I worked at a large restaurant. During my first week of work, I was meeting everybody for the first time. I met a woman named "Anna" who told me her name was pronounced "Ahhnna," so, that was how I pronounced it. I've actually had good luck with most Lindas. Karens--however--I've worked for two Karens that were both grossly overweight, single, miserable human beings. The first one I worked for as a freshman student assistant in the registrar's office in college...she was the assistant registrar. Of course, most student transcripts were computerized by then, but her transcript wasn't since she'd been a student in the late 80s/early 90s. Part of my duties were refiling the old school, hand-typed transcripts in the fireproof records room. I worked for her and another lady who were both absolute cunts to me the whole semester, and I refiled both of their transcripts alphabetically under last name "Bitch" at the end of my last day of the semester. This was 1999 and I doubt they ever found them...I actually hope to God they never found them in the thousands of files.

The 2nd Karen was my boss during my senior internship, also in a department on the college campus. She was also fat, single, and miserable. She constantly underminded me with simple editorial tasks for a newsletter (which absolutely no one was reading) and finally told me, "It doesn't really matter what you do here...I'll only fail you if you don't show up for your scheduled shifts." I immediately went to my internship advisor and reminded him I was working full-time overnight, as well as taking x3 classes and doing this internship, and that I didn't feel like she appreciated my editorial work (I was an English major doing the internship in another department). He obviously spoke to Fat Karen 2.0, because after that, she had nothing but glowing praise for me and my editorial input in the useless newsletter. I ended up with an A for the internship, and she even wrote me a job recommendation.
