Sounds like the show only had two good seasons in it.
I didn't much care for the third season either. All I remember are twins and an air-conditioner.

The trailer wasn't good at all. It's a shame though.
The season with my girl Kirsten Dunst was by far the best. I am a big fan of the movie and the second season and I would prefer if the show sticked to this atmosphere and spheres - the 70's or 90's. It always felt like a show where everything was possible and every character could something disturbing happen to him/her at any time. I also like the humour and the feel of americana.

It’s hilarious when Chris Rock pretends to be a dramatic actor - like a little girl wobbling in her Mother’s shoes.
Did he attempt it again?

Ugh. I was worried about this when I saw Chris Rock announced. After the first two episodes, I have to agree.
What on EARTH is straight men's attraction to Rock? Noah Hawley has done such good work, why did he fuck up so badly? I know he's not the casting director, but there's zero chance he didn't have full approval on all casting. I don't Chris Rock is a particularly funny or astute stand up comedian, let alone a competent actor. There is, of course, a history of standup and sketch comedians who turned out to be fine actors from Richard Pryor to Louis CK (may his career RIP), but Chris Rock is not it. He's serviceable in a minor role in a contemporary piece. He is not remotely believable in a period piece and he's a dramatic featherweight. That singer they cast as the funeral director can't act either. And, Jason Schwartzman, whom I enjoy is almost too silly as the elder son of the Italian crime family. I love the actress who plays the nutso-nurse, though.

R4 What did you expect? It doesn't have Kirsten Dunst in it.

R5 - I've enjoyed all three seasons and they've generally gotten the casting so right that I expected that Hawley & Co knew what they were doing and that Rock was going to surprise us with his performance. Instead, it's like watching Chris Rock do a bad SNL sketch while everyone else is in a darkly comic prestige drama. Oh, well, I'll probably stick around to see how it plays out.

The season with Jean Smart was good.
