Eunice Kennedy Shriver Wore Her Grandmother’s Dior Wedding Dress to Get Married in Miami
In some lighter news, what do you think of this wedding? The Dior dress was not attractive, it looks like a basic Dior production line mess from the 1950s, but at least the bride has the right shape for it.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver was originally supposed to marry Michael “Mikey” Serafin Garcia in front of 200 guests. But about two months before the wedding, due to the pandemic, they decided to significantly pare the guest list back to their immediate families. “We both have large immediate families,” Eunice notes. “So siblings, their families, and our parents alone made for 32 guests. We were hoping things would have eased by October, but we came to the realization that [with] the way things were...

It's a beautiful dress. The bride, unfortunately, is not quite so gorgeous. It's clever how the photographer (or perhaps the magazine) has leant towards pictures that play up the frock and her figure but partially hide her face.

Uh, doesn't matter whether it's borrowed and/or blue, someone needed to get a clue; that car references a dark part of family history in a very creepy way.

R4 Yes! I thought the photos were really well done, but couldn’t explain why. You are exactly right. Those teeth are like the Kennedy version of hemophilia-you never know where and how they will appear in the family tree.

She's got that too-skinny horseface thing happening. Her dress was gorgeous and the ceremony seemed nice.

JFK just rode in that white Lincoln earlier in the day. He was actually shot in the Presidential limo which was navy blue and much longer. They probably picked the blue convertible for their wedding as the body style was introduced about the time he came into office and not only did he own one, the car personified the youth and optimism of his early presidency.

Eunice is still alive? Good God, I thought that last trip to the face sharpener did her in years ago.
Oh, there's a YOUNGER Eunice. Thank God it's not the old one,.

Miss Mary, get a fucking grip. He was not assassinated in a pale blue car.

I'm surprised Eunice Kennedy would have worn a strapless dress back when she got married. I'd have thought Rose Kennedy would have demanded her shoulders be covered in church.
It's a pretty dress. I like the sentimental touch of wearing her grandmother's gown.

It's her grandmother's actual wedding dress. You're bitching she didn't swap it out for a couture dress from that era? Wouldn't that defeat the whole point?
I get so sick and tired of Dataloungers' petty snobberies.

The bodice is new. The original may have been more . . . modest and demure.

Dior wedding dresses from the 50s often showed the shoulders and had low necklines.

I know, r18. It's just that Rose Kennedy was a staunch Catholic, and historically women weren't supposed to show their shoulders or even their upper arms in church. I think to this day women visiting the Vatican must cover their arms to some degree.

As expected, the original bodice was not strapless. Why on earth would Eunice Jr go for such a tired look as strapless? It’s been done to death and only looks good on one percent of brides.

This is how the dress looked originally.
Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy's dress for the day, however, had a deeply plunging neckline that flattered her ample bosom.

The original dress was much, much prettier. Not sure why the bride chose to go with such a basic design as strapless.

Beautiful dress with just enough "boho" to be different, but without entering tacky, Gunne Sax territory.

Jack Kennedy had that style Lincoln as his personal car in Hyannisport.
After his death, it became Eunices'.
Eunice used to hall the kids to sailing in it.
Eunice was more of a hands on mother than you would have expected. And like Jackie, she kept her children away from the rest of the clan.

Eat shit, cunt.
Fred and Ethel What’s their backstory, the Mertzes? Were they childless? Were they supposed to be the same age or was Ethel supposed to be the same age as Lucy? They acted like it. I don’t know why I think this but was Ethel his second wife? I get that vibe from Fred. And were they retired vaudevillians?

R16 Settle down. I meant the original dress was uninspiring. Dior had some truly stunning designs in the 1950s but this dress wasn’t one of them for all the bride was a Kennedy. It was very sweet that her granddaughter wore her dress, even more so since the dress was not one of Dior’s best.

Thank god she updated the bodice. The original bodice with the shoulder coverings was matronly abs dated. The short after party skirt is a mistake; far too short. The husband looks dumb. A man his age who goes by Mikey?!

The original was basically sleeveless which I thought was not allowed in a Catholic Church back then. I wouldn’t even call it a cap sleeve, it’s like an extended shoulder.

I agree that the dress is a Dior dud. The after party skirt was trashy, but I’m sure she felt more sexy. 🙄
