I knew gay & lesbian bars were dropping in numbers but I had no idea we'd lost that man.

What's a bar?

Try doing something other than drag shows and strippers and offer beer other than Miller and Bud and you might be able to steal back some customers that moved on to better places. For most metro areas, gay bars are superfluous.

I don't know what's happening in small towns, but in urban centers, real estate has become way too expensive.

Lesbian bars have always struggled. The hardcore supporters of the bars tended to be "dykier" butch types with the big key rings and softball and motorcycles and "dyke drama" while the "uptown" femmes and artier dykes mostly stayed away and bitched about how awful the bull dykes were while moaning about a lack of places for their kind of lesbian but no one had the, er, ovaries to open their own bar; or, more likely, they were too cheap to open their own venues.

I discovered from comments at L Chat that apparently no one hates a bull dyke (or "butchy" as they call them) more than lipstick lesbos.

Lesbians aren't any different from gay men...lots of pointless bitchery and snark especially between all the different "classes" of lesbian. They're NOT one big happy family of clam divers. And, it's even worse now because the older lesbians have to deal with the new mega "woke" queer/non binary/trans crowd and it's a match made in hell.

Grinder fucked the whole thing up. Sad.

Why is everyone looking at US...???

There are 15 lesbian bars on Old Compton Street in London alone.

The coronavirus made things way worse.

Well exactly where are all the lesbionics getting their groove on these days? And when I say groove, I really do mean groove. Those gashes don't take care of themselves you know. The gals aren't meeting up at the market or the library, and they don't mix with all the bush queens in the public parks at night. Do they sniff each other out like house pets. Do lesbos put off some sort of dyke pheromones that draw others to their doors?

They have big house parties where they all scoff plenty of greasy food and then say they're feeling too fat for sex but would love to spoon.

Get rid of the obnoxious fat fraus celebrating their bachelorette parties with their penis shaped drink containers and we'll talk

Muff diving used to be all the rage. What's happening in this world? I guess they all just stay in on a Sunday and eat minge.

I question the accuracy of the count. Phoenix has a lez bar, Boycott, and it isn’t counted in the 15. They generally don’t beat up the stray gay who wanders in.Maybe that’s why it doesn’t count.

I went to a lesbian bar once with a lesbian friend (Im a gay man).
It was scary

R16, well, which one was it?
You can tell us.

Honestly I miss having our own bars. Straight bars are boring and at least at gay bars you knew if you wanted to chat someone up you knew you were talking to someone gay and not wasting your time chatting up a straight man.

I'm not r16 but I had a similar experience at Phase 1 in DC.

Lesbians and gays are disappearing.

I miss Rage and Tigerheat in West Hollywood. Lot of hot twinks, easy to drug and fuck.

R21 LA clubs were lame as hell even at their height. London always had the best gay clubs IMO.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 11, 2020 1:18 AM |
Even in the 1980s London had some banging clubs. Heaven was the first place I saw young gay men making out in public. Let's hope they all survive this grim year of lockdowns. They haven't been allowed to open since March.

If they're using the Damron Guide as a source, they're already suspect with their "facts".

There once was a lesbo bar on Cheshire Bridge Rd./Atlanta called 'The Sports Page' (now a gay bar called 'The Heretic'). During her years in Atlanta I saw Robin Roberts standing by a car out front one day as I drove by. She was talking to a group of quite butch gals. She was hard to miss as she was a foot or more taller than the rest of them.
