I'm bored and the cannoli ice cream I bought is kind of gross. (The fat whores in that other thread were way wrong about it).
What's a good, simple thing I can make tonight? I have basic baking ingredients on hand.

Brownies.

A mug cake.
I use this recipe except less sugar, substitute a beaten egg white for the water, and bake in the toaster oven for 7 minutes @350 instead of microwave.

by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 31, 2020 12:28 AM |
If your basic baking ingredients include a box of cake mix and some canned pie filling, you can make a dump cake!

Flourless peanut butter cookies -- three ingredients: 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg. Mix well, baked at 350 F for 8 minutes.

Hot chocolate pudding cake
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 31, 2020 12:43 AM |
Pancakes Barbara. Sounds real classy like but it’s just pancakes with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 31, 2020 1:02 AM |
Never underestimate how good simple peanut butter toast can be. Pairs nicely with a big glass of milk.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 31, 2020 1:15 AM |
Mud, no bake, you can make it in the mircowave.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 31, 2020 1:16 AM |
R11 Those look like they'd tear out tooth fillings or caps! No, OP, do not try that recipe!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 31, 2020 1:19 AM |
You can make fun of R5 if you want, but a quick dump cake is a great idea. Serve it in a pretty bowl, maybe with a little whipped cream or ice cream --- your guests will love it.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 31, 2020 1:21 AM |
R12, geesh so by a picture you can tell something like that? it is basically fudge with oatmeal. They are soft and sweet, quick and easy. Why on Earth would you make a judgement like that based on a picture? Obviously you don't know what you are talking about.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 31, 2020 1:31 AM |
R13, that’s funny that you think OP has guests. She’s eating the whole thing tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 31, 2020 1:31 AM |
Always keep a box of brownies in the cupboard, OP.

Vanilla biscuits - mix two eggs with 4 ounces of butter, add 4 ounces of sugar and then 8 ounces of self raising flour. Splash of vanilla. Serve with chocolate ice cream.

I, for one, would not eat raw eggs.

Raspberry clafoutis. Or, whatever-fruit-is-in-the-fridge clafoutis.
Basically it's a French version of a Dutch pancake, served as a dessert. And it's not that unhealthy as desserts go, if you cut the recipe down to 1 serving (1 egg and appropriate reductions of other ingredients), you're eating an egg, some fruit, and a little milk and sugar.

Katie Lee's 2-ingredient pumpkin spice cupcakes.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 31, 2020 2:15 AM |
Shortbread, OP. Nothing is better than shortbread. Nothing.
Although you also take a page from r20 and fix yourself a Dutch baby. Probably the easiest thing in the world to fix, and wonderfully delicious.

Apple Brown Betty, or Apple Cobbler. You can switch the fruit and use peaches, blueberries, cherries.

Melt a two-gallon container of chocolate ice cream by putting it in the oven on "warm" for a few minutes--then, grab a funnel and pour it down your throat.

Try a desert drink. My dad's specialty was a Brandy Alexander using chocolate ice cream.
Another dessert drink is the Velvet Hammer: blend vanilla ice cream with Galliano and Cointreau.
Another tasty treat is vanilla ice cream drizzled with Creme de Menthe.

Make 12 cookies with any boxed cake mix. Add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup oil to the mix. Bake at 350 for 8-12 mins. You probably could substitute 1/2 cup apple sauce or pumpkin purée for the oil.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 31, 2020 3:20 AM |
I always keep Duncan Hines cake mixes around fr last minute stuff. In the Fall I get the Carrot cake or the Spice cake. Mash a banana, or shred some zucchini, add pecans oil eggs no water and make some cookies. Or Add the water and make a cake or zucchini bread. Fast easy and really good.

For some reason, I read this at first as "but [bold]a quick dump[/bold] is a great idea. Serve it in a pretty bowl, maybe with a little whipped cream or ice cream --- your guests will love it."
And I thought, "They will if your guests are Danny Thomas and Chuck Berry."

Are you the bitch who complained about the "mouth feel"? I had a pint yesterday and it was delicious. It's my very favorite ice cream now. The only competition is Graeter's 150th birthday Birthday Cake Ice Cream.

Remove container of Talenti’s Gelato (flavor of your choice) from freezer, let it sit at room temperature for 5 - 8 minutes. Then twist open the lid and dig in with a tablespoon. Serves One.

It's in the oven right now! I used the recipe on King Arthur. That site is how I learned to bake bread.

OP / R49 Don't forget us! Please let us know the result.
The only 'shortbread' I know about is / are shortbread cookies so I'm very curious about the bread.

I guess "texture" is a little too complex for everyday use.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 1, 2020 1:06 AM |
It actually turned out very well. I added almond extract, like the recipe suggested. It is moister than I thought it would be. I really like it! I was going to add icing but that would definitely be overkill.

Then you bake the biscuit batter in the oven, you spaz.

The best fucking brownies you will ever make. - Melt 1 and 1/2 stick of butter. Addin 3/4 of cocoa powder combine well and let sit (this lets the cocoa powder bloom and intensifies the chocolate flavor). After 15 minutes, add in two room temperature eggs, one at a time until incorporated. Add in 1 and 1/2 cup of sugar and mix until smooth. Add in 1 tsb of vanilla, 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of baking powder and mix until incorporated. Add in 2 Tbls of water or if you have it, espresso or cold coffee. Add in 1/2 cup of flour and mix until just incorporated. At this point you can add nuts, chocolate chips, anything you want. Grease a 8x8 or 9x9 pan or use parchment paper to line. Bake at 350 for 1/2 hour and test. No more than 35 minutes. Let cool and cut. You can frost them or serve them as is. Better than crack.
