All Rise is the FIRST show to have all their actors wear face shields and masks! 😷

Is this the new normal? Is this jarring to you and takes you out of the story? Or is it more distracting if they don’t social distance and mask up?

Tat show is so fucking pious. And all the lectures.

by Anonymousreply 1November 1, 2020 6:11 AM

What the fuck is this? The mask thing has gone way too far. Shit doesn't even do anything, it's for show. Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 2November 1, 2020 6:11 AM

Turmptard @ r2 and blocked person @ r1.

Anyway, I love this show even though it's a basic courtroom show. Love the lead actress. Love the supporting cast.

They actually finished their season last year with the last few episodes were done Zoom style. So they're going for realism.

Covid is real. Just because you're in denial doesn't mean we're going to indulge your self-defeating fantasy. And it's happening right now. How unrealistic would it be for any show set in contemporary times not to address it? Even if it was to have some anti-masker as a character. And then we could watch that character die. Or eat Trump shit if it's a show about cooking.

by Anonymousreply 3November 1, 2020 6:22 AM

R3 It is a lecturing pile of shit with zero honesty or reality.

by Anonymousreply 4November 1, 2020 6:25 AM

I've been watching this show over here in the UK and I absolutely love it. I think Simone Missick is fantastic. Wilson Bethel and J Alex Bronson are so hot. The female cast have strong characters.

The storylines are very strong and smart.

It's a hit from me.

by Anonymousreply 5January 29, 2021 7:08 AM

Does this show have any gays? If not I'm not interested.

by Anonymousreply 6January 29, 2021 7:10 AM

I started watching it because Wilson Bethel is in it. He doesn't get to spend nearly enough time with his shirt off, so I came to notice he's quite a fine actor. And I like everyone else in the show, too. These are characters I like to come back to. It's one of three shows I actually look forward to every week, the others being Blue Bloods and Chicago Med. Yeah, it can be preachy, but I'm not minding.

by Anonymousreply 7January 29, 2021 7:12 AM

I'd have thought the title was pretty plagiaristic, after To Kill a Mockingbird had All Rise on its posters up and down Broadway.

Yes, I know it's something they always say in court, but it had an extra meaning in Mockingbird and none of the five million court procedurals thought of it before.

by Anonymousreply 8January 29, 2021 7:15 AM

Can't they just digitally remove the masks like how they took out Gary Sinise's legs in Forrest Gump?

by Anonymousreply 9January 29, 2021 7:31 AM

I watched [what's up of] the newest season of Law & Order SVU just to see the way they'd tackle the mask issue and it was infuriating. They played lip service to the fact that covid existed by SOME actors occasionally wearing masks but only as they were entering the scene and they'd take the mask off prior to getting real close to another actor to talk to them, which is literally the exact opposite purpose of wearing a mask. Like they'd be wearing a mask and then get into an elevator with someone and take their mask off before getting right in their face and flapping their germy gums at 'em. I understand that it's harder to act and speak when wearing a mask but the fact that they were so improperly and inconsistently masked was loads more distracting than if they'd just fully committed to it.

by Anonymousreply 10January 29, 2021 7:43 AM

I’ve had the same experience watching SVU as you R10. There is no rhyme or reason to their mask use.

There was another show I watched (I’m almost positive it was All Rise) where 4 characters stood across from each other, two on each side. They all had on masks, then walked and met in the middle, removed their masks and talked in each others faces.

by Anonymousreply 11January 29, 2021 9:48 AM

R11 Exactly. It's the way I imagine someone would have written a show that took place during the covid pandemic without having actually lived through it. Like, I am seriously concerned for the safety of these writers if that's actually the way they think masks work.

by Anonymousreply 12January 29, 2021 10:16 AM

Some of the best films ever made were made during World War 2, and they didn't even reference current events at the time.

People need escapism...not to be reminded of the sad state of the world all the goddamn time.

by Anonymousreply 13January 29, 2021 10:26 AM

If the show takes place on 2021, the actors need to wear mask. It is that simple. Would a show that takes place in 2020 or 2021 have people driving pintos? Wearing bell bottoms? They don’t need to make a show and dance, but it isn’t realistic to not have them wearing mask.

by Anonymousreply 14January 29, 2021 11:01 AM

I would imagine that the production company's insurance will mandate that actors wear PPE on set too.

by Anonymousreply 15January 30, 2021 2:17 AM

All Rise is probably one the most underrated show on right now.

by Anonymousreply 16January 30, 2021 5:09 AM

But some shows and movies that take place in 2020 and 2021 didn’t have people wear masks because they were filmed in prior to COVID. So does that mean the people in those shows are living in a different dimension where COVID doesn’t exist, maybe like on Earth 2? It’s weird to have them take place in the spring and summer of 2020 and have the characters jet setting across the globe on vacations or having the characters gather for a regular Thanksgiving and Christmas with tons of people as if COVID didn’t exist. Just look at all the Hallmark Christmas movies that are supposed to take place in 2020. The characters even mention it’s 2020 yet they’re in a crowded restaurant or squeezing to get into a subway train filled with people. Doesn’t make sense.

by Anonymousreply 17January 30, 2021 5:11 AM

I don’t want to see a show where they’re wearing masks. If I can’t turn to TV for escapism, I’ll look somewhere else. I’m not interested in ā€œrealism.ā€ Sorry.

by Anonymousreply 18January 30, 2021 5:15 AM

R18 I think that's gonna be every more difficult to produce TV programs like that. Over here in the UK productions have tended to be around two actors, socially distanced, acting their scene. Looks very weird.

by Anonymousreply 19January 30, 2021 2:31 PM

Can’t they just quarantine the actors and test them?

by Anonymousreply 20January 30, 2021 2:34 PM

Is "All Rise" done in El Lay? "Bull" actors wear masks, they shoot at Steiner Studiosat the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

by Anonymousreply 21January 30, 2021 3:10 PM

Dunno where it's filmed.

by Anonymousreply 22January 30, 2021 10:44 PM

I hate masks being worn on shows. I watch tv to forget about all this shit, not be reminded of it constantly .

by Anonymousreply 23January 31, 2021 1:57 AM

A black woman judge with finishing school voice and bumper sticker dialogue. How innovative. Come a long way, baby (not... black female judges checked all the casting boxes on soaps starting in the '80s).

by Anonymousreply 24January 31, 2021 2:04 AM

When I think of a black judge I always think of Legally Blonde!

by Anonymousreply 25February 1, 2021 9:47 PM

I won’t watch anything if they’re wearing masks. I can see that at the grocery store.

by Anonymousreply 26February 1, 2021 9:52 PM

I think we're gonna see more mainstream media masks tbh.

by Anonymousreply 27February 1, 2021 10:16 PM

this pandemic must be so hard for the celebs. Just last week I heard george clooney was having to sew his children some clothes

I'm not kidding

by Anonymousreply 28February 1, 2021 10:21 PM

It seems like most of the CBS procedurals are using masks.

by Anonymousreply 29February 1, 2021 10:31 PM

That's interesting. I wonder if that's an insurance stipulation or corporate policy?

by Anonymousreply 30February 6, 2021 10:48 AM

New episode this Monday, 2/8/21. Finally!

by Anonymousreply 31February 6, 2021 10:51 AM

If Wilson Bethel puts on a mask but sheds the rest of his clothes, all will indeed rise.

by Anonymousreply 32February 6, 2021 11:47 AM

R32 Absolutely!

by Anonymousreply 33February 6, 2021 4:50 PM

I see that the series is coming to an end in the next couple of weeks.

It's a shame, because I've really been enjoying the characters, the writing and acting has been excellent and the production has been enpointe too.

by Anonymousreply 34May 16, 2021 10:03 PM

The characters on Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 also have been wearing masks, although it seems to be abating, and I find it more of a distraction than a comfort

by Anonymousreply 35May 16, 2021 10:16 PM

I will miss The Wilson Bethel Program. I liked the other characters, too, and the storytelling, but make no mistake, for me it's always been The Wilson Bethel Program.

by Anonymousreply 36May 16, 2021 10:28 PM

R36 He has been super hot in it. I follow the programme's social media and it does look like they've been having a lot of fun behind the scenes. Wilson particularly so. He is very hot.

by Anonymousreply 37May 16, 2021 11:00 PM

Season finale is on tonight.

It's such a shame as it's a great little programme.

by Anonymousreply 38May 24, 2021 10:44 PM

Not if it's set during the pandemic. That's a slice of life that's real. it could be interesting to see stories about how people handled it or didn't. Funny stories and serious stories.

by Anonymousreply 39May 25, 2021 4:39 AM

True.

by Anonymousreply 40May 25, 2021 6:10 PM

Oprah Winfrey network currently in talks of trying to bring All Rise back.

by Anonymousreply 41August 20, 2021 9:30 PM

R41 That's fantastic news! I do wish it would be shown over here in the UK. I really love the series.

by Anonymousreply 42August 22, 2021 3:03 AM

OWN has now picked up the show for a 20 episode 3rd season.

by Anonymousreply 43September 30, 2021 6:38 AM

I was an extra on this show once and the director for the episode was truly terrifying. Never been on a set so full of fear before. He threw a glass against a food truck and it shattered all over the place.

by Anonymousreply 44September 30, 2021 7:40 AM

Remember the depression?

No one wanted to see it onscreen.

by Anonymousreply 45September 30, 2021 8:49 AM

R43 OWN are gonna run the show? That's fantastic!

So long as we see more naked Wilson Bethel, I'm here for it!

by Anonymousreply 46October 10, 2021 10:27 PM

The new episodes are streaming now. They've aired 9.

You can purchase season 3 on Amazon Prime for $9.99 if you don't have OWN.

by Anonymousreply 47August 6, 2022 10:38 PM

That's interesting.

I believe that season 3 resumes again soon on OWN. I can't wait to see more of Wilson Bethel. Yum!
