I keep seeing it pop up on my Netflix. Is it worth watching OP?

It’s only 4 episodes so it’s not a big commitment. I am also watching The Vow on HBO, I like documentaries.

Just finished this...Geeze, the jail interview! This guy didn't PING to ANYONE? Those hands clasped under his chin! The tears!

That jail house interview was so wacky--he did many drag queen gestures with his hands.

Yes, it could have been done in 1-2 episodes.

I agree that the jailhouse interview was jarring. Throughout the four episodes, I wondered what this man had that would allow him to do so much damage to so many. I expected to witness charisma and charm beyond compare. Instead, the guy appeared nervous. The halves of his face seem to move independently as though he had a stroke, Bell’s palsy, or the forceps gripped him too tightly during child birth.

So, I assume he just gave intense focus on emotionally needy women and good dick.

He is absolutely FLAMING in his jailhouse interview. The whole scene was like something out of a Christopher Guest movie. Also came off as a dangerous sociopath who hated women.

So is this worth watching? It sounds intriguing but 4 hours of a story that could have been told in 90 minutes is sort of off-putting.

As a middle-aged woman I can honestly tell you there is nothing appealing about this guy whatsoever and I have no idea what these women saw in him. I would’ve rather seen a miniseries about the woman Bounty Hunter - she was a lot more interesting.

R10---I forgot to say in my earlier comment that he gave me total John Waters vibes! His mustache was on the wide side, but if he trimmed it pencil thin, I think we could accept him as a relative of JW. He never got any significant jail time so JW couldn't make him one of his Saturday visits.

It defies any kind of logic that this weeping, balding weenie was able to hustle so many women (at least 10) to the wedding altar only to rob them of all their savings. One woman lost $700K! WTF?

He seems to have Bell's Palsy of the right side--he couldn't blink his eye. Don't know if this was caused by stress of the arrest or he has had it a while

Of course, how much charisma does one really need to get those cows?

When men get old & ugly they can still get women. When women get old & ugly, they can’t get men. Men can buy women from Eastern Europe or Asia. They can get sex through prostitutes. They can reconnect with the children they ignored their whole lives after they ran off for some other woman. Adult kids tend to give their absentee, deadbeat dads a break.

But old ugly women are lonely. They want someone to care for them & in their minds, protect them. Elderly women are vulnerable. My mother was a widow, moved to FL & refused to hire handymen or contractors/plumbers because she didn’t want anyone to know she lived abalone. Luckily, she had 2 nearby nephews who would help her. She kept her blinds pulled down all day long. She wouldn’t plant flowers or do any kind of outdoor puttering because she was afraid someone driving past would see her & know she was alone, otherwise a man would be doing the outdoor work. She was lonely & afraid at night. But she didn’t want another husband. My father was a pain in the ass & she sure as hell didn’t want another one if him.

But these women want another husband. They want companionship, safety & sex. Some of them were good looking when they were younger but are living on small incomes & can’t buy nice clothes or get their hair done, but they still remember when men liked them. They are still the same people they were when they were younger & people valued them.

Our society is disjointed & broken. We don’t have the churches we used to have that made sure the elderly were taken care of. We don’t have the VFW as a happy place it used to be - it’s full of nasty old Vietnam vets with a chip on their shoulders, substance abuse problems & no teeth.

I think that’s why Trump is so popular. He’s something that lonely, unhappy or, half looney old people can gather round and rally to. When I was a teen I used to help a friend who belonged to a youth group at the Catholic Church. They used to have bingo, card games, spaghetti dinners & dances in the church hall that drew older people. We’d set up the tables for card games and there was a little kitchen where we’d make hot dogs, sell bottles of soda, make tea & coffee. There would be a raffle for a toaster or something. The place was packed on Saturday night.

Where are those places now? There’s nothing but big box stores & megachurches. My grandma spent every weekend at bingo with her old lady friends teasing the emcee & making jokes. She was never lonely. We need places for old people to meet once a week so they have something to look forward to.

Just watched this and I’m on the last episode and I’m like WTF? Hilarious interview!

This guy didn't choose old grannies, it was women in their late 30s-50s I'd estimate. They were often plain-ish, he didn't try for the great beauties or the greatly wealthy. He chose average women and took all their average money. I got the feeling he did it mostly because he's compulsive liar. He got money and stuff but never really got far ahead financially.

The doc played lots of taped calls with him being weepy and begging for love and such. It was interesting to see him turning on the tears in person. Did not feel sorry for him when he cried about the website that explains what a con man he is. Boo-hooooo.

More filmmaker shenanigans here, I guess to get it edited and out the door, but bargain-basement compared to the Golden State Killer doc.

The writing on the faked walkie talkie conversations was pause-button cringe-worthy for the filmmakers.

The interviews with "Lee"... I mean, she had to sign a release for the filmmakers. Can she legally consent if she's that fucked up? I get wanting to show the trainwreck, but like the co-director is cold-calling her, knowing she's wasted. For a lot of doc people (I will disclose that I am a doc person), this is a big red flag.

And I don't get having 0 interaction with any of the women to challenge them on Richard/Scott being *visibly* insane... maybe not insane, but definitely not some man of your dreams personality. And the throat-clearning tic is a kind of Tourette's, but like... this gave no one a moment's pause?

And since I was writing I checked the imdb for the show and I work with one of the network execs, and that explains it all. Total shitbird.

Love is so rare it's not even worth thinking about. But- kinda like the lottery or the casino- everyone thinks they're going to 'win'. So they keep playing.

I watched, but, didn't find it particularly involving. Yes, the serial groom is a complete shit, however , the women seemed like sitting ducks. Can you imagine meeting someone online, then, marrying them a month later?
