Venush.
OP, are you a headline writer over at The New Yorker?

Venush.

I would first like to thank my god, Jehovah.

We need to get over the fact that "life" out there does not necessarily look like us or be something known to exist on Earth.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 14, 2020 4:16 PM |
It's inhabited by a race of giant tennis players.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 14, 2020 4:17 PM |
R5, there are billions of galaxies out there, so I don't doubt there is fully-formed life in at least one of them.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 14, 2020 4:25 PM |
The real question here is if these alien life forms want to come here and take our jobs? š”
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 14, 2020 4:58 PM |
THEY TOOK EHR JERBS!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 14, 2020 5:01 PM |
R7, I was not necessarily saying there was NOT lifeforms like us out there, more that there may be other lifeforms not similar to what is found on Earth - or in environments not like ours.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 14, 2020 5:02 PM |
Isn't the temperature there like 850 F?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 14, 2020 5:03 PM |
Personally, even if scientists confirm that there are microbes in the Venusian atmosphere, I will still feel very much alone in the Universe.

[quote] Recognizable or not, any Venusian life would probably smell bad. Phosphine is so toxic that it has been used as a chemical agent in warfare and by terrorist groups. āWeāve evolved to think that toxic things smell bad,ā Sousa-Silva said, adding that any Venusian beings might be hardwired to feel the same way. Venusian life āwould smell disgusting [to us], but we would be repulsive to them,ā she said.
Could make for some interesting kink.

Verifcatia of shit?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 14, 2020 5:17 PM |
So Venusian balls do not smell like freshly baked bread?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 14, 2020 5:18 PM |
Whew - I didn't want to have to take my earrings off and whoop some ass.

There's an intoxicating mix of intelligence and stupidity on this thread.

It would also be cool if they sang like Miss Janet Blair!

Je suis Venusian.

I am sorry r12 that the Datalounge momentarily forgot that you are the center of the universe.

POINT. [whoosh!] r21ās head POINT

My high school friend and I would sing it:
She's Venus with no arms
Mona Lisa with a funny smile
And I love her out of pity...

I think the longest an Earth lander has survived on Venus was about two hours. Whatever may be there ha to be able to cope with 90 atmospheres of pressure and constant heat of hundreds of degrees. Not to mention sulfuric acid rain.
Venus was a lot more fun when scientists told us to expect dinosaurs there.

Datalounge in a nutshell.

Venusian lives matter.

only on the surface. High in the atmosphere the air pressure is much lower and temperatures much cooler. In fact humans could probably survive there - provided an air supply and protection from sulphuric acid....
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 14, 2020 6:48 PM |
"Isn't the temperature there like 850 F?"
Yes, but it's a dry heat.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 14, 2020 6:54 PM |
But it's not the heat, it's the humidity.

Perfect for baking cookies! Yay! *hands clapping*
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 14, 2020 8:22 PM |
R28, lol. But it's not a dry heat. Venus has a strong greenhouse effect, so it probably feels more like 8 Ft. Lauderdales in the middle of August.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 14, 2020 8:25 PM |
What was her name?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 14, 2020 8:26 PM |
I liketheory I read in an old sci-fi story... that the Venusians are slowly infiltrating Earth and changing our climate to match their tastes.
That'd explain a lot, right?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 14, 2020 9:55 PM |
Right r27. The upper atmosphere of Venus is similar to Earth, and that's where this gas was detected. Easy to see how there could be microorganisms surviving at high altitudes.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 14, 2020 10:23 PM |
Build that space wall!!! And get Venus to pay for it!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 14, 2020 11:08 PM |
Do Venusians also look like the Quaker Oats guy?
(If you donāt get it, consider yourself lucky.)
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 14, 2020 11:16 PM |
Don't confuse Venusians with their close relatives the Serenites who are known to become belligerent, verbally abusive, and the females are commonly indistinguishable from the males.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 15, 2020 12:41 AM |
Scott Manley talks about this (he's amazing, btw).
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 15, 2020 12:43 AM |
Venus will develop life Long after Earth dies and will have itās time in the Goldilocks zone before it too eventually gets devoured by the sun and the next planet gets its turn.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 15, 2020 12:51 AM |
Venus is closer to the sun than Earth is, R42.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 15, 2020 1:56 AM |
So somebody farted on Venus?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 15, 2020 2:12 AM |
This is bullshit.
We already know there is live INSIDE Venus.
Valiant Thor visited during the Eisenhower Administration.
