R6 - maybe, but this is the first one I've seen and it's MADE for me. For a time, I looked through a bunch of old college yearbooks and saved any good pics I found. Maybe not all that exciting, but if you've got some time to waste...
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 20, 2020 10:10 PM |
Out of all the yearbooks I looked at, I thought this was THE handsomest guy. Maybe just because he is exactly my type.

I was a coxswain in college; 5'7", 128 lbs -- and I was considered too heavy.
The probably wanted me down to 118-120 lbs.
I had dreams of being around guys who were huge -- 6' 2", 200 + and we'd all be buddies and hang out. I wasn't even thinking sexual fantasies as much as making friends. Seriously, I was a late bloomer.
The boat I was on was kind of like the 'Island of Misfit Toys' -- one guy was 6'3" + but he weighed only a little more than me. There was a guy who was my height or even a little shorter and he was close to 200 lbs.
It was a mess. We weren't able to get it together. I've had experiences in my life where the reality met the fantasy, but this wasn't one of them.

I don't know if anyone really likes these old caps, if so, I have a gazillion more of them. Here's Ed Nelson (of all people) from an episode of "Thriller". Who knew he had such a nice, big ass?

I love that small window of time when gay porn was still forbidden, but was in it's infancy, probably 1960 to 1968. A few models bridged the gap from naked physique models to softcore porn. One of those was the guy in R19, Everett Jackson. He started out in those goofy AMG short films where all the guys good-naturedly took each others clothes off. But he also made a few hard-core porn flicks as "Cherokee". A few others who appeared in physique films and porn were Don Hawksley (R42) and Bob Jackson.
John Krivos (R20) was hot! He appeared in a lot of early gay nudie films, both under his real name and also as "John Novak".

Denny Miller did an Alice episode as an old buddy of Mel's; Alice is hot for him; they go on a date and he tells her 'I'm gay.'
She freezes and says; "I take it you mean more than just .... jolly?"
Then the issue becomes should Tommy go on a camping trip with Mel and Denny's character. Alice realizes she'd have let her daughter go, if she had one, so why not her son?

Are you guys arguing about that picture of the guys hugging in front of the girls?
The picture has been talked about here before. I think there was even a link to a story about the photographer who said the guys were in fact brothers which is why they were so comfortable displaying affection in public. He said the cropped photo was often mistaken as a photo of a romantic couple but given the time and place the men would have been practically suicidal to be so openly affectionate if they had been lovers. Either way, this was one of his more popular photos.

I've posted this link before in similar threads. If you're looking for vintage beefcake and nudes, this is a comprehensive and well-organized site. It's easy to waste hours there.
If you just want to see attractive guys of the past, some shirtless, most not, then the subreddit r/vintageladyboners is fun. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of contributions (and some people have curious ideas about what constitutes "vintage" ... and a "ladyboner", for that matter), but some of the men are really handsome.

Here's Don Deckman, a popular 1950s model, photographed by Pat Milo and featured at the site linked in R71. Milo was a well-known beefcake photographer of the era.
Notice the drawn-in posing strap. If the original nude version of this picture exists somewhere, I'd love to see it.

Looking at these vintage photos makes me wonder when did non-Jewish American males start becoming circumcised? I'm guessing after World War II was when it became routine to circumcise newborns.
by Anonymous | reply 112 | October 31, 2020 3:51 AM |
I'm an early 1950s boomer, r112, who went to Catholic school and public. I never saw a circumcised cock until I was in my teens. This guy and I were changing to go swimming in a friend's pool, and I thought his dick was broken, as it had no head. It was simply tapered from the tip to the abundance of pubic hair at the other end. It looked more like a broken cigar than a dick.
I felt so sorry for this kid, I took every chance to be nicer to him than I might have otherwise. A broken dick...ai, ai, ai.
I didn't see another uncut person until I was in my 20s.

Because nostalgia is the pearl beyond price in the corridors of lust.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | October 31, 2020 8:11 AM |
R112, earlier than that. My father was circumcised, and he was born in 1919 in an ordinary middle-class family in the South. I think it was early in the 20th century that circumcision became common, and the practice then spread steadily until it was almost universal by mid-century. There are exceptions, as you see in this thread, but (a) some of these guys are foreign and (b) lack of circumcision was considered somewhat backward and trashy, which is exactly the group porn models are most likely to be drawn from. (Some things never change.)

Here's what Wikipedia says:
"Although it is difficult to determine historical circumcision rates, one estimate[64] of infant circumcision rates in the United States holds that 30% of newborn American boys were being circumcised in 1900, 55% in 1925, and 72% in 1950."
Circumcision was commonplace in the US well before World War II.
