He's pissed.
John Fogerty serves Trump with a cease and desist order

Here's the song. How could ANYONE listen to this and think it'd be pro-Trump? He's literally singing about people like Trump who are the "fortunate sons."

I love him. Class act. Glad he's still alive.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 18, 2020 3:05 AM |
I didn't know he's a veteran.

Hope you don't mind me cosigning that, R2
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 18, 2020 3:09 AM |
Who?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 18, 2020 3:11 AM |
Uh, his band was before my time but I know who he is, R5.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 18, 2020 3:13 AM |
Fogerty should just let the orange shit stain use it out of irony.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 18, 2020 3:16 AM |
Serious question. How the fuck do Trump, his advisors, and even the people at his rallies not understand the lyrics? If I were to think of an anti-Trump song, Fortunate One would probably be my number one choice.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 18, 2020 3:18 AM |
R8, the song is Fortunate SON, you twat.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 18, 2020 3:20 AM |
Shit, I just came back to say I'd made that mistake, R9.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 18, 2020 3:22 AM |
R5, that response is so dumb considering I'm not much older than you and I know "Fortunate Son." It's in tons of Vietnam-era movies. There are certain songs and musicians who transcend time. He's not some obscure name from the 40s. And mentioning "born in 1980" makes no sense. Does that mean you don't know The Beatles?

Does tweeting "cease and desist!" have any legal effect? Fogarty's got lawyers, use them!

R11, you mean like Glenn Miller and Bing Crosby? Those guys from that decade?

CCR (Fogarty) is the music artist with the most #2 singles without ever having a #1 single.

R5; [quote]Who?
No, Who were English and not involved in Vietnam.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 18, 2020 4:45 AM |
R5, I'm younger than you and know who Fogerty (CCR) is.

R16, GFY.

Meanwhile, the Beastie Boys have licensed a song, "Sabotage," for use in a Biden campaign ad.

"I was on active duty for six months, but I was in the Reserves between 1966 and 1968," said John Fogerty. Soon after enlisting, he went through basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

It's no different than brain-dead politicians using Springsteen's "Born in the USA" because it sounds like it should be a patriotic song.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 19, 2020 3:58 AM |
I was wondering when this was coming from Fogarty. I also wonder if the Beastie Boys song at R18’s post would have been licensed for the campaign if Adam Yauch were still alive, especially given his Buddhist beliefs. I doubt it.

Can someone please nominate John Fogerty for a Congressional Medal of Freedom?
He's sn American living treasure. And at 75, the man's STILL GOT A VOICE. His pipes rival anyone's!
