities and it could truly humble the character, which she's probably needed for awhile now.

by Anonymousreply 28November 11, 2020 5:37 PM

OMG STF about this OP. If you have nothing interesting to say, say nothing.

by Anonymousreply 29November 11, 2020 5:43 PM

I'd rather they bring back Revenge.

by Anonymousreply 30November 11, 2020 5:47 PM

Big dying would be interesting in that maybe she will actually start acting like a grownup with this crazy crap about "all consuming love". She keeps screwing up her romantic relationships, and maybe with his death she will get ahold of herself.

by Anonymousreply 31November 11, 2020 5:47 PM

OK so we've got Big dying of Covid, leaving Carrie to confront dating in a post Covid world. Miranda transitioning. Charlotte becoming an environmental activist. And Sam having phone sex. OK. This sounds excellent.

by Anonymousreply 32November 11, 2020 6:02 PM

How about Stanford and Anthony adopting a baby and realizing just how hard it is to raise a kid. Barf!

by Anonymousreply 33November 11, 2020 6:29 PM

Can we not have Covid Carrie killed off in the first scene instead? A flashback would reveal she caught it from an infected shoe salesperson.

Big deals with the loss by fucking Charlotte at the funeral. Charlotte convinces herself that she is in love with Big and turns into Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction. Gory death scene at the end as Big's ex Natasha stabs Charlotte to death in the tub.

Miranda goes into a coma during her transition surgery and remains in a vegetative state. Steve pulls the plug as he's sick of her nagging.

Samantha has a cameo in the final scene. She is shown having a drink with Natasha, the shoe saleswoman, and the doctor who botched Miranda's surgery. She thanks them and laughs heartily as the screen fades to black.

by Anonymousreply 34November 11, 2020 6:35 PM

Why did Kim Catrall do the movies? I thought she was done with the show when the series ended. And I don't blame her. None of these actresses have anything else going on in their careers and she doesn't feel the need to return to the character.

Sarah Jessica Parker doing antiquated Neil Simon with her husband

Cynthia Nixon trying to become Governor of New York State

The other one who I can't remember her name, what's she been doing lately?

by Anonymousreply 35November 11, 2020 6:37 PM

The second movie was dreadful. They must have paid Kim a fortune. It’s totally unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 36November 11, 2020 7:32 PM
The second movie was dreadful. They must have paid Kim a fortune. It’s totally unwatchable.

The whole show was unwatchable. The only real moment in the show was when the Japanese man approached Carrie thinking she was a prostitute. The rest of the entire series and subsequent movies were frau fantasy.

by Anonymousreply 37November 11, 2020 7:53 PM

I remember occasionally watching random SATC episodes as a teenager and finding it pretty funny and "very NYC". And then years later as an adult I tried to (re-)watch the whole series and it seemed so silly in comparison with utterly unlikable main characters in crappy relationships. I blame my crush on Baryshnikov (no matter if old or young) for liking it the first time around.

by Anonymousreply 38November 11, 2020 10:48 PM

R34 Yes! I love that!

We need to write the script and submit it

by Anonymousreply 39November 11, 2020 10:56 PM

Remember the episode where they were invited onto the ship for Fleet Week and Carrie was the only one that wouldn't put out for the military men? Thankless cvnt. She could have serviced a few of the boys out of gratitude.

by Anonymousreply 40November 11, 2020 11:02 PM

I never got that. Fleet week and she didn't get laid!

by Anonymousreply 41November 11, 2020 11:07 PM
I never got that. Fleet week and she didn't get laid!

I think the navy men thought she was a tranny and they weren't going to touch that.

by Anonymousreply 42November 11, 2020 11:10 PM

That's probably true. I found her the least sexually attractive of the four

by Anonymousreply 43November 11, 2020 11:12 PM

Wasn't that the episode where she was about to hook up with a sailor, but he somehow disrespected New York, and she walked away?

by Anonymousreply 44November 11, 2020 11:19 PM
Wasn't that the episode where she was about to hook up with a sailor, but he somehow disrespected New York, and she walked away?

Can we remember that the show is called SEX and the city. Not The City and Sex.

by Anonymousreply 45November 11, 2020 11:23 PM

Kim is a vindictive bitch. Her handling of the satc movie doesn’t flatter her. She comes across as unprofessional, retaliatory, and bitter. Trump like.

by Anonymousreply 46November 11, 2020 11:25 PM
Kim is a vindictive bitch.

No, she's wise enough to know that nobody wants to pay to see her 75 year old cooch. She's moved on to more interesting work where she doesn't have to be humiliated by that horse-faced tranny who can't sustain the show without her.

by Anonymousreply 47November 11, 2020 11:29 PM

It's definitely not happening without Kim. The series did get more and more Carrie-centric as it progressed but it always had the feel of an ensemble show and I think even an egomaniac like SJP knows deep down how many people tuned in just because of Samantha and that the onscreen chemistry among the four gals was one of the show's main charms.

by Anonymousreply 48November 11, 2020 11:41 PM

Kim moved on. If someone looks like Trump it's SJP who can't let go of that cash cow of a franchise. And I love SJP.

by Anonymousreply 49November 11, 2020 11:43 PM

No one wants this shit.

by Anonymousreply 50November 11, 2020 11:52 PM

You’re forgetting that no one likes New York anymore.

by Anonymousreply 51November 11, 2020 11:53 PM

Kim didn’t want to do the first movie then changed her mind. She made the second movie which made Samantha look like a horny, menopausal twat and didn’t seem to have a problem with that. Now she’s above it all and being bitchy about not wanting to do a third. She sounds exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 52November 12, 2020 12:04 AM

Kim and Cynthia Nixon have at least gone on to do some pretty diverse film, TV, and stage work. SJP did a bunch of terrible rom coms and Kristen probably needs this more than anyone. She was always the prettiest, but the most limited.

by Anonymousreply 53November 12, 2020 12:30 AM
Kristen probably needs this more than anyone. She was always the prettiest, but the most limited.

Remember the episode where she had sex with the Hasidic Jewish artist? They should get back together.

No, I didn't make that up.

by Anonymousreply 54November 12, 2020 12:34 AM

Charlotte was much more interesting in the first season. Then they turned her into a dingbat. Cynthia went back to the stage and has won three Tony’s since SATC ended. She’s even popped up on Law and Order. She’ll always work. SJP probably would have had a more artistically successful career if she hadn’t played Carrie.

by Anonymousreply 55November 12, 2020 1:25 AM

Is Kristen a lesbian?

by Anonymousreply 56November 12, 2020 6:36 AM

And don't forget Kim has Filthy Rich and she is quite good on it.

by Anonymousreply 57November 12, 2020 9:10 AM

R22

When Miranda moved out to Brooklyn it was considered equivalent of being banished by most Manhattan residents of certain socio-economic circles. That long not been true.

Scoring a townhouse/brownstone in any decent area of Brooklyn today is neither cheap nor easy. Miranda and Steve got in on the "ground floor" back then so to speak. In years after SATC people were bypassing Manhattan and going straight to Brooklyn.

Even today during covid-19 mess Brooklyn's luxury and townhouse market by most accounts is doing better than Manhattan.

by Anonymousreply 58November 12, 2020 10:02 AM

Query: Have we seen the last of SEX AND THE CITY ?

Answer: Yes, if there is a God we have seen the last of Sex and the City.

It isn't 1990's any longer and NYC had changed by early 2000's and certainly by 2010 onward.

Let it go!

If anything someone might want to start something new and fresh from scratch, but it is time to send those old hags to knackers yard.

by Anonymousreply 59November 12, 2020 10:09 AM
And don't forget Kim has Filthy Rich and she is quite good on it.

And don't forget Kim [bold] had [/bold] Filthy Rich. There I fixed it.

Canceled after 3 episodes...

by Anonymousreply 60November 12, 2020 1:08 PM
In years after SATC people were bypassing Manhattan and going straight to Brooklyn.

But still dragging their asses back to the shopping, restaurants and nightlife of Manhattan.

by Anonymousreply 61November 12, 2020 1:12 PM

Where has the edginess of 1990s New York in 2020?

I would stage a series there.

by Anonymousreply 62November 12, 2020 1:13 PM

R62 = oh, dear

by Anonymousreply 63November 12, 2020 1:44 PM

R10 is correct. The series and stories were supposed to be wrapped up. They did it sloppily three times but the story was supposed to be wrapped up.

Not that we need to revisit a 15 year old series, but they could write a spin-off series like FRASIER was to CHEERS. The focus of the series could be on Charlotte's new life. Same universe as SATC, but different focus. Maybe Mario Cantone, Smith and one or two other supporting SATC characters could be in it. Maybe an ex-boyfriend could pop-up every now and then. Every other episode either Kim Cattrall or Cynthia Nixon could be in the story line and make an appearance on "CHARLOTTE AND THE CITY". SJP would appear as a guest every now and then to complain about Big having an affair.

by Anonymousreply 64November 12, 2020 1:45 PM

Covid in the City?

by Anonymousreply 65November 12, 2020 1:47 PM

Give her a great Oscar worthy scene to open the movie where Samantha's breast cancer returns and she dies and set the rest of the movie with the girls coping with the loss.

by Anonymousreply 66November 12, 2020 1:55 PM

I kind of feel for actors who are part of successful series because when they feel it’s time to move on, the fans won’t let them. And they have to balance any sense of obligation they feel toward the producers, writers, co-stars and crew.

Kim wasn’t treated equitably from a compensation perspective during the show’s run. She no doubt made out well for the first two movies, and also fulfilled any sense of obligation by appearing in those.

At what point should she be allowed to put it behind her? Working with SJP wasn’t pleasant for her, the character was fun but it got really old after a while. What kind of lifetime obligation should she have?

Respect that she’s not participating in a soul-killing money grab.

by Anonymousreply 67November 12, 2020 1:58 PM

Kim is allowed to just say no and walk away. But, from what I’ve read, she came very close to signing for a third film then stopped negotiations because of money or whatever. She should have just said ‘fuck off I’m done’ from the beginning.

by Anonymousreply 68November 12, 2020 2:53 PM

Kim is in her mid-60s and getting good work in other franchises. It sounds like she was never treated all that well or compensated fairly for her work on SATC. That's especially unfair given how much she contributed to the success of the show. I don't blame her for not wanting to visit the Samantha character again and put up with all the cuntiness from SJP and her minions.

by Anonymousreply 69November 12, 2020 3:13 PM

Likely the "whatever" that made KC walk away for good was seeing the script where her character's main storyline was her sexting with a minor.

by Anonymousreply 70November 12, 2020 3:13 PM

I always figured a good concept for a new movie/season would be the gang getting together after a decade of growing apart for Samantha's funeral. Since Samantha already had cancer once, perhaps she could have it reoccur and kill her. Watching them catch up with each other's lives and have a few adventures in between would be fun.

by Anonymousreply 71November 12, 2020 3:27 PM

I just saw ep7 of Filthy Rich, so it was not cancelled after 3.

by Anonymousreply 72November 12, 2020 3:36 PM

It was cancelled after episode 3 but they’re showing the remainder of the season.

by Anonymousreply 73November 12, 2020 3:39 PM

Filthy Rich couldn't draw enough viewers from that all important 18-49 demographic.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 74November 12, 2020 4:24 PM

Kim will never have a better role.

by Anonymousreply 75November 12, 2020 5:02 PM

Plot idea-Big loses all of his money in a Madoff ponzi scheme so he and Carrie move to Queens. Fast forward 20 years, they've turned into George Costanza's parents, yelling at each other over the price of bagels.

by Anonymousreply 76November 12, 2020 5:03 PM

The problem with a 3rd Sex and the City movie or even a handful of new episodes would be that SJP would insist on Carrie still being cute and adorable even though her character was actually a narcissistic freak show. Even if Big was to die, I doubt there'd be any realistic conflict. Carrie would still go about her day on her little cloud of delusions. She wouldn't learn or grow and it'd just be her attending fashion shows and gallery openings to try and take her mind off of it.

by Anonymousreply 77November 12, 2020 5:37 PM

Not sure if this is true but I heard that a subplot of the proposed SATC3 had Samantha hooking up with Brady Hobbs Brady which pisses off Miranda.

by Anonymousreply 78November 12, 2020 6:55 PM

Kim is not going to play Samantha and that's the end of it. if we see it again someone else like Sharon Stone or Christina Aguilera or Jeremy renner will have to play Samantha.

Kim HATES SJP and does not want to be near her ever again.

by Anonymousreply 79November 12, 2020 6:57 PM

I'd love a third SATC movie just for camp value. Can you imagine a fiftysomething Carrie still prancing around like a teenager, trying to convince everyone that she's still the cute pixie of the late 90s? I mean, she was looking long in the tooth for that even in the last season of the TV show, which was over 15 years ago. Trying to put that over now really would be entering Baby Jane territory.

by Anonymousreply 80November 12, 2020 7:17 PM
Can you imagine a fiftysomething Carrie still prancing around like a teenager, trying to convince everyone that she's still the cute pixie of the late 90s?

And what would be so wrong with that?!?

by Anonymousreply 81November 12, 2020 8:12 PM

I don't think millennials would invest in the concept of elder sex.

by Anonymousreply 82November 12, 2020 8:58 PM

A long in the tooth Carrie wearing minis with knee socks and stilettos would be hilarious and truly Baby Jane territory.

by Anonymousreply 83November 12, 2020 9:32 PM
if we see it again someone else like Sharon Stone or Christina Aguilera or Jeremy renner will have to play Samantha.

I think Jeremy would make a great Miranda 🤣

by Anonymousreply 84November 12, 2020 10:03 PM

*Samantha

by Anonymousreply 85November 12, 2020 10:03 PM

I hope so.

by Anonymousreply 86November 12, 2020 10:03 PM

The prequel they did several years ago really sucked, didn't it?

by Anonymousreply 87November 12, 2020 10:05 PM

Sex and the City 3 - Trip to the glue factory.

by Anonymousreply 88November 13, 2020 12:23 AM

Big loses all his money. Carrie dumps him immediately and decides to ensnare the newly divorced ex-President Trump because she can't imagine downgrading her lifestyle. This leads to the end of her friendship with Miranda.

Charlotte, a staunch Republican, decides not to judge Carrie for her desperate whoring, but she too has a falling out after Trump grabs her pussy during a party and Carrie refuses to end her relationship with the orange blimp.

The series finally concludes with a toothless, coked out Carrie in a gutter in Moscow, snorting cocaine out of a battered Manolo Blahnik, trying to sell her body in exchange for drugs and alcohol.

by Anonymousreply 89November 13, 2020 2:15 PM

R89 I like that!

by Anonymousreply 90November 13, 2020 2:34 PM

R34, r76, and r89 are all good ideas. I would add that if the script is about Big dying, Carrie could start stress eating and gains 60 pounds. Then her skin breaks out and her already hideous brittle hair starts falling out. The girls have to stage multiple interventions as Carrie shops and shops and shops to mask the pain of being fat and bald.

by Anonymousreply 91November 13, 2020 3:17 PM

As long as they bring back Aiden so carry can fuck with him again.

by Anonymousreply 92November 13, 2020 4:27 PM
