Gloria Estefan's Daughter "I'm a Lesbian"
Recalled Emily, “I was like, ‘Hey, I’m in love with this girl.’ The first thing you (Gloria) said was, ‘If you tell your grandma and she dies, her blood is on your hands.’ I just wasn’t ready for that.”
Emily went on to say that she understood her grandmother was old-fashioned and might not respond well to the news, but having her mother say those words made her feel like “whatever it is, hide it, it’s not OK.”
“That’s where my hurt started,” Emily continued. “I’m never going to forget that.”
After quietly listening to her daughter speak, Gloria said that she remembered things differently, saying, “Just like you were in that turmoil of emotion, you’re remembering things, as we all tend to do, in a different way.”

Emily is a total drama queen. She's annoying. As if she is the only gay person to come out. Me me me me me ! Gloria is very level headed in this entire situation. Yes, her closest friends are either gay of huge gay allies aka Rosie and Madonna.

If someone has found the courage to come out to you, it's imperative not to launch into that they SHOULDN'T TELL X.

My Cuban mothers family, all 5000 of them (kidding, but theres a LOT) never once acted any differently towards me when I came out. Nor to several of my relatives who did as well . In fact my one aunt built an apartment onto her house for my cousin since he wasnt going to get married and move away anyway ! He is married now,to his lovely husband, and they STILL live in that apartment ! Its in Coral Gables and its huge,I dont blame them ! Cuban people are very earthy and love to joke ,but to them family is everything. Oh there might have been some things said in the heat of the moment ,they are passionate as well, but when the chips fall, they would never turn their back on family over something like sexuality . My dads family,on the other hand, refused to speak to me again. Like i cared.

Just watched it R9 . It was very good. Emily did come off a little "me,me,me" but thats just her age showing. She seemed to realize how lucky she was that she never had to doubt her parents love . not all of us were that fortunate.

Is all this drama just to draw in viewers? Everyone wants to be a reality star.

I believe the daughter. Never liked Gloria whose career far exceeded her talent and likability. She's a Republican - she's only friends with Rosie because they were neighbors.
I can't get behind any Republican.

Again, Emily is a drama queen. Typical of her generation.

Emily already had "don't tell anyone" floating in her head or she'd have been out as soon as same sex romantic feelings occured. Gloria confirmed her fears by verbalizing that very same thought. It's not "drama queen" to acknowledge that.

Gloria was a public figure and she knew how the public can turn on someone on a dime and she was afraid for Emily being publicly humiliated . Gloria is older and she really didnt get how public perception has changed the last decade. She was simply protecting her daughter ,she thought . Personally , though its seemingly much more acceptable to be openly gay ,I also believe that the second you leave the room the straights think "fag" . Human nature hasnt changed that much ,nor will it ever.
