Trump said Jews are 'only in it for themselves' and 'stick together,' according to a new report

President Donald Trump reportedly suggested that Jews have a loyalty to their religion above other interests, repeating an accusation that has long been used to stoke anti-Semitism.

Jews "are only in it for themselves" and "stick together," Trump said in front of officials in his administration, according to a new report from The Washington Post on Wednesday.

More than two dozen current and former Trump administration officials spoke with The Post about the president's views on race and described racist remarks they said he has made while in office.

The president's characterizations of Jews occurred after he got off the phone with Jewish lawmakers, the officials said.

He’s a fucking Nazi. What do you expect?

Steve Bannon is a white supremacist. Bannon hired Milo Yiannopoulos who records show used Kristallnacht as an email password at Breitbart while he courted white supremacist and Nazi leaders on behalf of Breitbart at Bannon’s direction in an effort to get Trump elected.

Sebastian Gorka is an actual Nazi who Trump hired.

Richard Spencer is a Nazi who led Nazi rallies in Trump’s name and said Trump would bring on a race war.

Yiannopoulos was taped singing ‘America the Beautiful’ karaoke to Spencer and other Nazis as they gave Nazi salutes and laughed. The video is on YouTube.

Antisemitic crimes reached an all-time high in the US in 2019.

Are you surprised that Trump hates Jewish people?

Quelle surprise!

by Anonymousreply 2September 27, 2020 11:34 AM

But he loves Israel!!

by Anonymousreply 3September 27, 2020 11:35 AM

Well, the same can be said for any group, so he’s not wrong.

by Anonymousreply 4September 27, 2020 11:39 AM

Are all republicans really racist? How can anyone with a conscience support this government?

by Anonymousreply 5September 27, 2020 11:43 AM

And yet over 40% of Americans love this guy.

by Anonymousreply 6September 27, 2020 11:50 AM

No different to what you'll read on those self-proclaimed "progressive", "liberal" sites, including DL.

by Anonymousreply 7September 27, 2020 11:54 AM

Nothing will ever Trump what happened to African Americans right here in America, and continueto. That holocaust of slavery and jim crow and everything since lasted centuries.

R7 So yes you're right, life in bigoted America is right on point.

This place really is bigoted.

by Anonymousreply 8September 27, 2020 12:00 PM

R8 makes me think Matt is using sockpuppets to agree with himself.

by Anonymousreply 9September 27, 2020 12:01 PM

[Quote] And yet over 40% of Americans love this guy.

The same amount hates Jews

by Anonymousreply 10September 27, 2020 12:02 PM

I wonder what the Trump-loving Hassids think

by Anonymousreply 11September 27, 2020 12:02 PM

I wonder if Jared was in the room?

by Anonymousreply 12September 27, 2020 12:03 PM

Just like the Evangelicals , the Orthodox Jews know Trump is an absolute idiot— but they will use him to get what they want.

They want complete subservience to Israel, including the American Embassy moved to Jerusalem, the Palestinians’ aid cut and out getting out of the Iran peace deal.

And that’s what Trump gave them.

by Anonymousreply 13September 27, 2020 12:05 PM

And R13 unashamedly steps right up to prove the point.

by Anonymousreply 14September 27, 2020 12:08 PM

Well...

by Anonymousreply 15September 27, 2020 12:22 PM

R14 - Nailed it. I doubt, however, the irony escapes anyone dense enough to have posted a screed like R13's.

by Anonymousreply 16September 27, 2020 12:54 PM

R13 is completely right and someone doesn't like it...

by Anonymousreply 17September 27, 2020 1:46 PM

Sorry, I hate Trump, but everyone thinks this. He's not the first person to say it.

by Anonymousreply 18September 27, 2020 2:02 PM

Mormons do the same.

by Anonymousreply 19September 27, 2020 2:06 PM

Republicans do the same.

by Anonymousreply 20September 27, 2020 2:08 PM

R18 Um no he is not the first to say it; this is the basic foundation of antisemitism broadly. By saying it, he is promoting antisemitism and telling antisemitic Nazis that he is their leader and working in their interests.

by Anonymousreply 21September 27, 2020 2:23 PM

why should he like Jews? he doesn’t like Blax or Latinx

by Anonymousreply 22September 27, 2020 2:41 PM

He's a worthless sack of shit, but he isn't wrong, in this instance.

by Anonymousreply 23September 27, 2020 3:35 PM

Well, comments like R23 prove that hatred toward a group of different people will always be a reliable way to unite the majority!

Now begins the countdown until R23 laments Trump and his cronies directing their hatred toward his subclass of people.

by Anonymousreply 24September 27, 2020 3:52 PM

Put me in an oven, Daddy!

by Anonymousreply 25September 27, 2020 3:54 PM

It's all in how you say it. Saying that members of a group are a proud people is OK but phrasing it like that comes off as insensitive.

by Anonymousreply 26September 27, 2020 3:58 PM

Being a holocaust denier, not recognizing Jews as a legitimate people, or saying that they are the ones who control the media are all more foundational to antisemitism.

by Anonymousreply 27September 27, 2020 4:00 PM

Does he say this to Ivanka's face?

by Anonymousreply 28September 27, 2020 4:01 PM

In other words, Jews are too smart to let Trump manipulate them, so he hates them.

by Anonymousreply 29September 27, 2020 4:02 PM

Yeah, he talks salty- but that economy!

by Anonymousreply 30September 27, 2020 4:03 PM

R28 Are you KIDDING? Ivanka is Donald. Ivanka is not Jared. She doesn’t give a single shit about Judaism or any religion, except whatever business deal advantages she can leverage through her husband’s business connections and Israel’s corrupt leadership. Do you honestly believe Ivanka Trump has any allegiance to the Jewish faith or to Jewish people? If so, what planet do you live on?

by Anonymousreply 31September 27, 2020 4:05 PM

R29 All sweeping generalizations are bound to be wrong much of the time, as this statement is. You certainly cannot claim with any merit that Jewish people as a whole are too smart to be manipulated by Trump. Steven Miller and Jared Kushner both drive a lot of Trump policies. Both are Jewish. Both are benefiting personally as anti-Jewish hate crimes have risen steadily in the US every year since Trump came into office. Richard Spencer and other Nazis are leveraging Trump to their advantage, he supports and enables them, and if you think that Spencer and other antisemites are small potatoes, you’re not considering the ripple effect. Since antisemitism has risen as a direct result of Trump’s leadership, his affiliations and his statements here in the US, antisemitic sentiment and Nazi groups throughout Europe have grown substantially. Trump is driving this, and a good number of the people at the very heart of this antisemitic administration are Jewish.

by Anonymousreply 32September 27, 2020 4:09 PM

It's not about religion. Trump wasn't saying "that Jews have a loyalty to their religion above other interests", as OP's quote suggests. He was apparently saying that (some) Jews to this day have an allegiance to their Jewish identity, and to those who share it, that supersedes their commitment to other values.

That is objectively true, and it applies equally to other groups and identities, especially those that have faced eons of discrimination like the Jews. Unfortunately, it's also fodder for antisemitism.

by Anonymousreply 33September 27, 2020 4:13 PM

R33 Donald Trump has a sole allegiance to himself and his name, which by extension includes his children and his businesses. He won’t give a single shit about the United States of America unless and until he rebrands it in his name. So his spiel about Jews only being in it for themselves is beyond hypocritical and anyone who suggests he has a point is being wildly manipulated by him.

by Anonymousreply 34September 27, 2020 4:26 PM

[quote] Sorry, I hate Trump, but everyone thinks this. He's not the first person to say it.

Perhaps you and every other idiot whom you know “thinks this”, but no “everyone” does not.

by Anonymousreply 35September 27, 2020 4:35 PM

[quote]Since antisemitism has risen as a direct result of Trump’s leadership,

Posted by someone who is completely ignorant about just how entrenched, widespread and acceptable anti-Jewish bigotry and hatred are in America. Jew hatred unites Left and Right, Repub and Dem, Black and White, Xtian and Muslim, Gay and Straight. Slurs and scree that would be condemned and rejected were another minority targeted receive head-nodding agreement when the target is Jews. You need look no further than this thread and scores like it for deplorable examples.

by Anonymousreply 36September 27, 2020 4:51 PM

Donald Trump is in it only for himself and by extension other corrupt mafia-adjacent swindlers and money launderers. So this is the pot calling the kettle black.

by Anonymousreply 37September 27, 2020 5:20 PM

Not sure about all that, but I do know for a fact that Jews who vote for Trump are the "Stupid Jews".

by Anonymousreply 38September 28, 2020 4:15 AM

R5 - “ Are all republicans really racist? How can anyone with a conscience support this government?”

After years of observation, my take is, not all Republicans are racist, but if you ARE a racist, you’re most likely a Republican.

by Anonymousreply 39September 28, 2020 4:57 AM

R36 but there needs to be someone to stoke those flames. Trump is that guy, sadly.

Also ironic because he exhibits all of the negative Jewish stereotypes more than just about any actual Jewish person out there. So really this is all a form of self-loathing.

by Anonymousreply 40September 28, 2020 5:05 AM

How DARE we look out for ourselves? Especially after we've been so well-treated throughout history, all over the world! It makes NO sense that we would be the least bit concerned with self-preservation. It's not like the world's been trying to wipe us off the planet for centuries or anything....

by Anonymousreply 41September 28, 2020 5:10 AM

Why is this the marker of how repulsive Trump truly is? So it's OK when he hates other groups far more blatantly, but it only "counts" with this if you can even call it hate when it comes off more as admiration coming from him since Trump is only in it for himself and all three of his first children married Jewish people. He has said far worse and more disgusting things about other groups. This is nonsense considering Kushner is his closest adviser along with Miller. He obviously trusts Jewish people to the point they're FAMILY, so why are we acting as though he called for the ovens?

by Anonymousreply 42September 28, 2020 5:38 AM

R42 I don’t think anyone is saying it’s “worse,” it’s just...another day, another tale of Trump bigotry.

But yes, considering he’s from Queens, has dealt largely with Jewish businessmen, real estate men and lawyers his whole life, that his daughter married an Ortho and converted, that he’s even been mistaken for Jewish himself, this bigotry is especially...interesting.

by Anonymousreply 43September 28, 2020 6:01 AM

Trump saying that “jews are only in it for themselves” is like a shark saying “those barracuda, they’re just in it to bite stuff.”

by Anonymousreply 44September 28, 2020 6:03 AM

The Israeli Americans (typically uneducated and living off America while not giving a real shit about it) love Trump. The men are typically loud and uneducated, the women materialistic and subservient. Like Don and Mel, their ridiculous role models.

by Anonymousreply 45September 28, 2020 6:57 AM

The Evangelicals want Israeli safe because that's where Jesus will soon come at End of Days. They don't care about the Jews. In fact, they believe Jesus will condemn the Jews to hell when he arrives.

The Jews know this very well and are playing along. They are milking all they can out of Trump.

by Anonymousreply 46September 29, 2020 9:04 PM

R42, Trump refused to properly denounce the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville.

His niece Mary Trump has also said that she's heard him say anti-Semitic slurs.

by Anonymousreply 47September 29, 2020 9:13 PM

Did any of you guys watch that Netflix documentary on the Hassids in Brooklyn?

Check it out. They support Trump 100%, as do many Jews who were and still consider themselves to be progress and liberal, which are antithetical to the values held by the Hassids.

Trump has exploited EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER DEFECT possible in Americans. It seems complex, but it isn’t.

It isn’t derangement, nor is it a cult. It’s a group of people that either want more money, their own interests served, or are not who you think they are and they pretend to be liberal, but are socially liberal for their own lives, yet are also racists, homophobic, or want certain tax benefits or financial deals to become accessible to them.

The stupid ones aren’t that stupid. They just hate everyone and everything and would have been picked off by any candidate with autocratic tendencies, while the really smart ones want more of whatever it is they think they will get for having him as POTUS.

No matter what you think, every single person who is STILL a full fledged Trump supporter, and who knows that voting for Trump is a real threat to democracy, is voting for him regardless, because they do not benefit from democracy, or because they don’t actually care about democracy, more than they care for whatever they think is more important than democracy.

This will be a hate vote, that they will be casting not because they hate Trump, but because they are either evil, and want to see this country come to an end, or because they actually believe they’re doing God’s will by voting for Trump, and will be saving unborn babies, and to them, they would rather unborn babies come into a country that is totally autocratic, than see them come into a real democracy.

Either way, the diehard Trumpers do NOT want a real democracy nor have they ever. They don’t understand what it is, or they do, and they believe autocratic rule would be best, because they believe that autocratic rule is closer to their God’s will”.

What they don’t understand is that Autocrats aren’t religious and only exploit the religion of the day, for the purposes of stripping them of their present, constitutional rights. They’re gonna understand this eventually, if Trump wins again, and they live to see what’s about to go down, when a POTUS is half a billion in debt to unknown personal lenders/foreign actors, because he can no longer get a normal business loan guaranteed via ANY bank in the United States.

This is why being open minded, well read, educated, and willing to admit when wrong, matters SO much.

People who live their lives by rules that are dispensed by religious leaders and any book, whether a bible, or a Quran, never stop and realize that their belief systems make them highly vulnerable to eventually being ruled by an autocratic statesman, who will use their very own religion to make their lives as unfree, and undemocratic as possible, until finally, they wipe out religion, because it is now the state that is to be worshipped, before God, and nor under God, but under their new dictator.

Huge trade offs here, and from what I’ve seen, they’re ready to make that trade off because, again - they never truly understood why our founding fathers risked it all to get away from that type of rule, called a MONARCHY, ruled as a kingdom, by a MONARCH ,where the state was the church and the church was the state, UNDER the MONARCH, or people whom we which we now call DICTATORS, in places like Iran, Turkey, and China.

That’s why separation of church and state was so important.

Now, they are just happy and willing to give EVERYTHING to Cesar, including their freedom, if necessary. Our, too.

by Anonymousreply 48September 29, 2020 9:48 PM

Some people are just fine with a fascist dictatorship if they get what they want out of it

by Anonymousreply 49September 29, 2020 9:56 PM

R48 most of the Long Island Jews I know or know of are still for Trump.

But I would never call them smart. They’re actually a very provincial bunch. (Generally, of course)

by Anonymousreply 50September 29, 2020 10:01 PM

So that’s what’s wrong with Hared?
