R2 she was in Patch Adam’s, Along Came a Spider, the original Saw and the TV series Parenthood

A couple years ago she had a TV show on HGTV. She moved her family back to the small town she grew up in . She bought her family home from her mother & did a total renovation of it. The TV show was about her family and the mega reno the house took.

It was a delightful show. Her family (mom & sister) were great and it appeared to me she was retiring from acting and settling into small town life.

She tried to open a shop in Cleveland too but it didn't last long. I think she did all that stuff more for her family.

I tried and 5 minutes in switched to the original. She looked fantastic in that movie though!

She was in this low budget romantic comedy called I’m With Lucy that I recall liking, even if her parents were played by Harold Ramis and Julie Christie as a yenta (!). Her various love interests were Gael Garcia Bernal, David Boreanaz, Anthony , Craig Bierko and Henry Thomas.

She killed her burgeoning movie career by resisting Harvey Weinstein, or so she claimed.

She has been open about the fact that on numerous occasions she refused to fuck Harvey Weinstein which led to her not getting the role in Cider House Rules. Her career suffered as a result

I first noticed her as the original Sharon on The Young & the Restless and thought she would have a major career. I remember her getting buzz in the 90s and her career going nowhere.

I believe her story about Weinstein because she suddenly went from roles in big Hollywood movies with stars like Robin Williams and Nicholas Cage to roles in bad indies with Grieco in like 2 years.

R15 One of the gossip sites posted a blind a few years ago about an actress who used the casting couch to get ahead; then getting revenge after she became an A-lister. Theron fit the clues.

I think that Theron is a better actress, but Potter would've been a better fit for that role in The Cider House Rules. Theron seemed way too exotic to play that character.

You have to realize, the perpetual A-listers who get all the good movie roles and rack up the awards are the ones who put out... ahem, M. Those of us who don't are saddled with indies, theater, and television.

Weinstein was kind of the Blacklist 2.0 for Hollywood actresses caught up in it.

I hated her character on Parenthood. But i used to watch that movie she did with FPJ on tv all the time when i was little.

I first (and pretty much last) heard of her when she did a Britcom with Joseph Fiennes, Rufus Sewell, and Saffy's shortarse fiance.

She was on a show that takes small businesses and gives them a “makeover”. It comes on after “Shark Tank” sometimes.

She had some candle or soap shop. A skin care line? Some absolutely frau-ey shit in a rust belt town. She had her whole family working for her and she was a remote micro-manager, if that makes sense. She came off as really neurotic, brittle and a nightmare to work for/with. There was a lot of crying, IIRC.

I don’t remember how it ended because I was yelling at the TV and had to change the channel.

She should have just had an online shop and promoted it via her social media. Her family could find their own employment.

She started that business for her family. I don’t even think she actually wanted it, but did it to help her family.
