That was to cover England and Wales. The Scottish government is still insisting on introducing its own version of this daft bill but they have delayed it until after the Scottish elections next May because they're worried about losing votes, especially now that the bill was dumped in England and people are more aware of the issue now.

They're citing the Covid situation as the excuse for the delay, despite the fact that this bill has been knocking around for a long time and the Scottish parliament is mostly operating as normal. The Scottish government is also very reticent about publicising the results of its public consultation on this bill.

Ireland has passed a similar law, and it led to situations such as that of the delightful Barbie Kardashian.

I note that there's no discussion of introducing such gender self-id laws in the US. It would be really interesting to see how the US public responds to something like that outside of California. I wonder how popular a gender self-id law would be at a federal level in the US.
