Many years ago when I was first coming out I had an older friend/mentor who told me that I was lucky because there are fewer tops and A LOT of bottoms. I thought he was crazy - that everybody likes to fuck.

Quite often a request for my top services is accompanied by an explanation "I haven't gotten fucked/sucked a dick in ___ months/years." I'm not sure if it's simply a statement of fact, or it's supposed to gain my sympathy. Such things don't factor into my consideration.

I'm 95% top and I've never had a problem getting laid but I don't quite get why there is this impression that there are way more bottoms than tops around. I think it's a myth invented by picky bottoms!

As a top, I would agree that we are certainly more rare from a numbers perspective and therefore have the ability to be pickier when choosing sex partners. Still, there are plenty of specific interests out there that require specific pairings - no matter your position preference. Most bottoms want large dicks, but many can't perform very well with them once they hook one. Fantasy and reality are almost always very different things. I will say that the loss of CL was really bad for everyone - particularly if you are looking for closeted, married and/or men who are "straight" in their day-to-day lives. Some of my all-time favorite bottoms were DL married or "dating women" guys (at least according to their social media, etc.). My bottom friends also found tons of straight, cheating tops on CL. Posted ads received more replies and the posters were more prone to getting back if you replied to their ads. Doublelist just doesn't have the volume yet (no clue where those men went after the end of CL) and many DL guys are too cautious to download/use a gay app and get caught (it's far easier to open a secret free email account).

I was definitely more of a bottom in my 20s, and in my 30s I became more of a top. I've always had a very active imagination around sex, and as I grew older, I rarely met a top who topped me the way I wanted him to.
