Someone else in Hollywood hired him? I thought he was done.

Despite his bad interview, he was hired to be the lead of a TV series, which means he's got some star power, so it'd be unlikely that he would be banished forever.

The comments section is more interesting. And, yes, it was dumb of ABC’s “The Good Doctor” to kill off Nicholas Gonzalez’s Dr. Neil Melendez. The series probably parted with Gonzalez to “take it in another direction,” which is code for figuring it can get rid of a strong character, which is not in Top Tier (as are series lead Freddie Highmore’s Dr. Shawn Murphy, Richard Schiff’s Dr. Aaron Glassman, and Antonia Thomas’s Dr. Claire Browne), trade in his salary for lower-cost newbies. Oh, and what drama—just when we thought Neil and Claire would find their way to each other! It was bullshit. And it would not surprise me if “The Good Doctor” heads in a downward trend suggesting the series is not going to be around for 8 or 9 or 10 seasons but no more than 6. (It is about to enter its fourth season.)

Agree, r25. Adding a young cast member (26) seems to presage a coming "professional antagonism with Dr. Murphy" (Freddie is 28).

Have loved this show since the beginning! It’s not as compelling this season, but we still watch. This particular actor in OPs post is not appealing to me. Something really bothers me about this actor. I even asked my partner if it was born a woman!
