The Last House on the Left 1972 version vs 2009 version
Which do you prefer of the two? And did you like them both?
I found the original really freaky, and interesting knowing it is Wes Craven's first film. The movie has that 70s odd vibe to it.
The 2009 version is terrific, and it would be perfect to me if not for the over the top moments (the father using a Microwave to explode Krug's head) toward the end. Otherwise, I loved this movie, although it felt very very sad and that rape scene was very hard to watch. I do remember rooting for the girl when she finally got away and began to swim away, and then my heart sank when the bullet hit her.
The acting was superb, however, and I found the 2009 version to have some eye candy. Its the film that introduced me to Aaron Paul and Tony Goldwyn (well Ghost was, but I was a kid and didn't know that was him). I had such a crush on Goldwyn and found Paul's eyes gorgeous. I found the actor who played Krug super sexy.

AMC is showing the 2009 this month along with tons of other horror films. Actually the 2009 remake is on this very minute!

I know the 1972 version was shocking at the time but it looks like a snuff film in 2020.
The 2009 film looks like an actual film and is pretty damn good! I agree about it going from a great film to being over the top in its final moments, but it’s forgivable.
At the time when it came out many critics hated the rape scene and criticized the filmmakers for making it so graphic.

The original because of the camp and the realism in casting. Villains looked like villains and ugly was on full display, which fits the movie. The song playing during the ending credits was way too chipper, just everything was twisted!

I remember the original version. I watched it when it was about eight, and I had a horrible panic attack when that poor girl is stabbed to death; I also kept vomiting and I had a very high fever, and my parents had to stay awake all night by my side.
Since then, I hate, hate, HATE slasher films with a passion.

He raped a young girl for like 3 minutes on screen. How could you find him sexy? I thought he was despicable, and it took numerous roles afterward before I could look at him in anything else without wanting to bludgeon him.

I didn't think it was that bad until i realized I'd watched an edited version of the movie. Sara did a great job with that scene.

The 2009 one is much better.

R8 oh if you watch on TV it’s highly edited.
The bathroom scene between the female villain and the dad is also super choppy because she’s topless in that scene, so when regular channels show it it is very choppy and Zoomed in
