Doug Henning and Didi Conn

It's undeniable they were stars in "The Magic Show." But why?

He had a cleft palette and the world's worst haircut. She had a horse face and an extremely nasal voice.

I think drugs were involved. Some of those dancer guys in tight jeans are tasty.

Anita Morris, what a blast from the past! She was a very beautiful woman.

Trivia: Bob Randall who wrote the Broadway book for The Magic Show also wrote the novel The Fan that inspired the DL favorite movie starring Lauren Bacall

If only Didi had sung "Hearts Not Diamonds" in "The Magic Show",

The Magic Show was the first broadway show I saw as a kid. The tickets were in the family stocking on Christmas morning. We sat in the very last row of the balcony; which became our standard seats for yearly broadway outings. David Allen Ogden Stiers was in it pre-MASH. I had no idea they’d made it into a movie.

You got to remember it was the seventies. You seen some of the Stars we had. We had low standards. Kind of like the millenniums now.

It's one of the longest-running shows on Broadway (almost 2,000 performances) that's never been revived (and likely will never be.) Obviously I'm not including shows that are still running or have closed in the past decade or so.

I wish I’d seen “Merlin” though less for Henning and more for Chita and Nathan as her son! (How gay is THAT?)
