My dad had a thing for Ann-Margret. He wrote her name on the calendar, April 28, to remind us it was Ann's birthday. It drove my mom nuts. Mom had crushes on Steve Martin and Dennis Quaid. My dad called Martin "that albino son of a bitch."

My dad had a thing for Liz Taylor. If any of her movies came on TV, we were expected to remain completely quiet. The dialogue in masterpieces such as [italic]Elephant Walk[/italic] or [italic]Sandpiper [/italic] was important.
Interestingly my mother had similar coloring to Liz. Same dark brown almost black hair, intense eye color (Mom's were a vivid leaf green), same eyebrows and huge bustline. I guess Dad had a type.
My mother crushed on celebrities all the time. Before her death, she was panting after Kiefer Sutherland in [italic]24.[/italic] Later she was watching old TV reruns and ran across [italic]Alias Smith and Jones[/italic]. OMG - she thought Pete Duel was so cute, would watch the show just to look at him.

My mom had a thing for Bill Clinton. She shook his hand once at a campaigning event in ‘92. She said both men and women of varying ages and races were charmed by his empathetic yet alpha-dog charisma. Mom volunteered for Gore campaign in 2000, she said Gore was fine but couldn’t compare to Clinton in intelligence and emotional quotients plus charisma.

My mother would never have admitted it, but she rather fancied Gene Barry, who portrayed some sort of playboy detective in Burke’s Law (1960s TV series). He was always kissing all the women, which, as a kid, I hated.
Dad liked Lauren Bacall. He liked strong women with spirit. And he liked Bogie.

R32, my mother loved Johnny Mathis as well. I never had the heart to tell her he was gay, and she finally asked me one day if I knew, and how long I'd known. She and my grandmother (her mother) also both thought Michael Landon was the cat's pajamas.
My father's not one to crush on anyone, but he did date a girl in high school who went on to be a Playboy Bunny in NYC. I actually tracked her down on FB and it was odd to think she could've been my mum, hypothetically speaking. I didn't reach out to her because she apparently broke my father's heart. Then again, I wouldn't be here if they'd married.

He owned a copy of Pumping Iron. He also adored Gore Vidal. There were more, but these are the ones that come to mind immediately. His crushes tended to be on the male side. I hope he got a taste of dick before he died, but he was such an uptight mess, I doubt it.

Remember it like yesterday. When I was a kid about seven or eight, my father and I were laying on the couch together on a Sunday afternoon and "Bye Bye Birdie" came on. As Ann-Margret was singing the opening song my Dad just blurted out, "Isn't she sexy?" Of course being my introduction to her I thought she was fabulous in my own way and was a fan since that moment. Years Later I got to meet her a few times and she was just lovely and I have a very limited edition "Bye Bye Birdie" Blu-ray signed by her and as I walked away I said to my long gone Dad, yeah Dad she is sexy!

The only celebrity I remember my father liking in that way was, yes, Ann-Margret. She seems to have been big with dads. Maybe it was her ability to be sexy and wholesome at the same time.
When I was little, I remember my mother had a thing for Robert Goulet. Later on, Tom Jones. And later still, Tom Selleck. I can't really argue with her about any of them. Or Dad, either. If I had been a straight man in the '60s, I'd have liked Ann-Margret, too.

My dad had a fixation for Chicago Cubs player Mark Grace, who played pro ball in the 90's and 00's. I grew up knowing how much he loved the Cubs. At the factory where he worked, he was king of organizing baseball "pools" wherein the participants bet money on games, I guess. Mom sold more war bonds than anyone else at the Monsanto plant where she worked during WWII. Her prize: a jitterbug with Eddie Arnold, then just back from the Marines in the South Pacific for a bond drive. My brother had it for Linda Ronstadt.
He'd make me wear a brown bowl-cut wig and bend me over, fucking me, yelling BLUE BAY-YOOOOOOOOOOOO! when it popped.

My mom loved Tom Jones. She went to see him in concert during the '70s, and she assured me that she didn't toss her panties onstage. She also loved The Beatles, especially Paul.
My partner's mom, who's 88, loves Clark Gable.

My parents didn't watch much tv but they seemed glued to the set of Hawaiian Eye. My mother told me later it was because it contained both their crushes, Mom on Robert Conrad and Dad on Connie Stevens.

Nobody. I had those kind of parents that were still kissing like teenagers and making out at 65. Maybe why I haven't been able to find anyone long term after my late partner died. I keep subconsciously expecting something that is not realistic.

R135, mine, too. Holden was one of those tall, dark and handsome actors who used to be the standard of male attractiveness but are sadly rare in entertainment nowadays.

My mom was a tall brunette which I guess was my dad's type. The only woman he ever commented on was a local Boston entertainment newscaster named Joyce Kulhawick, who rather resembled my mom when she was younger. He seemed especially taken with her, it was kind of funny.

My 89 year old father still has it bad for Lynda Carter. Just sent him the tweet of her twirling for Biden and he was thrilled. My mom had a thing for Robert Goulet (bleh).

My mom had a huge crush on Mario Lanza, and I think since we lived in Pennsylvania and he was from south Philly she felt connected and that some day they would meet. Though my father was not Italian, he did have dark swarthy looks and that held part of the attraction looking like him for her. She could never really reconcile that he had drug use problems.

My mom had a thing For Jeffrey Hunter when she was a kid and as an adult she was all about Steve Young, QB for the 49ers. My dad is a weird one, he liked Marilyn Monroe when he was in high school and had a crush on Bjork and Toni Braxton back in the 90’s.
