Are you preparing for violence and/or lockdowns that could happen over the next few weeks?

I loathe King Donald with every fiber of my being, so although I realize the question sounds like it is coming from one of those ultra-loony right-wing "prepper" types, it is most definitely not.

In February I saw COVID coming and stocked up on shelf-stable food - none of which I've had to use, fortunately, since stores never fully shut down.

Now I think it's quite possible that some of us might soon be stuck at home for quite a while, either because of terrorist violence committed by enraged Trump cultists after his loss, or new lockdowns caused by the COVID surge. Or both. So I've gradually been filling our freezer and cupboards so that my husband and I have 3 weeks' worth of food on hand at all times, should worst come to worst. Yesterday I bought a bunch of stuff at Costco so that I won't have to go again until after the election.

Are you stocking up, or just assuming that everything will be pretty normal?

Well?

... and by "the election" of course I mean the one on November 3rd, not the *real* one on December 14th.

I bought a freezer and replaced the spare fridge in the basement. The fridge is from the 1950s and in great shape but cool doesn't mean practical.

Stocking up for potential post-election unrest as well as the coming month of covid surges. This isn’t Y2K. It’s real.

Funny enough, I take after my mother, who lives with me and who grew up during the depression and is prepared for WW III. I have about three months of food and stuff in the basement fridge and cupboard. We had no issue when Covid first hit-even had enough toilet paper.

What's amazing to me is that my local Safeway STILL can't keep paper towels in stock. But Costco always has plenty.

Oh dear! OH MY GOD! I live in Trump Country! There's going to be a Karen Apocalypse of OUTRAGE! I'm terrified! I better buy extra toilet paper! I NEED A BIBLE SO i CAN FIND THE COURAGE TO STOP WATCHING PORN AND START PRAYING TO THEIR "ANGRY" GOD FOR FORGIVENESS!!!

(Plus, I bought a gun.)

GOD BLESS 'MURICA!

What sort of violence are you imagining? What’s going to be happening in the next few months is a lot of people are going to be horribly sick and nobody’s going to have time for political showmanship.

I think things might get pretty bad in January-February... the economy isn’t nearly recovered, and a lot of people might face eviction. Not to mention, Covid cases are soaring again.

Moving to 20 acres in the country but 20 miles to a major metro area.

I read the wackos said a long time ago that they were going burn the this mother down if the Dems got back in. Frankly I think we need civil unrest, it's the only thing that will make the fanatical right wing scum scared, it's certainly not going to be the pussy Dems trying to always "work across the aisle".

I mean, the "president" is literally calling for his opponent to be imprisoned, and getting his adoring cultists to chant that at rallies.

This is severely wrong.
