He's gifted with a natural sense of humor that easily flows without trying, had a wonderful rapport with the audience and at home viewers, He and Erin worked spectacularly with each other. The two set the tone the moment they walked on stage, and kept it upbeat throughout the program. It was fun, it was happy, and we couldn't wait to see what happened the following week. We couldn't get enough!

Banks was flat, humorless, and mistakenly thought the stage was her personal fashion show runway. Her comments were droll and totally void of genuine humor, and I found myself wishing she would trip on that hot pink monstrosity and require bed rest for the next three months. Even Johnny Weir wouldn't be caught in that rufflemanian mess.

And THAT, is what makes us mad, r90 ! As a host, she's a hot mess, and we don't need her drivel for the next twelve weeks. The fans will never embrace her.

I am willing to give Tyra a few episodes to settle in, but at the end of the day there was no reason to get rid of Tom Bergeron. Erin Andrews did suck, and they've had better female co-hosts, but Tom was solid. This is one of those cases of if it ain't broke don't fix it. If ABC was really interested in proving their "woke" bone fides they could have found Tom a new black or brown co-host.

GET OVER TOM. He costs too much and his specialty is working with a live audience. He knows how to sway things smoothly etc. this season there was no live audience so they felt no need to pay him his crazy salary and brought in someone who has a younger, diverse fan base hoping she brings in new viewers.

The old format was dying. Viewership has been falling for years. They needed an overhaul and they had to cut back. Tyra is cheaper than Tom, Erin, and whatever producer(s) she replaced.

They also clearly want to attract a younger crowd because they see the writing on the wall. They need new viewers. And the olds are dying off.

Bergeron is like 70 years old. He was a good host and the pro dancers liked him. But they knew this season would be different. There can be no touching or hands around the waist, or schmoozing between two hosts, so they came up with a new plan. Tyra Banks was a terrible choice. Why replace old and vapid with aging and fake? People here hate Erin but she and Bergeron were really good at the live interview format and ad libs and reacting to the performers in a genuine and playful way. Tyra has never been able to do anything but talk about Tyra or ask condescending and tone deaf questions. On ANTM she had some semi worthwhile advice and experience to impart, but she's out of her lane here. She. Can't. Help. But. Make. Everything. About. Herself.

I think the new set is fanfuckintastic and the more direct and intimate dancing is an improvement. Judging panel is fine, because we learned that Derek is not afraid to give a real critique. Even if he has a zombie personality. The show was looking and acting too much like some out of date CASINO before. This could have been a good reimaging. But the host is really important on these shows. They help us to get to know the contestants in spontaneous ways. Tyra hasn't had a spontaneous moment on TV since she spit on Janice Dickinson. She's just so wrong.

Like everyone said - Jordan Fisher or even the slimy Alfonso would have been ideal new hosts. Tyra is really fucking rich and has almost Oprah levels of television success. But a live show exposes her as endlessly narcissistic, try hard and clueless. She really does try to relate to people - but she ain't got the touch.

I kind of hope the show can survive this season of Tryra. The rest of it is an improvement. No need to bring back Tom. Tyra is already fired obviously. Just replace her with some warmth and humor. Not a parade float.

Ratings were really good, and topped the night. Highest DWTS premiere rating since 2017.

ET spoke about the show tonight. It did the best it’s done in a few years and was up in the demo they’re targeting with Tyra, the young people.

They also mentioned her performance is getting mixed reviews but it was also her first night. Give her a little time before shredding her apart.

I think people need comfort right now. Many places which seemed to be improving are now having Covid numbers rise again. We're heading into the fall/winter and people are worried/stressed.

I think this show is coming on at the right time. People need comfort food TV and I think DWTS is perfect for that.

So happy my AJ (who no one here cares about) is boosting Backstreet boys' awareness with the public again. Bsb was in the middle of their dna world tour when covid derailed stuff, and their concerts are rescheduled for next summer in the US.

DWTS ain't dicking around on the rink. Johnny is not learning how to do latin and ballroom dances. He was scored high only on a contemporary number, where there is no particular technique or rules required. And still he had a slope back and fat ass out posture. Bad feet.

Johnny didn't get this discipline of movement from the start. He's not Kristi Yamuchichi, or Adam Rippon or Shaun Young or Simone Biles. He is not a synchronized mover. Jumping on skates has nothing to do with dancing. And Johnny mostly fell down and did flamboyant arm movements during his skating career. He's not even in the top 200 male figure skater of the last 20 years. So keep it in perspective Becky. Weir is so very far from being like Charlie White or Meryl Davis. Johnny is just ok. Middle of the pack in this very mediocre bunch of dancers. Like it or not, ballroom dancing has a very set style of movements, rhythm and postures. It takes years to perfect. Some are able to be taught while their partner makes them look good. Johnny hasn't got this posture or movement. And he won't make it until the end. Because he can't get it. It's sad to see him look disappointed, but he sucked as a figure skater too. Nice living he's made out of not being very talented. As a gay man - he's done some cool things for our community. His partner is fantastic. Johnny always lands on his feet - which we call his ASS. Now in huge.

Johnny doesn't get much right. To get the moves wrong and then sell them too hard is to risk the wrath of the judges. Some y'all need to watch a pro ballroom competition or Dancing at the Palais Royale. They just point and wave off dancer couples spinning round the floor at rapid speed or with gorgeous frame and sweep. Nope. One after another. All of the ones waved off are a hundred times better than Johnny Weir. Yeah, DWTS is meant as entertainment, but they sometimes kind of enforce ballroom dancing rules. Because that is what these *stars* are there to learn, no? And all the pros, as strange and sexy as some of them are - spent their lives competing in such competitions. From the time they were kids. Many of them are world champions. It's a very specific kind of dancing. A great tango is as good as a fine and finessed as a pas de deux. But Ballroom dancers could never do what a ballet dancer does with their bodies. They're a bit more like circus acts. Certain countries and cultures force their kids to dress like whores at 10 years old. Revealing costumes, too much makeup and such sexual moves. And that's just on the young boys. Hey Mark and Gleb!! Julianne Hough was maybe the great phenom of DWTS. She left early on, to become Derek Hough's sister? But she bodied that overly sexualized teenage girl. Her movements were lightning. Her dancing was a blur of things we don't see often. I'm not sure that ballroom dancing is a wholesome or positive "sport." The Soviet Union and Mormons families push their kids into it. For every Derek and Julianne, there must be a Johnny and Cheer coach.

Johnny no good at this discipline. I can't help you if you don't understand why. Watch the ones who were great on this show - There's an idea.
