iPhone 12

Just announced. Live event.

Yawn.

by Anonymousreply 142November 28, 2020 4:35 PM

I’m still hungry.

by Anonymousreply 1October 13, 2020 5:26 PM

Same boring form factor. 5G antenna (a year after the others). The colors are black, white, red, mint green, and an ugly blue.

by Anonymousreply 2October 13, 2020 5:26 PM

Are calls more fulfilling than on iPhone 1?

by Anonymousreply 3October 13, 2020 5:42 PM

I hope it has 17 different camera lenses!

by Anonymousreply 4October 13, 2020 5:43 PM

Buying it.

by Anonymousreply 5October 13, 2020 5:45 PM

I'm with OP... yawn. Its just a damn phone. A tool, an appliance.

I'll buy whatever gets the job done, and isnt made in China. I've got a midrange Samsung at the moment. It does its job good

by Anonymousreply 6October 13, 2020 5:46 PM

Samsung stopped making its phones in China over a year ago.

Apple still makes its phones in China.

I thought they were going to square off the corners. Then I would have purchased it.

[quote] It does its job good

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 9October 13, 2020 7:15 PM

I can't believe they didn't provide a drop date for the iPad Air 12 that they announced LAST MONTH. Fucking Tim Apple. He needs to go already.

by Anonymousreply 10October 13, 2020 7:17 PM

I kept hearing rumors Apple was going to come out with their own flip phone. Now that I would be interested in buying.

by Anonymousreply 11October 13, 2020 7:19 PM

Some Twitter accounts are saying iPad Air 4 preorders will begin this Friday and ship the 23rd, but I don't see it confirmed by Apple yet.

by Anonymousreply 12October 13, 2020 7:28 PM

They did square off the corners. It looks more like the 4/4s/5/5s

by Anonymousreply 13October 13, 2020 7:47 PM

They look rounded to me.

by Anonymousreply 14October 13, 2020 7:51 PM

How many extra hundreds do square corners cost?

by Anonymousreply 15October 13, 2020 7:53 PM

I need a new phone since I have a fricking iphone 6

by Anonymousreply 16October 13, 2020 8:23 PM

It still has the notch, but I find the notch cool.

by Anonymousreply 17October 13, 2020 8:35 PM

[quote] I need a new phone since I have a fricking iphone 6

You’re not alone, r16.

by Anonymousreply 18October 13, 2020 8:41 PM

Yes, design defects are wonderful! [rolls eyes]

by Anonymousreply 19October 14, 2020 12:31 AM

Make a phone that doesn't need a case

by Anonymousreply 20October 14, 2020 12:46 AM

I got an iPhone for work. Compared to my Samsung S10, the iPhone is heavy and slower to respond. Hate it.

by Anonymousreply 21October 14, 2020 12:51 AM

R16, same boat. I have a 7 and I really need a new phone. I’ve already replaced the battery and while it helped a ton, the battery life is still garbage. And my headphone port doesn’t work well. I’ve been waiting for the 12.. or should I get an 11 at a better price? Wait for the 13? What’s the difference? I might want a new phone before I go on a trip next month (national park) too. It’s stressing me out a little.

by Anonymousreply 22October 14, 2020 12:57 AM

IPHONE MARY ^

by Anonymousreply 23October 14, 2020 1:42 AM

Thanks but I'll stick with my Galaxy Note Ten Plus. It's bigger and has a much better display. Plus, I just like Android better.

by Anonymousreply 24October 14, 2020 1:47 AM

I can't stand how they tuck the camera lenses in the corner in there... RIGHT WHERE YOU PUT YOUR FINGERS WHEN GRIPPING THE PHONE IN LANDSCAPE MODE TO TAKE PICTURES.

If I had a nickel for every iPhone photo that had a fuzzy image of a finger around the edge, I'd be a millionaire.

by Anonymousreply 25October 14, 2020 1:57 AM

The iPhone 12 mini, which is the maximum size I like, looks good.

by Anonymousreply 26October 14, 2020 3:54 AM

The "notch" is such a horrible design.

I don't want pixels missing from my videos!

by Anonymousreply 27October 14, 2020 4:02 AM

R24 is a great big fat person with sticky sausage fingers who thinks it’s cool to carry around a flatscreen tv with him in his XXXXXL muumuu pocket

by Anonymousreply 28October 14, 2020 11:02 AM

It’s fucking stupid to announce products that can’t be purchased for weeks and months. I’m sick of pre-order bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 29October 14, 2020 11:54 AM

R29, Pre-orders for all phones except the pro max are Friday.

by Anonymousreply 30October 14, 2020 12:00 PM

And pre-orders are fucking stupid. You should be able to buy the product, whatever it is, the day it is announced. They should not announce anything ahead of time. These things aren’t shipping until mid-November.

by Anonymousreply 31October 14, 2020 12:07 PM

I’d like to get a new phone since I’m on the 6 but I can’t see spending almost $1,500 on one.

I would also have to buy a new case and multiple chargers as well.

by Anonymousreply 32October 14, 2020 12:11 PM

Apple is making phones in India now or will be

by Anonymousreply 33October 14, 2020 12:12 PM

Look at all these Eldergays buying this overpriced garbage claiming they're "tech savvy". Laughable. Nothing savvy about Apple products.

by Anonymousreply 34October 14, 2020 12:39 PM

Hey! I’m on the Twitterbook, r34!

I’m tech savvy!

by Anonymousreply 35October 14, 2020 1:04 PM

I bought an iPad Air 3 and it pooched within a year. The replacement one is starting to do the same thing, with one month til the warranty expires. It seemed like at one time you could depend on an Apple product lasting forever, and for its operating systems to be rock solid. That doesn't seem to be the case, now. I've had my Surface for nearly two years with nary a problem. I suspect Apple is beginning to rest on its laurels rather than provide quality products.

by Anonymousreply 36October 14, 2020 1:24 PM

Want a charger? That's extra.

Want ear buds or headphones? That's extra.

Apple... over-priced, and then soaking you for even more after-the-fact.

Talk about a "Greedy Corporation"...

by Anonymousreply 37October 14, 2020 1:54 PM

[quote]It seemed like at one time you could depend on an Apple product lasting forever,

I had the same experience with my MacBook Pro. It was wonderful until it wasn't.

The battery had problems. And then the screen went blank. Was told at the store, "It will cost $750 for the screen, but I would recommend doing it as these MacBooks are so reliable."

"Apparently, not." I dryly replied to the "Genius" Bar.

by Anonymousreply 38October 14, 2020 2:42 PM

R37 I love how Apple spun not providing you with any accessories -- unless you pay al a carte -- 'cause saving the environment.

You gotta hand it to them -- they are shameless.

by Anonymousreply 39October 14, 2020 2:44 PM

r30, the pre-order for the 12 mini is in Nov

by Anonymousreply 40October 14, 2020 2:46 PM

R33, Apple will assemble a limited number of iPhone in India for the Indian market.

99% of Apple's manufacturing is in China.

Samsung assembles its phones in Vietnam now.

by Anonymousreply 41October 14, 2020 2:49 PM

I don’t know about everyone else, but my Apple products have lasted years, including an iPad I bought when they first came out. My first MacBook Pro is still going strong after 11 years, and a second is still going strong after 5 years. A friend was buying cheapie tablets for a few years, and they all conked out. He ended up buying an iPad because his wife’s iPad was going strong after three years. I think these stories of bad Apple quality are anecdotal (yes, I know I just gave anecdotal stories). All of the metrics and data point to their quality and long-lasting attributes.

by Anonymousreply 42October 14, 2020 3:02 PM

But older ipads (even the original ipad mini) are no longer able to be updated to newer iOS and tus many apps won't work on them.

They become outdated music players and web browsers.

by Anonymousreply 43October 14, 2020 3:07 PM

That’s true of all technology, r43. In fact, I do use an old iPhone 5 for playing music through speakers at my business.

by Anonymousreply 44October 14, 2020 3:47 PM

[quote]Want ear buds or headphones? That's extra.

In all honesty, the included ones suck and always have. I have several sitting around the house (or lost) between my husband and my purchases over the years (and it's not like we're annual adopters; husband still has a 7+ and I JUST went from a 6S to an 11 last fall). I'm sure plenty of people who buy the phones won't use their included ones, either.

The new lighting->USBC cable that's included is actually nice. I've purchased two of those for my 11 (which you need for fast charging, which you NEED for these new phones) and they aren't cheap. Sucks there's no adapter, but oh well. I love the blue color and the old 5 design (best they had), but my tech purchase this year will be a PS5 so it's a no for me.

Husband wants the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I wanted to hold out for TouchID to come back but cracked last year because I wanted a new camera for our trips abroad and the tea leaves were saying no TouchID this year. A HUGE blunder for Apple given all the mask bullshit & FaceID.

by Anonymousreply 45October 14, 2020 4:03 PM

R36 me too. I’m on my FOURTH Face ID iPad Pro in 15 months. They just suddenly stop charging and on one the frame warped. For the last one when I made my semi-regular frustrating trudge into an Apple store to plead my case , they didn’t even blink, just handed over a new one. I guess the issues are piling up with them now. No issues ever before with any Apple product.

by Anonymousreply 46October 14, 2020 4:07 PM

I had the 6S until it died last year, so got the 11, which i thought was terrific until the pandemic hit. No more fingerprint ID, which sucks now, because of masks. I love all my little ipods, but most of them have hit the dirt- I still have one mini and a nano that I'm always losing. Although the watch (I got a used series 4) is becoming my secret favorite- I can go on a run and stop at the store after without needing to bring a phone or cards.

by Anonymousreply 47October 14, 2020 8:16 PM

No one cares. The cost is just masturbatory. Fucking ridiculous even for those of us with money to burn.

by Anonymousreply 48October 14, 2020 9:45 PM

^^Humble brag.

by Anonymousreply 49October 14, 2020 9:49 PM

When did Tim Cook turn into a lesbian?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50October 14, 2020 11:16 PM

This matters to me as I recently dropped my iPhone 7 (which I love) and shattered the glass. The return to iPhone 5 type design, along with use of new material might persuade me to pony up for one. Was hoping for touch ID as well.

^ Allegedly 4x better drop performance.

by Anonymousreply 52October 15, 2020 8:05 AM

Touch ID >>>>>>>> Face ID. Bring it back Tim Cook.

by Anonymousreply 53October 15, 2020 8:09 AM

I have an iPhone 5, and my MacBook Air is from 2011. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 54October 15, 2020 8:34 AM

I just bought the 2020 SE.

I could afford a more expensive phone, but was feeling cheap and I wanted to buy it outright.

Do people here lease/finance their phones?

by Anonymousreply 55October 15, 2020 10:01 AM

R55 Paid cash on the barrelhead for my Samsung Galaxy A31

by Anonymousreply 56October 15, 2020 10:27 AM

R45 you don't NEED fast charging if you're just charging the phone overnight. A standard charger will do. Only if you are at low battery and you need a 20-40% charge boost does the fast charging actually works.

I suggest people not fast charge as often as it creates a lot of heat and degrades the battery faster.

by Anonymousreply 57October 15, 2020 12:33 PM

^ fast charging actually work.

OH DEAR

by Anonymousreply 58October 15, 2020 12:34 PM

Lots of mindless slaves to Apple here... sad.

When did Apple get boring? It was a while ago. I don't understand the devotion anymore. Over-priced and mediocre.

by Anonymousreply 59October 15, 2020 1:32 PM

Most phones are boring R59. I think that is why a lot of people really enjoyed Motorola coming out with the retro razr, even though spec wise it is not very good. For me my next phone will be the razr, in a year or two and hopefully they will have vastly improved it.

by Anonymousreply 60October 15, 2020 3:31 PM

I'm so used to apple products and dont feel I'm missing anything at all.

Plus, they last forever and just work.

by Anonymousreply 61October 15, 2020 3:56 PM

They really don't R61. Not anymore.

by Anonymousreply 62October 15, 2020 9:43 PM

Can someone, in very plain English, explain what benefit I would reap from upgrading from my iPhone 11 that I bought last year?

by Anonymousreply 63October 15, 2020 10:15 PM

I certainly can’t, r63.

If you just spent $1,500 on a phone last year, I can’t imagine anything this phone is going to do is much different than what you have now.

by Anonymousreply 64October 15, 2020 10:19 PM

There is literally no reason to upgrade if you got a new iPhone in the past two years. Literally zero reason.

by Anonymousreply 65October 15, 2020 10:39 PM

I got an X when they first came out in 2017. It runs great, but I’m looking forward to the bigger screen of the Pro Max. I change phones about every four years—this is the first time I’ve upgraded after three years. Btw, my older phones were handed down to various kiddie relatives.

by Anonymousreply 66October 15, 2020 10:57 PM

The main reason to upgrade is 5G potential.

I say potential because there is barely any 5G available in the US now.

If you already have a recent phone it’s probably better to keep it another year or two and buy a more advanced 5G phone when there is more 5G .

by Anonymousreply 67October 16, 2020 3:14 AM

5G is no reason to upgrade right now. Almost nobody has it. And almost nobody will have it in any significance for years.

by Anonymousreply 68October 16, 2020 6:10 AM

R68, rollout has started this year, with select cities now having it, but you’re right, it’ll be about 3-5 years before it’s pretty much the norm.

by Anonymousreply 69October 16, 2020 12:11 PM

The new iPad Air went on preorder today. I'm shocked Apple was so cryptic with this. Hope it lives up to its hype.

by Anonymousreply 70October 16, 2020 12:33 PM

r70, I noticed the iPad air has Touch ID, the regular iPad doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 71October 16, 2020 12:53 PM

My new SE has 5G capabilities. I turned it off so it's utilizing 4G; there's just no point as others have said.

by Anonymousreply 72October 16, 2020 1:20 PM

The iPad Air 4 has Touch ID at the top right corner on the side on the device, the iPad 8 still has the Touch ID button on the bottom center of the face,

by Anonymousreply 73October 16, 2020 1:21 PM

R72, the SE does not have 5G compatibility

by Anonymousreply 74October 16, 2020 1:56 PM

R32, what phone provider are you with? T mobile offers a pretty good deal for trade-ins.

I'm looking into the cost of a 12 pro today.

by Anonymousreply 75October 16, 2020 4:00 PM

All the iPhone 12 line (12, mini & pro) have 5G compatibility.

by Anonymousreply 76October 16, 2020 6:02 PM

R66, I have an X, too, and the battery is a disaster. I’m getting a Mini. I hate huge phones and am nostalgic for the early ought years when the goal was to make phones as small as possible. I would rather go back to a flip or candybar phone than carry around a six inch screen.

by Anonymousreply 77October 16, 2020 6:07 PM

R54, if your items still function properly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having those older models.

I had the 4 for about 4 years and only bought the 6 since the 4 finally died on me. And then had the 6 for 2 years until I stupidly shattered the screen, but only upgraded to the 7. I plan on having this phone for at least another couple years unless it too gives out on me.

Like R77, I also think I would like the mini since I don't have the need for a gigantic phone, but I think I can wait until it drops in price and is no longer the new thing anymore.

by Anonymousreply 78October 16, 2020 6:24 PM

Is this new model going to allow us to record voice memos in stereo? Apple is so slow to utilize even the hardware that’s already in the fucking phone, whenever they do finally add it.

Only with the most recent models of iPhones can you finally record videos with stereo sound, but they’re too stupid/“business savvy” to hook up the same stereo mics to the voice memo app.

by Anonymousreply 79October 16, 2020 6:45 PM

R78, the mini isn't all that mini. It's a tiny bit bigger than the 6s

by Anonymousreply 80October 16, 2020 7:28 PM

[quote] I have an X, too, and the battery is a disaster.

Unfortunately, after about a year, all iphone batteries become disasters

by Anonymousreply 81October 16, 2020 7:45 PM

Ugh. Apple’s ads and artwork have been so hideous since Steve Jobs died.

by Anonymousreply 82October 16, 2020 8:04 PM

I've had my X for three years (in early Nov) and the battery didn't really start to degrade until this year. It'll still standby forever, but use it and it very noticeably drains a lot faster.

by Anonymousreply 83October 16, 2020 10:03 PM

Is the 12 mini the same size as the 6/7/8 or the 5?

by Anonymousreply 84October 16, 2020 10:20 PM

R84, slightly bigger than the 5 but with the same sized screen as the 8 because of no bezel

by Anonymousreply 85October 16, 2020 10:25 PM

Thanks R85. If I get one I think I might get that. I tried the SE but sent it back cuz the screen seemed to small after the 10/11 etc. so not sure how i;ll feel about the mini. Want to see it in the store.

by Anonymousreply 86October 17, 2020 4:39 PM

yaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnn

by Anonymousreply 88October 17, 2020 6:02 PM

R87, the 6 isn’t in that comparison chart.

by Anonymousreply 89October 17, 2020 11:25 PM

R89, the six is EOL and not part of what they sell anymore.

by Anonymousreply 90October 17, 2020 11:32 PM

I know they don’t sell it anymore but if you look at the comments on this thread most are questioning the size relative to the 6.

by Anonymousreply 91October 17, 2020 11:47 PM

The SE 2 (also commonly called SE 2020) is the same size as the old 6s. But, I'm not sure if the 6 and 6s were the same size.

by Anonymousreply 92October 18, 2020 1:55 AM

r87 That chart is wrong. They've labled the 12 as the mini and haven't featured the mini at all. There are 4 iPhones in the 12 range:

1. iPhone 12

2. iPhone 12 mini

3. iPhone 12 Pro

4. iPhone 12 Pro Max

Again, the mini is smaller and missing from that chart.

by Anonymousreply 93October 18, 2020 11:47 AM

Black = Mini

White = 12

Blue = Pro & Pro Max

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 94October 18, 2020 11:52 AM

r93, the chart is correct. The 2nd phone from the left is the 12 Mini.

Are you the guy from the other thread who accidentally took all his edibles at once?

by Anonymousreply 95October 18, 2020 12:20 PM

I find iPhones less and less attractive and user friendly with the enormous range of apps these days. anyone else feel this way? I still love the Mac laptops.

by Anonymousreply 96October 18, 2020 12:34 PM

[quote] the chart is correct. The 2nd phone from the left is the 12 Mini.

That means the 12 is missing, then.

by Anonymousreply 97October 18, 2020 1:08 PM

r97, lol, no, it isn't. Read the descriptions under the images of the phones. All the 12 models are listed. All the currently sold models, back to the original SE are presented in the graphic.

by Anonymousreply 98October 18, 2020 2:00 PM

R98 is right, the 12 and the 12 Pro are the same size and are listed under the same phone.

by Anonymousreply 99October 18, 2020 2:02 PM

I got the 12 pro pre-ordered I'm so excited. Been on Android since 2015 so this will be interesting

by Anonymousreply 100October 18, 2020 4:12 PM

Yeah, you're going the wrong way, R100. You're not supposed to join the cult after you've escaped it.

by Anonymousreply 101October 18, 2020 4:34 PM

What's "the cult"? I've been gone back and forth between Apple and android and all phones are "meh". Maybe the technology is great, but how can having a phone be anything other than "meh." It's an appliance. I guess if you're an intense gamer or someone who really enjoys taking pictures. But otherwise?

by Anonymousreply 102October 18, 2020 5:20 PM

My 7 suits me fine

by Anonymousreply 103October 18, 2020 5:26 PM

I love the redesign. In terms of fit and style, my favorite has been the iPhone 5S. I never had a cracked screed and I loved the size. For men, it was the perfect size if you wear fitted clothes. I went to a 7 and have had to replace the screen 3 times. I'm majorly due for an upgrade. I think I might due the 12 mini. Does anyone know if the screen size is the same as the 7? There is no wasted screen space on it. I'm getting higher memory. My memory is shit now on my phone.

by Anonymousreply 104October 18, 2020 5:26 PM

Interesting there's a mini when other phones go bigger. I've always liked a smaller size.

by Anonymousreply 105October 18, 2020 6:16 PM

Me too, R105. The 5S was one of the more popular sizes. Now they will extend the screen from end to end giving as much space as a 7. It also grips nicely in your palm. If you use your phone for movies, books, etc, the regular might be the way to go. I need a new laptop and phone by early 2021. My macbook is still doing well from 2013. The iPhones don't last as long. I don't have enough memory to get the new iOS which limits the functionality. I used to love getting the phones every year, but since 2017 or so, it's just not that exciting.

by Anonymousreply 106October 18, 2020 6:35 PM

[quote] I've been gone back and forth

Oooh, we should date.

by Anonymousreply 108October 18, 2020 7:42 PM

I would love a phone with that advanced of a camera (iPhone or otherwise) but I can't bring myself to spend that much money. Maybe next year I'll get the 11.

by Anonymousreply 109October 18, 2020 11:25 PM

R96 You can choose not to install apps... no one is forcing your hand MARY!!!

by Anonymousreply 110October 19, 2020 3:37 AM

iPhone's are no different from their predecessor. Same old design configured larger or smaller with the only difference being technology. I have an iPhone, but have tired of Apple and their inability to innovate.

by Anonymousreply 116October 19, 2020 2:38 PM

Honestly they're both fine - apple, android.

by Anonymousreply 117October 20, 2020 7:46 PM

I am excited about a more durable phone. The iPhone and android have sleek, sexy designs in their original forms. Then they are bulked up with this hideous cases. I'd love to just not have a case on the phone, but that did not work out well on my 7.

by Anonymousreply 118October 21, 2020 2:27 AM

I hate bulky cases too. They make lightweight and sleek but strong cases - carbon fiber and other materials.

my very rich uncle refuses to spend 1000 bucks on phones. He would rather spend it on other things. He uses a blackberry for work and also another andriod, I think it's google pixel. He doesn't do much apps. just texting and a few selfies with family and friends.

I’m in agreement with him, and I’m far from rich.

I'm the iPhone Mary above and I ordered the 12. Can't wait.

by Anonymousreply 124October 22, 2020 2:37 AM

I am waiting to order the mini...I don't need to show off, I have a big cock

by Anonymousreply 125October 22, 2020 4:27 AM

The mini looks like the right replacement for my dying 6s

I love you for this.

My iPad Air was just delivered. I ordered the green one and am a little disappointed because it’s very translucent and metallic and barely perceptible as green. I was hoping it would be more saturated like the green iPhone 11 I have.

However the screen is nice and big and it’s much lighter than my current iPad which is what’s most important to me.

I have an iPhone 7 -- I can't think of a reason to replace it or upgrade.

Hi guys, I want to buy an unlocked iphone in the USA. I want to send it to the UK as an xmas gift for my niece. Will the unlocked phone work there? TIA!

by Anonymousreply 130November 27, 2020 9:03 PM

R130, yes an unlocked iphone purchased in the US will work in the UK. Your niece will need to purchase a new charger however.

I've had the 12 Mini for a couple of weeks now. Absolutely love it. I'm a fan of smaller phones that fit in your pocket and can be operated with one hand. I used my original SE for years until the battery finally wore out. Last spring I got the new SE, as it appeared to be the only option. I didn't like it at all. Cheap, plastic feel and terrible, rattling sound on the external speaker. Of course, not long after I got it Apple announced their new phones. I swallowed my pride and forked over, and I have to say it was worth it. The 12 Mini has that classic Apple feel and performance. Pass that Kool-aid!

As a stock owner, I want to thank all who are buying.

AND, if you don't have Apple stock, I would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO BUY. The stock split about a month ago so it is more affordable at a little over $100. This is how you make money ladies, just start buying as it is really easy to do (granted, you have to have some money to get in and you need to buy the right stock). But with Apple, you will be so glad when you see your investment, double, quadruple, etc.

I took this advice from someone years back and I am very thankful I did and I am in a better position for retirement and feel more at ease about finances.

R132, I love how light and small the 12 mini is!

by Anonymousreply 134November 27, 2020 10:22 PM

I got my free 12 with T Mobile ...It's meh. The battery on y iphone 6s plus was crapping out otherwise I would have kept it.

by Anonymousreply 135November 27, 2020 10:30 PM

I’m a true Apple fanboy and would not buy it.

No USB-C? Fuck you Apple.

5G? The 10% of the country that actually can get 5G speeds, and then the 1%, of that 10%, who will actually benefit from 5G speeds thanks you. Otherwise ... Fuck you Apple.

No Touch ID? Fuck you Apple.

If you have a 6 or 6S, and like iPhones, then the iPhone 11, iPhone XR or iPhone SE if you like a smaller phone, is by far the smarter buy.

The M1 computers are tempting to me right now, but the phones, while not bad, are not worth upgrading if you have an iPhone 7 or newer.

by Anonymousreply 136November 27, 2020 10:34 PM

R136, I agree.

I upgraded solely because I had a 6s. While the 6s worked fine, the battery just died too quickly (like over 3 hours).

While the 12 is fast, the 5G is useless.

If you can wait until 5G is everywhere, don’t buy a phone for 1-2 years. This way you’ll get the latest technology at the same time you’ll be able to use 5G

by Anonymousreply 137November 27, 2020 10:46 PM

That multi-lens business on these new phones is actually repulsive to look at. So much for the gay (CEOs) having taste and style.

by Anonymousreply 138November 27, 2020 11:50 PM

R136, thank you for the info.

I'm looking at the M1 laptops as well.

I just did a tech upgrade in the last week. I had an iPhone 7 from 2017 and a Macbook Pro from early 2014. First, I LOVE the iPhone 12 mini. It's awesome! I was really on the fence but I loved my iPhone 5S back in the day and the mini is the perfect size. The screen feels much bigger than my 7 while being small to fit in my pocket easily. I like fitted, tailored clothes and the mini is so much better. I can shove it in my back pocket, hold it one hand, and don't feel like I am sacrificing anything. I also love the square, thicker, iPhone 5-esque casing. It's so much easier to hold than the flatter 7. For the gym, it's not to heavy when I'm running or doing cardio. The 7 has slipped out of my hand on multiple occasions that I have had to replace the screen 3-4 times. It's too early to tell on the mini, but I love it and I don't get excited about these things anymore. Everyone wants the iPhone Pro Max. It's huge. Unless you are making a movie, are an influencer, or really are into creating digital content, it seems like a lot. But, it's pretty powerful. It's too big, but a lot of people want massive screens.

R139 - I got the M1 Macbook Pro last week. I love it. The one difference I have noticed is that the battery lasts forever. I'm on my laptop all day and the battery life maybe goes down to 70% max. My Macbook 2014 is still working, but the memory is full and may have a virus, but it still works fine. I use it at home. The 2K investment for 6 years is not bad.

iPhone Mary here: I am pleased with the iPhone 12. Battery life, speed and camera are all plus for me. The camera is stunning. My 7 was dying - battery no good, headphone port shot, and it started freezing with every text.

My MacBook Air is 7 years old, but still kicking for the most part.

Next up is a TV..

by Anonymousreply 141November 28, 2020 4:31 PM

Agree! My iPhone 7 was so shot that everything feels amazing with the phone. The battery is 100 x better, it's faster. I don't have last year's phone to compare it to so everything feels like this huge upgrade to me.
