Aged 78.
[Quote] “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th 2020 in Los Angeles,” her children Traci Donat and Jordan Sommers said in a statement. “She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”

OP is worse than Maria Avedici Santoya.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 30, 2020 3:40 AM |
Reddy or not?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 30, 2020 3:43 AM |
Great voice, very unique and instantly identifiable when you heard it. Unique vocal phrasing. Another 70s icon gone.

Can we finally count on Susan Dey to comment?

When are the drooling morons like r2 going to figure out that search hasn't worked on DL for months?
Or are they unable to contribute anything but post the same handful of 15-year-old memes over and over?

[quote] When are the drooling morons like [R2] going to figure out that search hasn't worked on DL for months?
It's working now.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 30, 2020 3:47 AM |
It's not for me, I only get a thread about Reddy being diagnosed with dementia when I search. I'll try another browser.

[quote] When are the drooling morons like [[R2]] going to figure out that search hasn't worked on DL for months?
When are drooling morons going to try the search function instead screaming "the search function doesn't work." Try it and you'll see three threads on this topic.
[quote] It's working now.
Thank you R9. You very calmly handed R8 his ass on a plate.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 30, 2020 3:54 AM |
Here's the original thread. I got it by searching for "Reddy" in the DL search function.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 30, 2020 3:55 AM |
Passed away? DL doesn't go for booze or dope. OR passed away.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 30, 2020 3:58 AM |
Oh no. Sad. “Summer of ‘71” was a great song about psychedelic drug use.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 30, 2020 3:59 AM |
She was famous in Australia as far back as the 1960s.

R8, take note of R13. I don't want to be a Pesky Patty, but I would like an apology.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 30, 2020 4:00 AM |
I like her version of "Let's Go Up" better than The Boss, Miss Ross.'
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 30, 2020 4:01 AM |
Search works on Chrome but not Opera.
It's cute that r2 was being a cunt on purpose but now wants an apology because someone was a cunt to him. C'est la guerre, R2.
Seriously, though, the other threads didn't use "dead to me" and one didn't even use her name in the subject line so they're going to get overlooked. That's why you should actually LINK to the original thread instead of just spouting off with some catchphrase you learned back in 2003.

[quote] Seriously, though, the other threads...didn't even use her name in the subject line
The original thread, of which I'm not the OP, is titled "Helen Reddy has PASSED AWAY". Helen Reddy was her name.

[quote] Search works on Chrome but not Opera.
It works for me on both.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 30, 2020 4:07 AM |
Who knew you needed Helen and Jane as a duo in your life?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 30, 2020 4:09 AM |
Did she disappear into the radio?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 30, 2020 4:12 AM |
Helen exorcises Linda Blair. Or something.

R19, Not to be a Call-Out Cathy but you sound incredibly hostile for a thread about Helen Reddy's death.
Im sure you're a decent human on some level but chill the fuck out.

We are DL.

I can only imagine the fighting over original threads at L Chat.

She can't really have been demented if they were allowing her to perform at rallies.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 30, 2020 4:26 AM |
Move over Miss Lawson. Helen takes Broad Way!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 30, 2020 4:27 AM |
I'm r8, I'm legitimately having trouble with my browser (it says OP posted this 258 hours ago) so that's probably why search isn't working for me, and the cranky guy needs a Midol.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 30, 2020 4:43 AM |

Isn't Jordan's surname Wald? How does that work? (citing R1)
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 30, 2020 5:58 AM |
What's this obsessing with threads. Let's get back to Miss Reddy.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 30, 2020 9:25 AM |
Still dead?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 30, 2020 1:09 PM |
I really don't care for "I Am Woman."
Especially after the second Sex and the City film.

She suggested Hillary should have run in 2008 with Obama as her VP.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 30, 2020 2:48 PM |
She said "Material Girl" was a step backwards for women, and for that I wall always respect her.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 30, 2020 3:01 PM |
I guess she didn't understand the lyric. "Material Girl" is about turning the tables (I'm rich and now they're after me).
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 30, 2020 3:03 PM |
She also turned down "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue" because her eyes weren't brown.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 30, 2020 3:06 PM |
R44, we all just laughed and they played records.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | September 30, 2020 3:15 PM |
At least she avoided all the plastic surgery and allowed herself to age gracefully.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | September 30, 2020 4:06 PM |
She doesn't sound demented here either, from 2017.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 30, 2020 4:12 PM |

Her daughter Traci is married to Lucas Donat, son of Waltons actress Michael Learned. If that isn't a 70s celebrity offspring pairing I don't know what is. Lucas is also great-nephew of British actor Robert Donat, who won the Oscar in 1939 for Goodbye Mr. Chips, beating out Clark Gable for Gone With The Wind as well as Laurence Olivier.
