He was always up for it. And he was good looking, if not financially successful. it wasn't like Chrissy or Janet or Cindy or Terri were finding anyone any better--they were always on the market for jen.
Why didn't any of his female roommates ever fuck Jack Tripper?
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 16, 2020 5:10 AM |
Because in a typically confusing 'TC' scenario, Mr. Furley thought he saw Jack on Grindr. So he told the girls that Jack was a fag, while in the process outing himself. Turns out it wasn't Jack on Grindr at all...it was bisexual Larry using a pic of Jack's hairy torso to pull a prank on his super-straight friend. Larry was very vers, BTW. And Mr. Furley was a total power bottom.

Jack’s gay doe.

Three's Company has more unanswered questions than The Golden Girls.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 1, 2020 7:07 AM |
Jack was in cooking school at first for like 5 seasons so he really needed roommates. Then when he started working ft for Mr Angelino he would have earned shit money. Janet the florist? Another min wage earner. Of the three originals Chrissy would have nade the most money working as a secretary.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 8, 2020 4:27 AM |
Because they all had the sexual maturity of 11-year olds. It was all snickering and innuendo and (in the case of Janet and Mr. Roper) “eww, sex is icky!” Plus John Ritter had the sex appeal of a rutabaga.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to live in Venice CA? A typical 2 bedroom is 3,500 - 4000 a month. Yes, it was a lot cheaper in the 70's but the salaries were a lot lower then too. And Venice is and was kind of trashy compared to Santa Monica.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 8, 2020 6:22 AM |
I'd imagine once Chrissy heard Jack say he was gay to Mr. Roper she'd have written him off as a possible lay and assumed he was just going out with women to shop or get pedicures.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 8, 2020 6:26 AM |
Because it was a '70s sitcom and a different reality abided. In this reality, women really didn't like sex and people in their thirties were still referred to as "the kids."
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 8, 2020 9:29 AM |
Jack and Larry were both such horn dogs, I don’t think it’s so impossible to fathom that they were secretly friends with benefits.

Because Jack was really into Larry.... quite deeply

R29 Larry would totally be considered a date rapist today, can you even imagine? It’s kind of funny to think about. But I was always a Larry fan — another reason I prefer the middle/later seasons.

When the show began in 1977, John Ritter was 29, Joyce DeWitt was 28, and Suzanne Somers was 31. For most of the show's run, "the kids" were in their thirties.

Maybe they were devout Christians who were saving themselves for marriage.
I mean, this is America, the most religious of first-world countries.
And tv aims for the lowest common denominator, many of whom are the religious nuts.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 10, 2020 1:03 PM |
I want a last episode denouement where Jack actually comes out as gay!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 10, 2020 1:26 PM |
R40 they never looked like “kids,” tbh. It wasn’t as bad as Laverne and Shirley, where at least Penny Marshall looked 40 (and I think actually was towards the end of the show), but they always looked to be around 30, even when the show started.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 10, 2020 3:12 PM |
They may have fingered themselves so viciously that they squelched their libidos. Their sex drives were never in synch when Jack would have been willing to slide his engorged mushroom-headed cock into their willing pussies. Maybe?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 10, 2020 3:18 PM |
Why was it so well known that John Ritter was gay? He was first celeb that I knew was gay. Ruined the show for me. Sommers gay as well.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 10, 2020 11:33 PM |
All three actors were in their 30's at the time, trying to impersonate struggling 20-somethings. They probably said, "Where do I sign?" when offered the roles, no doubt at a rock-bottom wage from the notoriously stingy producers.

[quote] During the brief time Cindy was the blonde roommate, having someone who was really in her early 20s made Ritter and DeWitt look nothing like "kids".
Did Cindy look that different? They all looked the same age to me. Why was Cindy so quickly fired?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 11, 2020 2:07 AM |
R53, I don't know if it was the primary reason but I do recall hearing at the time that the producers wanted a new roommate who had no ties to the Chrissy character (Cindy was her cousin).
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 11, 2020 2:11 AM |
Why did they make her her cousin then? They could have just introduced Cindy as a random girl.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 11, 2020 3:20 AM |
R55 Didn't they have her making phone calls to Chrissy, though? I think that's how they got Suzanne Somers to still appear in the show while she was still under contract.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 16, 2020 4:20 AM |
R55 they were still hoping they could work something out with Suzanne. But once they cut her off in the Spring, they didn’t want any further tires with her or the character. Heck I’m surprised they even allowed her to be featured in the Lucille Ball retrospective.
It also just made sense for the trajectory of the show to bring in a more “mature” roommate with an actual career and some brains. But speaking of mature, according to her bio, Priscilla Barnes was born in Dec 1954 — no way was she 26 when she started on that show.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 16, 2020 5:01 AM |
R56, as I recall, I think it was usually Janet who talked to Chrissy on the phone, not Cindy.

[quote]R47 Why was it so well known that John Ritter was gay? He was first celeb that I knew was gay. Ruined the show for me. Sommers gay as well.
I’ve never heard he was gay - his personality seems TOO BORING to be.
There were 3 books of confessions by L.A. call girls called “You’ll Never Make Love in this Town Again.” Some of the names are changed, but John Ritter pops up as a client and supposedly he was very athletic and enthusiastic in bed.
If he was gay, maybe he paid the authors to include him.
One of the call girls was Robin Greer, a cast member of Falcon Crest. She dated Fernando Lamas, who wooed her for months and talked about marriage, then dumped her after she gave in and slept with him. Then she was written off the show. Actually, I don’t think she admits to being a prostitute - I think she’s included to show how close one can come to that choice when you’re an out of work starlet.

It's funny looking back, if you didn't live through that era you would not know at the time, 3 unmarried heteros sharing an apartment was considered scandalous.
