Central Casting-the shithole of Hollywood

Anthony Anderson is obviously the one referred to in this. I hope Disney kills off his Black-ish character.

I don't want to seem insensitive, but complaining about being overworked? Isn't that what most unknown actors dream of?

by Anonymousreply 1October 10, 2020 12:13 AM

Why hasn't that person been cancelled?

Anthony Anderson is a complete douche on set and will yell at the stand-ins for not knowing the lines during rehearsal.

His nephew is a PA on the show and is a nightmare mini-me version of his uncle. Attitude from beginning to end, as if he himself is the lead actor on the show.

by Anonymousreply 3October 10, 2020 12:30 AM

I like Blackish and I like Anthony. As mercenary as women have become makes me looks askance at some of these claims of sexual harassment/assault. Way more stories of women lying than actual provable incidents .

by Anonymousreply 4October 10, 2020 12:32 AM

Good God, their management is as ugly as their office building.

by Anonymousreply 5October 10, 2020 12:37 AM

I guess they never saw Jerry Maguire. Your manifesto has to be anonymous...

by Anonymousreply 6October 10, 2020 12:59 AM

I did not know Central Casting was a real thing until this moment. I thought it was an alias for all Hollywood casting, the KLondike 5- of casting agencies, as it were.

Tell us about it!

"I don't want to seem insensitive, but complaining about being overworked? Isn't that what most unknown actors dream of?"

Oh, honey. You're not insensitive. You just can't read very well. Actors aren't complaining about being overworked. It's the staff at the casting company.

It's nice to know that people are still able to confidently discuss something they know nothing about. God bless President Trump and his covid monologues.

Speaking of nonsensical Trump monologues, God bless r4 for pretending #metoo never happened and reaffirming the Kavanaugh is the kind of American that deserves to be on the Supreme Court.

Those mercenary women! 79 cents to every dollar a man makes is more than enough!

by Anonymousreply 9October 10, 2020 1:45 AM

Come on, you have to admit this was just stone cold ridiculously stupid:

"Three former employees said their depression worsened during their time at Central Casting due to work-related stress. One of them said they were reprimanded by a senior executive after taking two consecutive days off for their mental health."

Lie. Say you are physically sick. An adult really can't think the world revolves around them in this fashion, right? This poor creature will starve in the street.

by Anonymousreply 10October 10, 2020 2:01 AM

Anderson is okay on "To Tell the Truth," but I wish they would shit-can his mother. Dolores is grating and adds nothing to the show.

by Anonymousreply 11October 10, 2020 9:25 AM

OP, you read that whole article and that's all you got out of it? No wonder discrimination continues unrestrained in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 12October 10, 2020 9:31 AM

OK, I hate Anthony Anderson and want him cancelled, so sue me for discrimination against douches.

by Anonymousreply 13October 10, 2020 1:33 PM

“If your lighting team isn’t good enough to light the whole spectrum of human color, your lighting team needs to be better,” the employee said.

I don't know if that's a direct quote taken from an email or text from the employee to the writer of the article, or if it's the writer's fault. Either way - Oh dear!

by Anonymousreply 14October 10, 2020 2:25 PM

Forget my post at R14. I completely misread that. I just woke up.

by Anonymousreply 15October 10, 2020 2:26 PM

Casting directors don't decide what ethnicity they book. Specific description is directly from production.

by Anonymousreply 16October 10, 2020 4:43 PM

Not true, R16. They just get instruction from production when then want it to be a “diverse” group. Casting totally decides thr breakdown of ethnicities.

by Anonymousreply 17October 10, 2020 4:53 PM

R17 you are incorrect

by Anonymousreply 18October 10, 2020 4:55 PM

R17 you don't know anyone at central casting to write such ignorance

by Anonymousreply 19October 10, 2020 4:56 PM

From what I’m reading, I’m not getting how they’re any worse than any other major company.

by Anonymousreply 20October 10, 2020 5:01 PM

Maybe that's how productions book people in Bumfuck, Iowa, not in LA or New York R17

by Anonymousreply 21October 10, 2020 5:03 PM

Another bastion of political progressivism turns out to be a cesspit of racism and misogyny. Quelle suprise.

by Anonymousreply 22October 10, 2020 5:10 PM

HR really needs to be made into an external thing. With few exceptions, HR is all about protecting the company and NOT the employees.

by Anonymousreply 23October 10, 2020 5:18 PM

R18/R19, I work on the production end so I DO know what I’m talking about.

by Anonymousreply 24October 10, 2020 11:34 PM

R24 well then you're a fucking idiot

by Anonymousreply 25October 10, 2020 11:40 PM

Knows not what he posts R24

Endless douche bags work on the production end and have no clue about background casting

by Anonymousreply 26October 10, 2020 11:43 PM

Hey, douchebag/R26, I work directly with Central Casting, Comer Casting, Grant Wilfley Casting and Roman Candle Casting here in NYC so I have more than a clue. You and R25 can kindly mosey on over to the nearest grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 27October 11, 2020 2:41 PM

R27 okay you're right dumb shit. Productions just call Central Casting and say, "Give us a diverse group." Got it. You sure are in the inner circle of Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 28October 11, 2020 3:43 PM

R27 doesn't know shit

by Anonymousreply 29October 11, 2020 3:44 PM

R27 sad little nobody crying out for relevance

by Anonymousreply 30October 11, 2020 3:50 PM

[quote] I guess they never saw Jerry Maguire. Your manifesto has to be anonymous...

Tell me about it.

by Anonymousreply 31October 11, 2020 4:02 PM

Central Casting's Burbank phone number is 818-562-2700 and they are open 24/7.

Call and ask if they have the freedom to book any person of any ethnicity on any production.

by Anonymousreply 32October 11, 2020 4:09 PM

Whoa.... Wait a minute! Did anyone else know about these allegations agains Anthony Anderson? One allegation may be a misunderstanding. Two... probably not, but still possible. But THREE allegations of sexual misconduct against him? Why is ABC still employing him during these supposedly "woke" times?

From Wikipedia: Anderson was accused of raping a 25-year-old extra in a trailer on the film set of Hustle & Flow on July 27, 2004. The alleged victim accused Anderson and assistant director Wayne Witherspoon of forcibly removing her clothing, photographing her naked body, and digitally penetrating her. A witness claimed to have heard the alleged victim's screams and to have seen her run naked from the trailer, and she was treated at St. Francis Hospital. The charges were dropped on October 6, 2004 because the judge ruled that there was no probable cause to try the case. ... Anderson was sued for sexual assault in September 2004 by another woman who claimed that Anderson made sexually suggestive remarks and then assaulted her in his dressing room on the set of All About the Andersons... On July 20, 2018, it was revealed that he was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for another sexual assault allegation. On September 4, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office decided not to press charges against Anderson due to lack of evidence.

The entire town has been a cesspit of inappropriateness, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and sexual harassment, and all of it on steroids, from day one.

One of the only industries in modern times and in the modern work place that still gets away with treating 80% or more of its employees and contractors like total shit.

And it’s not just “micro-aggressions” or misunderstandings, or hostile work environments. The shit that goes on in this industry is the stuff of actual films or a series. And insane, crazy, over the top shit, too. Stuff that no person in their right mind would ever dream of getting away with in any other workplace or crap that no one with a shred of healthy self esteem would put up with. Just look at the Anthony Anderson story. This fucker has been getting away with some literal criminal shit forever. And that’s just one of thousands of stories that are available in that industry.

The real tragedy is that hundreds upon hundreds of genuinely talented, smart, hard working people flock to this shithole town year after year, pursuing careers in places that are ready to chew them up and spit them out like yesterday’s trash. All they end up with is a major mental health crisis, working for some of the biggest cunts and assholes known to any industry and measured against any standard, while stuck in overpriced boxes they call apartments, paying rents out the wazoo for what??? Their cunt boss screaming at them for the 8th time that week? And with zero recourse or remedial actions?

I love a great film, and a well done series just as much as anyone else, but the except for very few, and I mean just a FEW, the entertainer industry is a HORRIBLE fucking industry.

I wouldn’t let my dog anywhere near it, much less recommend to my worse enemy. Just a totally uncontrolled, unaccountable environment, running rife with WAY too many awful people, concentrated all in one place, with one jerk or another asshole everywhere you turn, and all you’re doing is just trying to catch a break and make a living.

For every big monster like Harvey, there’s a dozen little ones who are nobodies in the grand scheme of things, but just powerful enough to fuck up your day, your week, or your whole career.

What’s gonna change because of this write up?

Not much to nothing. Ask Anthony, he’ll tell ya.

by Anonymousreply 34November 10, 2020 11:56 PM

I used to be a regular "black-ish" viewer, but once they hired Chris Brown as a guest star a few seasons back, I bailed permanently. There's no excuse for anyone to be associating with that monster.
