I'm not really surprised, it was originally developed to treat Hepatitis and wasn't as effective as current medications.

It was also hopeless against Ebola and Marburg.. Mildly effective against SARS and MERS, but not the best treatment.

Gilead will have to develop a new virus that it does work well against, otherwise it's pretty useless.
