Brazil is half white and half black with a large mixed population and a sizable Asian minority and a tiny Indigenous population. Brazilians have Polish, German and Irish ancestry. Many Colombians and Peruvians are Mestizos or many Colombians are black. Mexico does have a white population, you can turn on Mexican TV and see only whites on it. Mexico has a population that descended from the Spanish but there are also Polish, Irish and German descended Mexicans and they get hired on Mexican TV or hired to model in Mexican magazines.

Also the Caribbean is mostly black but there are pure white populations in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. Also there are Indian and East Asian populations in the Caribbean too. Jamaicans are mostly Black but many have some white and Asian ancestry. Dominicans are a mix of black and white. Puerto Ricans are mostly white with a lot of black and some Taino. The Caribbean Indigenous population was wiped out massively very early on except for Puerto Rico. So most Caribbeans are not Mestizo but are mostly a mix of black and white but some can be tri-racial (black, white and Asian/Indian or black, white and Taino).

Haiti and Jamaica had a lot of slave revolts which was helped by having a very large black population and free black population as well. Haiti actually had a Revolution led by both black and mixed race Haitians who overthrew the French colonial government and kicked out majority of the white population. The white Haitians fled to Louisiana and made up a large proportion of the white Creole population.

in cuba, genetic studies have shown that people who consider themselves whites, have a minimun of 85% european genes. you can not ask somebody that has phenotype and more than 85% european genes to consider themselve black or even mestizo. yes in latin america and cuba there were also racial prejudices and races were separated and never really mingled that much in certain parts of cuba, brazil etc.

you can not tell a hispanic who is more than 85% european, and who looks white to feel "latino" just because there are people with more than 85% native or black genes who do not pass as whites and are considered latinos by anglos. that is not going to happen.

when I worked for a police department as a clerk we had to classify latinos as white or hispanic/latino. we were not looking for how much european dna they had, but only whether they look white or mestizo/ mulato,or native.

Most people with a decent education know that Hispanic is not a race or even an ethnicity. It just refers to people who speak Spanish. Just like Latino refers to people who speak a Romance language. People who are even smarter now that the term Hispanic was created in the 1970s to refer to growing Mexican-American population who spoke Spanish. White Latinos are like White Southerners. They may have some Indigenous or some black ancestry but they look white enough that it is inconsequential. Race is a social construct with a lot of it based completely around your outside phenotype hence white-passing. And unlike The US which in the near past, you were discovered you to have black ancestry people would treat you differently. In Latin America, you can tell everyone you have Indigenous or black ancestry but if you still look white nobody would care and still treat you better as you are still white.

as I said before, genetic studies have shown that the frecuency of european genes in cuba is above 85% percent, and in miami above 90% and that doesnt take into account that cubans with north african dna comes from southern europeans. so the european gene contribution is actually above 85 and 90 if you add the north african admixture.
