He is seriously one of the stupidest people on TV.
Watch in awe as Nancy Pelosi hands Wolf Blitzer’s ass to him
by Anonymous | reply 217 | October 20, 2020 11:57 PM |
He is a moron but she owed it to viewers to explain the details, not get bitchy with him about it and pull out that ad-hominem "apologist" bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 14, 2020 12:00 AM |
He seriously is an idiot. I've seen him on the actual Celebrity Jeopardy. I thought at the time like, as with applicants for law enforcement, one had to fail an IQ test to have Wolf Blitzer's job.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 14, 2020 12:04 AM |
Blitzer frequently makes assumptions about what is factual. Just because a person or two who are not in the know may have said something to him in passing, it is not necessarily true, so she was right to correct him, especially since he was insisting.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 14, 2020 12:05 AM |
It sounded like she was explaining things when the clip cut off. And she should get “bitchy”, Wolf wanted his gotcha moment and Nancy wasn’t having it. Plus he has the IQ of a fruit fly.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 14, 2020 12:05 AM |
Blitzer was a complete asshat that entire interview, right up until the end (not shown in that clip) where he said he hoped help would come soon, “we all see the rising homeless people on the streets...” whereupon. Nancy cut him off to ask him “And have you fed them? We have, Wolf. We have.”

by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 14, 2020 1:05 AM |
I stopped watching him, and CNN, the day he repeatedly (like twenty times in fifteen minutes) showed the clip of Hillary Clinton having trouble getting into her car during the 911 event in 2016. That told me everything I needed to know about the man.

I watched this happen and loved it. It's high time that someone called out CNN for their Republican apologists. Wolf was getting on my nerves with this phony pie-in-the-sky, "Well, why don't you just call them?" attitude, followed by his parroting Andrew Yang's talking points. Nancy was right to point it out: Yang's not a negotiator. He's not even credible. And still Wolf tried with the concern routine. He was pissed, and it showed, and it was brilliant. "You don't know what you're talking about." And later, from him, "I *am* compassionate."

It's the reporters' job to ask questions on behalf of the PUBLIC, and it's politicians' job to give interviews in order to inform the PUBLIC or make their case about something. Anything personal that goes on, like a reporter attacking the pol or the pol evading the question or using their appearance to grandstand is bullshit.
I don't have time for that. I'm not there to watch two individuals argue, like I'm watching a wrestling match and cheering for "my side". I want info, not feel-good drama.

That's what Wolf did R 49. It appeared to me that Pelosi was argumentative and much too angry for the circumstances. Wolf asked a legitimate question.

I cannot stand that CNN rolls out Wolf Blitzer to scream whenever they do coverage of major events. I dread every election when he announces predictions at the top of his lungs.
That said, this exchange is one they've done many times before. Nancy cannot go on the offense, now that the pressure is reaching a critical level. Dems and Rethugs alike have had months to generate this past due stimulus, and she cannot take it out on anyone but those colleagues she mentioned. CNN's reporting aint got shit to do with millions of people about to get put out on the street this winter.

by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 14, 2020 8:27 AM |
The $1200 should be retroactive back to May, June, July, August, September, and October = $7200. Corporate Welfare cheats get billions they don't need.

I just don't get how ANYONE - and I don't care how left-wing you are - could vote for her. She is a programmed, insane idiot. I wish he would have asked her what her net worth is when she was going on about needy people and their income.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | October 14, 2020 9:16 AM |
So much pressure. I would not want to be a politician on either "side", especially not at this time. She's 80 years old and needs to have a clear overview of so many numbers.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | October 14, 2020 9:29 AM |
Well, not everyone is so generous when it comes to this Pelosi's performance... By the way, let's remember that she has ensured that three stimulus bills pass, and over 90% of the money goes to corporations and oligarchs!
Oh, but she had a condescending tone, so she is a political genius!
by Anonymous | reply 75 | October 14, 2020 9:39 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 14, 2020 9:58 AM |
In the entire interview, Nancy reminded me of so many women I met in my life. First, when Wolf challengered her, she got all restless like the that bitch Sandy in high school when I called her out for stealing my wallet! Then, when Wolf doubled down his accusation, Nancy turned into my history teacher when I pointed out she was wrong. That "how dare you challenge me" face, it surely brings back old memory. When she referred Andrew Yang as "lovely", oh, that is my grandma when she described her neighbor. When she used the words "lovely" or "adorable", it mean "I don't like her and I don't care about that person." Lovely.

“Dems and Rethugs alike have had months to generate this past due stimulus, and she cannot take it out on anyone but those colleagues she mentioned. “
I’m more than sure that you are aware that Democrats had a new stimulus bill on Cunt McConnell’s desk back in May. But Republicans sat on it, let benefits expire, precisely to create this whole situation we’re in right now.
So why doesn’t Wolf Blitzer go after the Republicans?

So true R79, McConnell also said that he would not bring any new stimulus bill to a Senate vote (even a “Trump approved” version. So why should Nancy acquiesce? At this point any compromise agreement is performative.

I watch Wolf and Erin Burnett every night. My problem with Wolf is that he acknowledges that people need help from this stimulus package but he never mentions all of the bullshit Republicans have tried to sneak through. In fact, neither does Pelosi for that matter which I think is the Dems weakness. We all know that Trump is a used car salesman but giving SPECIFIC DETAILS should be first and foremost.
I mean...letting people know that Republicans want to protect corporations from being held responsible for unsafe work conditions that may contribute to employees catching Coronvirus is something that people should know.

I think there are some good points on the thread, but here's the thing: Wolf didn't come with any specifics like "the repigs are meeting your XYZ demands, yet you reject a deal" - which is a valid point. Rather, he came at her in a very condescending, heavy handed way, as if "people are rummaging through garbage cans and you're quibbling over a tax credit for pet goats." I don't blame her for being pissed- he was totally out of line, almost "Chuck Todd-like", if you will. That said, if you love Nancy, I was glad to see her swipe back at Blitzer and smack him hard and if you hate her, she's a shrill, crazy old lady. This exchange was a blip on the screen in a fast moving world.

Wolf Blitzer is a terrible journalist, asking flippant and impertinent questions to distract from the fact that Trump, the GOP, and all opposition to Democrats is 100% complicit for everything wrong right now.
On a similar note, I’m tired of people complaining that the rent or the taxes are too high in San Francisco. They need to be high to keep deplorables from moving in.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | October 14, 2020 5:38 PM |
He should have asked her about the differences in the 1 bills because in the middle of this segment she mentions that they are trying to squeeze in a tax cut for the rich and that they are leaving out tax cuts for families with young children. This is what we need to know. Especially because I saw a Republican this morning on TV accusing Nancy of trying to get in her pet pieces of legislation! This is what we need to know. Launching into attack mode was silly. Ditto asking her why she doesn't pick up the phone to Trump. Really?!

Yes, we know the rules: Republicans can lie, cheat and steal, and of course berate any journalist when they get, very mildly, called on their bullshit.
Democrats must all accept Republican talking points, must always accept being on the defensive as Republicans are just naturally righteous, true, always filled with the best intentions. And certainly no Democrat must ever, ever call out a journalist on their particular brand of Both Sides Bullshit.
Got it.
We reject those rules. Please and thank you.

Fuck him. He knew what has happened with Republicans the past few months and how hard she had tried to secure a deal - then, when they were just about to cut a deal - Trump says no stimulus until after he's reelected.
When that backfired in his face, all of a sudden Trump and Republicans want to pass something through ASAP. Wolf knew this - fucking bastard.

Chris Cillizza was just on with Brianna Keilar. The headline was "Pelosi pushes back against dems calling for stimulus compromise". Nancy mustve known some shade would be thrown.
As much as I dont care for Wolf Blitzer, I agree with Cillizza. None of the questions he asked were unfair or things he wouldn't ask another lawmaker. Cillizza also said policy making shouldnt get caught up in the personality complexes of the lawmakers. ZING!!! Bottom line they need to send out those checks ASAP

From r131 :
You can settle for peanuts now or negotiate for a bigger longer term stimulus package that will actually make a difference.
A short stop gap is fine but bending to unreasonable actors in McConnell and Trump ain’t really a smart negotiating tactic.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | October 14, 2020 7:10 PM |
Not to mention that the Senate isn't on board with any of this, anyway. And yes, Blitzer absolutely was buying into the Republican framing of the issue.
Think of it this way: Congressional Democrats have identified 100 items at the federal, state, and local level that badly need funding. Of those, Republicans are determined to vote for only 5 of them. If Pelosi agrees on the 5, she doesn't get the other 95. If she refuses to play the game and insists on a real negotiation, she might get as many as 75 of the items.
Obviously, I'm making up the numbers; feel free to substitute the numbers of your choice; the main point stands.

She would have made a terrific President.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | October 14, 2020 8:02 PM |
And of course this whole negotiation should be happening in May or June, after the House passed their bill, but of course the Republican Senate won't do shit about shit until it's past every reasonable deadline
EXCEPT putting fanatics and corporate whores on the Supreme Court.

R128 I think Blitzer comes and goes. I've seen more interviews with him calling people on their shit than less. I think maybe this was a strategy to get Pelosi to be more specific than just "Trump is Satan." And it didn't work--of course.
I mean...if you want to see a shady interview on CNN watch Erin Burnett. She shades gloriously. But Cuomo is the quarterback. The way he handled Cruz was beautiful.

Pelosi made a point to say "it will be retroactive"
Do you think people who don't have a dime to the name right now care about that? They want something passed NOW. They need money NOW. Nancy is living in an alternate universe and clearly cannot relate to the average American who has been hurt by the economy due to COVID. I read the other day that NY unemployment can be as low as 150 dollars a week - who can live on that? Forget paying rent or other necessities. You can barely buy food for 150 a week if you are a family of 4.
She doesn't care at all about the people - she only cares about her package that will benefit her special interest groups. Most of that money isn't going to "the people" - it's all special interests calling the shots. She's just awful.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | October 16, 2020 5:50 PM |
R153, nice regurgitation of Republican talking points. If you want something passed NOW, then talk to Mitch McConnell, who has flatly rejected both the White House proposal and the House Democrat proposal.
Pelosi is, in fact, ready to pass something NOW but it has to be sufficient to do the job and it has to cover what is needed. It has nothing at all to do with "special interest groups" and "most of that money" is indeed going to "the people," so basically, you're full of shit.

That Nancy Pelosi "clearly cannot relate to the average American who has been hurt by the economy?"

Contents of the House Democrat bill:
- Assistance to state and local governments to help them with their funding shortfalls and increased costs.
- Hazard pay for frontline workers.
- Extension of unemployment benefits.
- Forgiveness of student loan debt.
- Funding for testing, tracing, and treatments.
- Assistance to famers, farmers markets, and local food outlets.
- Protection to renters and homeowners from evictions and foreclosures.
- Direct payments to Americans.
- Housing assistance.
- Increased funding for food stamps.
- Assistance to the U.S. Postal Service.
- Funding for states to beef up election security.
- Assistance for small businesses.
- Assistance for airline industry workers.
- Funding for education and child care.
Yup, this clearly does just "benefit her special interest groups" and "most of that money isn't going to the people." Not.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | October 16, 2020 6:25 PM |
Pelosi is absolutely right about Blitzer's framing of the question: it's a Republican frame.
Oversimplifying this a bit, what you have is a scenario where House Democrats want 15 things funded; Senate Republicans want 3. If Pelosi gives in and funds those 3 items, it's a total capitulation and she has just handed those Senate Republicans a total victory. Even worse, those other 12 items will never get funded because there is no leverage left to bring Republicans to the bargaining table.
So what Blitzer is [italic]really[/italic] asking is, "Nancy, why don't you just give up those other 12 items and give Republicans exactly what they want?"
Blitzer has been around long enough that he knows how this is supposed to work: the House passes their version; the Senate passes theirs; they meet in conference committee; they negotiate and compromise. So he has no excuse for pulling shit like this and Pelosi has every reason to be pissed at him.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | October 16, 2020 7:34 PM |

Funny how you cannot seem to condemn McConnell, who has already said the Senate won't vote on either Pelosi's bill or the White House proposal. Or Trump, who first blew up the negotiations only to change his mind a few days later. And I love how you completely ignore what is actually in the bill that House Democrats have passed that includes precisely the "aid" that "a lot of people need."
That bill has passed the House, which means that there is one and only one thing standing in the way of getting that aid to the American people: Mitch McConnell.

As for Skeletor In A Wig, she says that "Trump just wants to send out a check with his name on it" in the video above (minute 07:00), and when the interviewer asks her what the problem is, she comes up with the excuse that more is needed... So, people should starve and not receive a cheque from the government, because more is needed? That cannot be negotiated later on?
Moreover, Democrats and Republicans alike supported the Cares Act, which is nothing more than an upward transfer of wealth - this woman, nor any other politician who voted for it, has any authority to yak about what they do for the American people.

LOL.... So being wrong, as you so often are, is preferable?

And why should Nancy allow the Republicans to pass a stimulus bill before the election? Bitch McTurtle has made it clear that the Senate's ONLY priority is railroading that Covid-infected Fundie Judge through. So fuck them.

R182 I didn't hear any concrete plan, she should be saying how people will receive actual help.

R213 - Maybe because we are in the middle of a pandemic, there are still people laid off and out of/or cannot go back to work. This has been going on since March. Even people with savings are starting to run out of money. The election will be a huge distraction and something might not get passed for another 2 months. Those stimulus checks and extra $300/week would help a lot of people and Biden can always amend and revise for more funds if he should win.

Why do so many right wing videos have that yellow font on the thumbnail? They are listed by different accounts but I’m starting to think it’s one person/organization churning them out.
