That would show easily under examination. This would be a laborious task and it would have to be done to thousands of paper ballots in order to make a difference.

I have some old art announcements printed on rice paper that are somewhat valuable. Unfortunately, they had been folded twice. By soaking them in distilled water and placing them between sheets of museum board under heavy weights I was able to flatten them enough to be presentable. But if you hold them up into the light the creases are obvious. Erased paper would show up, overstamped dates would show up.
