Chrissy Teigen has miscarriage, tweets selfie

I knew it was probably bleak when she was tweeting about hand sized blood clots and receiving donor blood. I feel awful for her and John but I hope she takes a break from social media. People can be awful in comments, especially since you have dumbasses conspiracy theorists in the comments

by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 1, 2020 5:53 AM |
R31, this was a further along pregnancy, not an early miscarriage. She had to go through labor and deliver the dead baby. She was shown getting an epidural for labor in one of the photos she posted.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 1, 2020 5:53 AM |
Surely you didn't think she would go thru all this and not get the social media credit for it. It didn't happen unless she has it documented for twitter.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 1, 2020 5:59 AM |
I think there are people out there who are genuinely unable to distinguish between social media and real life anymore. If it's not on SM, it's not real, it didn't happen. I don't mean that in a snarky way either, I mean it 100% seriously.
Imagine visiting someone at their house in the 90s and them immediately pulling out a photo album of them sobbing in the moments after being told their baby had died in the womb. Imagine how odd that would have been. And then they show you the whole album of photos taken during the hospital visit.
I'm sorry they lost their baby but I don't think her relationship with SM is healthy in any way.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 1, 2020 6:02 AM |
Miscarriage attention getting is the newest online fad. Dawson van der loads wife and the Baldwin woman were pioneers in this trend. Soon every defunct fetus will have it's own Instagram page complete with dozens of photos. The truth is that it's a common part of life for child bearing women and not particularly sad if one already has other children. Fetus worship is outta control in this country.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 1, 2020 6:06 AM |
Looking at the stillbirth photographers' sites in the US, they seem to be affiliated with doulas and energy-healer types so odds are good that a standard mug-cradler shows up with oat-milk cortados and palo santo for all and takes the pictures.
In other countries it's more of a standalone service where they're always in search of volunteer photographers, thereby making it more likely that one gets Olde Uncle Creeper who's getting off on the whole situation.
It's just one of the drawbacks of living for Instagram likes.

by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 1, 2020 6:34 AM |
I think the baby was due in 4 months or so. I feel awful for her.
At the same time, I think it’s strange that it’s almost a reflex for people to capture and share their grief in real time. I don’t think that’s healthy and I already see she’s getting snarky comments on social media. I always thought celebrities like Rachel McAdams had it right... you never know if she’s pregnant until you see a blurry pap pic and nobody knows the kids name or gender. But at the same time, Chrissy’s “brand” so to speak has always been oversharing.
The whole thing reminds me of this Family Guy clip.

On one hand, it's a good thing to break the taboos around a topic that people hush-hush about (miscarriages) so people don't feel so alone and isolated. On the other hand, she's an attention whore, darlin'.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 1, 2020 7:50 AM |
She said that she was sorry his first few moments were met with complications.
I suspect that he was born at the edge of viability, and doctors attempted to save his life. They likely were forced to induce labor because the bleeding couldn't be controlled, so the baby was still alive during labor and delivery.
I understand the importance of breaking taboos. I also get the sense that she over shares in general, which is concerning.
R36, miscarriages and stillbirths are a common part of childbearing, but that does not mean they are not painful experiences. My mother lost several pregnancies in the second trimester, and she still carries heartache for those losses all these years later.
Part of her pain comes from how terribly it was handled back then. Being told not to cry, you have other children at home, etc.
I've seen my sister and friends go through these losses, and they are painful regardless of whether they have surviving children or not. Women tend to bond with the fetus.
I feel for her and the husband, as much as I would feel for any stranger under the circumstances. I don't like the trend of using your children to sell your family brand, but I don't wish them harm. I wish then some common sense and decency in not selling out their children's privacy in exchange for money and back pats.

Chrissy did not have a miscarriage. She gave birth to a stillborn baby.
Miscarriage = loss before 24 weeks.
Stillbirth = loss after 24 weeks.
After 24 weeks, the baby is considered viable.

I think it's disingenuous to condemn members of the general public as being heartless and cruel if they question just how necessary and authentic it is to tweet an artfully composed photograph of yourself in the midst of grief, when the person tweeting the photo is known almost exclusively for their social media content.
Yes, she's got a lot of people who come after her for no good reason, QAnoners mostly, but there are also normal, good, everyday people who don't trust what she did. It's difficult for people to differentiate between cynical social media content and a genuine need to use social media to process personal grief.
She's in a unique position where Twitter and IG are almost completely saturated with her content. I mute her account, fan accounts, her name, I follow maybe 200 people total, and I still get 2-5 posts about her a day coming across my timeline, all from people who think it's their personal job to give her the attention she needs and defend her from the online bullies. It's exhausting. I can't be the only one exhausted by her.
As much as I feel badly for her, I also understand the people who are over it, and just want her to stop, please, for the love of god, handle this yourself and stop demanding emotional support from literally millions of strangers who have their own lives and problems that you don't give one shit about.
They shouldn't be tweeting at her but I can't help but relate to them a little bit.

Bingo.
One can be compassionate and feel badly for losses in life.

R59 as I understand it, the family is allowed to keep the remains if they wish. Believe it or not, it's actually a "thing" amongst wacko Fundie families to take home a miscarried/stillborn fetus, dress it up and have a funeral for it. Don't look up pics unless you have a strong stomach.
That reminds me, one time on Reddit there was a thread about deep dark secrets people are keeping from their families, and someone shared a story about his family burying his stillborn sibling in the backyard and later he saw the dog eating it. She’s a celebrity who actively sought her fame, so her openness about her life, while not for everyone, should not be a surprise. I do think for women, miscarriage can feel like a very lonely experience, and this may help someone out there as much as it helps Chrissy.

They don’t just give it to you to take home as a souvenir. Usually you can take some pictures if you want, and then many people make arrangements with a funeral home for a cremation or even a burial. The hospital will dispose of it if the family doesn’t want to do any of that.

The whole pregnancy was suspect. She gets canceled from Twitter and people start digging up awful hateful shit she said. Some bazaar rumor about her being on Epstein's flight records get fabricated. She deleted millions of tweets. Then, just mere weeks later after stating publicly time and again she had trouble conceiving, she announces a pregnancy. Clearly, she was really pregnant, but I wouldn't put it past her to carry a child knowing she was going to miscarry so she could use it for sympathy. She's fucking pathological.

by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 1, 2020 2:43 PM |
From what I have pieced together, it sounds as though Teigen suffered placenta praevia, a condition marked by the placenta attaching near the cervix. It can lead to severe bleeding and life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Delivery is the treatment, sometimes via vaginal delivery or more commonly via C section. Untreated, it can lead to death of mother and baby.
This is a medical emergency that for women in less developed countries can lead to death, due to lack of blood for transfusion. Sadly, when I was volunteering in Africa, I had a patient die of this due to lack of ability to transfuse; the baby died as well. It was a rather horrific and tragic experience.
She did not give birth to a clump of cells; at 24 weeks the baby can be viable and looks like a formed baby, albeit a very small one.
It is a common practice to allow parents to hold their stillborn baby to say goodbye. As I said above, the baby is fully formed, just very tiny.

Having worked previously as a RN at both ICN and PICU, I think this sort of behavior reeks of insincerity. We now need public oversharing of documenting private matters of health, death, and grieving, or else it didn't happen or wasn't significant? It's the work of an attention whore who can't stop herself.
People who experience profound grief do not think to first reach for the cameras, nor do they film themselves acting out victim or grief porn fantasies. Only bitches who are empty emotionally, or who are narcissistic do shit like this. Grief is the eyes of a mother watching her 6-year-old daughter with terminal cancer help plan her own funeral with the help of nurses and counselor at the hospital room. Grief is parents swallowing lumps in their throats as they clap for their dying, 15-year-old daughter as she performs hula dance using her hands, one of the only parts of her body not paralyzed from terminal brain cancer. Do you think these unfortunate souls' parents rushed to produce artful photos as record of their grief? No. Only a shallow narcissist would think of doing that.
Sorry for Teigen's loss but at the same time repulsed by her performative grief aimed at public consumption and praise. Two things can exist independently of each other and this is one of those cases.

This is something wannabe celebrities do.
People who are famous for what they do for a living, results they produce, talents they possess, etc., are seen by wannabes as having arrived.
This myth of arrival is like a cancer among us.
Individuals putting themselves together from the outside in - the most effectively accurate application of the cliche “you complete me”.
These wannabes aren’t caught by paparazzi - they are their OWN paparazzi: activating the timer on their camera and then hustling into place to be captured unawares in their own photo shoot.
The most extreme example of these broken, needy, greedy, perpetually unbecoming individuals is presently occupying the Oval Office.

I don't think anyone's mentioned, they put a filter over the photo to boot (smoky?), which makes it extra tacky.
I'm sorry, I'm sure she's truly in grief, but I also think there was a degree of cynicism to this whole thing - rebranding her image after her numerous edgy pedo jokes on twitter were pointed out by a comedienne, that spat really shook her, soon after she'd wiped her account. I think it was both cynicism that she probably can't admit to herself, and a genuine search for comfort through an online addiction, that led to this photo-shoot.

R102 - don't feel bad. She's a disingenuous fame whore.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | October 3, 2020 9:29 PM |
I’m sure there is a medical difference for a stillbirth and a miscarriage, when the baby is still birthed through the vaginal canal? It sounds like this little chap was alive until fairly recently when nature took its course. From the size of the little bundle, it looks like he almost could have made it to premie status, RIP little one.

Does this mean she's pulling the placenta recipe from her next cook book?
by Anonymous | reply 108 | October 4, 2020 12:44 AM |
My cousin was a twin, but her sister died along the way. My poor aunt had to continue with the pregnancy for the health of the still living baby. So she birthed one living and one dead child. They buried the twin in a cemetery with a headstone, not so much for them, but they thought it would be important to the surviving baby to go and have a place to visit when she grew up. There are so many types of loss, I try not to criticize how people choose to mourn. But I guess I’m old school and think it should be done in private.

I just lost what little respect I had for John Legend....shame, shame, shame

Chrissy Teigen is the only reason John Legend is still famous.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | October 6, 2020 9:05 PM |
R113 Absolutely. FWIW John is very very talented and I think he’s underrated, but his album sales are not good. He and Chrissy have this “brand” of being relatable “couple goals” and I’m willing to bet that’s what brings in the money. Does it make me cringe to see him doing Pampers commercials and a cheesy cringe fest of a Christmas Special on NBC with his wife? Yes. But I don’t think he’s bothered. They are having a “moment” and making the best of it

Nobody can even name a John Legend song.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | October 6, 2020 11:56 PM |
I can't r115. He's been around for years and I can't think of one song of his. And I'm around his age, too.

Was Chrissy Teigen really ever a "model", or did she just make that up?
by Anonymous | reply 117 | October 7, 2020 12:02 AM |
Chrissy Teigen looks like an extraterrestrial wearing a human disguise, but still not looking quite human.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 7, 2020 12:06 AM |
She was a briefcase model with Meghan Markle on whatever show that was, and she was in two issues of Sports Illustrated. I think that about covers her modelling 'career'.

Another Frau.
John Stephens has 11 Grammys and 31 nominations, and few people can even name a song. Textbook example of being overrated.

Just means he's a one hit wonder. Vanilla Ice, Kajagoogoo, and Right Said Fred had similar results.
A single Top-20 hit after 16 years of glowing press is rather pathetic.

This. Does John Legend makes most of his money producing and collaborating for other artists?
by Anonymous | reply 135 | October 7, 2020 4:00 AM |
R135 John has only produced 11 songs, 4 being his own. But he collaborated with a lot of rappers like Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg to name a few. I believe he also has a collab album with Roots.
He’s on The Voice so I’m sure that brings in good money. He’s also in a shit ton of commercials, like Life Wtr, Pampers, Hulu, and the Genesis Super Bowl commercial he did with Chrissy

Chrissy is HUGE with the Fraus.
Most likely because she's not skinny or attractive enough to be threatening, yet still lives their idea of "the good life" (supported by husband with a day-to-day life consisting mostly of wine, social media, and changing shitty diapers).
by Anonymous | reply 140 | October 7, 2020 2:24 PM |

There are more than 3 million US miscarriages per year, between 10-20 percent of pregnancies end in a miscarriage. It is sad but this is all over everywhere, NBC Nightly News carried the story on their evening news and it certainly wasn't a slow news day. It is very sad for any individual couple or single mother but they are making too big of a deal about it.

Ellen was already very famous with Middle Americans when she started her talk show. Chrissy Teigen is mainly a social media celebrity, so the older people in Bumfucke don't really know her.

John Legend emotionally dedicates his new song, “Never Break”, to Chrissy at the BBMA’s the other night
by Anonymous | reply 159 | October 16, 2020 2:38 AM |
He also tweeted a long, sweet message to Chrissy:
“This is for Chrissy. I love and cherish you and our family so much. We’ve experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together. Watching you carry our children has been so moving and humbling. I’m in awe of the strength you’ve shown through the most challenging moments. What an awesome gift it is to be able to bring life into the world. We’ve experienced the miracle, the power and joy of this gift, and now we’ve deeply felt its inherent fragility.
I wrote this song because I have faith that as long as we walk this earth, we will hold each other’s hands through every tear, through every up and down, through every test. We promised each other this on our wedding day seven years ago, and every challenge we’ve faced has made that promise more powerful, more resilient. Our love will remain. We will never break.
Thank you to everyone who has been sending us prayers and well wishes, flowers, cards, words of comfort and empathy. We feel and appreciate your love and support more than you know. More than anything, we’ve heard so many stories about how so many other families have experienced this pain, often suffering in silence. It’s a club no one wants to be a part of, but it’s comforting to know we’re not alone.
I’m sure Chrissy will have much more to say about this when she’s ready. But just know we’re grateful and we’re sending love to all of you and your families.“
