Spoiler alert: they ain't pretty
The reviewers that point out Murphy favors style over substance are so right. I love camp but almost everything is so over the top it takes away from the overall show.

I read the TVline review and it made me want to see it.
I wasn't interested before.

What about my personal reviews?

What’d they say about Sharon?

All of Ryan Murphy's Netflix output has been poorly received so far.

This is a prequel, but the star is OLDER than the star of the movie that was set 20+ years later?

Tom and Lorenzo agree it is crap.
[QuoteRatched is lurid nonsense. There. We said it. Our review is up tomorrow.

I'm not totally against "lurid".

I was looking forward to this. I'll watch it anyway, though I'm feeling a bit of schadenfreude where Murphy is concerned. I'm looking forward to seeing Judy Davis.

Sharon Stone is in this too, I find her imminently watchable.

Good news, her big scene is coming up soon!

Yes r10 but what are your views on lurid [italic]nonsense[/italic]?

Oh dear.

Ryan Murphy is such a hack, does he have any original story ideas of his own, ever?
That said, I WILL be watching this for the always delectable Finn Wittrock. Sharon Stone is pretty dope, too.

Okay but how much male nudity from the hot guys? That's the real selling point for this series.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 15, 2020 8:52 AM |
Looks awful, as bad as that Showtime series which just ended 'We Hunt Together'. The two leads were good, the detectives, but the killers, there was nothing interesting about either of them. Their reasons for killing were vague. The female killer was excruciating.

Variety had praise for Sarah Paulson but hated the series.
I bet Netflix probably isn't that happy they already green-lit the damn thing for Season 2.

The UK reviews are very positive. Maybe they get it more. But Murphy needs to go away. His ubiquity is tacky.

R21 I’m having Ryan Murphy overload as well, I liked his stuff at first, but it’s formulaic now. Other than the ‘A Secret Love’ documentary he did, his stuff has been disappointing lately. Jumping the shark.

These reviews make me REALLY want to watch it. I mean...did anyone really expect this to be any more than trash. It's Ryan Murphy for God's sake. He shot his wad decades ago, but I'm still enjoying the ride.

You mean the standard Ryan Murphy promo close-up picture of the lead character's face doing something unsettling like holding a sharp instrument close to her eye, isn't working?! Gasp!!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 15, 2020 11:06 AM |
I don't give a shit what some stranger thinks of it. I want to watch and I will and the world will still turn, well for now.

R26 has stated her boundaries!

How would Ryan Murphy adapt "Michfest"?

Lily Rabe as the high Wicca priestess of Grosse Point!

Ryan Murphy used to be interesting, but he seems to be turning into a Tyler Perry-like factory of mediocrity suited for a niche audience. (Compliments to him on being business savvy, but not so much on creating award-winning and worthwhile "art.")

Unlike Tyler Perry even his "niche" audience doesn't seem to be taking to his work like they used to. I'm with the person that said he needs to be reigned in and Netflix will NEVER do that.
I just want him to go away, focus on one project and make it good instead of flitting around like a mad man.
