Have any of you ever been? It isn't advertised or announced, just word of mouth, every Thurday (in season, meaning winter) and it is always a lot of fun believe it or not. the average age is probably 55-60, everyone is wearing a navy blazer, pressed khakis, an Hermes tie and Gucci loafers. Everyone is very friendly, very social and you usually end up going out to dinner (preferably Buccan as its close-by) with people you've met there or friends you already knew. Despite how it might seem, it is not stuffy in the least - I always have had more fun there then any other regular gay bar I've gone to. If you are new or vacationing, or you are young, they will descend on you like flies on a carcass. And if you are looking for a Sugar Daddy, this is the place to be - but make sure you are well-spoken, well-dressed and groomed, have good table manners and are a good conversationalist.
Palm Beach's Colony Hotel - Thursday night Gay Men's Happy Hour

But FYI -The Colony Hotel is closed until the end of October

Never been but I need to visit next time I go see my mother.

R2 - you definitely need to check it out. And don't worry about wearing the "uniform" I never do. Last time I went I wore white jeans and a navy linen button-up shirt and that worked just fine.

So everyone wears the same outfit, but it's not stuffy at all. Right.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 13, 2020 11:05 PM |
R4 - in any gathering of gay men that's repetitive, they start dressing the same.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 13, 2020 11:08 PM |
Sounds like a room of shaved pubes.

Yuck. That sounds like my idea of hell.
Who still wears navy blazers anymore?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 13, 2020 11:11 PM |
It sounds charming.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 13, 2020 11:13 PM |
R7 - sorry but not everyone wears hoodies. Navy blazers are still first choice in many places. Have you ever been to Nantucket?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 13, 2020 11:13 PM |
"Who wears navy blazers anymore?" r7
Well to a gay bar, the guys in the navy blazers are usually the ones with terrible bodies.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 13, 2020 11:14 PM |
R10 - it isn't a gay bar. The bar in the hotel is just taken over by gay men on Thursday night Happy Hour. The rest of the time the place is generally straight. It's also a beautiful, old school hotel as well, but if you aren't into Lily Pulitzer pink and green interiors you won't like it.

A lemon party for the waxed scrotum set.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 13, 2020 11:18 PM |
This is a troll post.
There is no “navy blazer uniform.”
OP created this thread to denigrate Florida homosexuals. GET A FUCKING CLUE.

They do an excellent job themselves.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 14, 2020 12:18 AM |
Yeah, I don't see any problem with denigrating regional gays.

If you love a piano, and are in the mood for seasoned cocks (‘n) tales, it can be a very friendly night.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 14, 2020 12:48 AM |
There's no dress code except smart-casual. I'm usually overdressed as I go there straight from the Everglades up the road.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 14, 2020 1:50 AM |
It's not taken all that seriously but it gives a nod to the older, bourgeois, waspsy gay fantasy. Drinks are way stiffer than the cocks.,

Isn't this where RHONY's Countess LuAnn had her breakdown and arrest?
Yes, yes it is. Sounds like a lot of good people watching.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 14, 2020 2:43 AM |
Well OP - it's not advertised - but it's out there.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 14, 2020 2:46 AM |
Aren’t all bars closed?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 14, 2020 2:52 AM |
R6 and R12 thanks for the tips. The shaved pube and waxed scrotum set is fucking hot. Can’t wait to go
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 14, 2020 2:54 AM |
Sounds lovely - I fall into that age range and there are not a lot of options to socialize. While the Lily Pulitzer pant with navy blazer might be OTT, might be better that denim cut offs or a harness on a man of a certain age.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 14, 2020 2:57 AM |
It's closed until Oct. Then, you wear your Bermuda shorts with your blazer.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 14, 2020 3:02 AM |
R24 - that makes the shoe choice more dicey. Is a loafer still mandatory or can you risk a matching boating shoe?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 14, 2020 3:13 AM |
Guccis with the Bermuda shorts and blazer.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 14, 2020 3:16 AM |
OP here. Sorry R13 but you are wrong, I'm not a troll and I'm not trying to "denigrate Florida homosexuals". Perhaps the "uniform" I described is a bit of an exxageration as not everybody wears that (myself included). This post, I thought, was affectionate - as I stated, I've thoroughly enjoyed myself every time I've attended. I thought perhaps if anyone reading were visiting Palm Beach or nearby South Florida, they might like to check it out. In my opinion it is a far better experience than a typical gay bar.
