Any Other Vegans Here?
I transitioned from vegetarian to vegan about three months ago, and I'm finding it hard to keep muscle mass on.
Cutting out eggs really did a number on me.
I'm eating lots of quinoa, tofu, etc., but still losing weight.
Suggestions from any other DL vegans?

I eat meat but deep inside I know I've always been a vegan.

Someone just gifted me several weeks of meal kits from Purple Carrot.
I'm not vegan, but all the meals are.
But I'm shocked at how tasty they have been.

I'm vegan, and I had a lot of muscle (for a woman) when I was working out a lot.
In addition to quinoa, I ate a lot of peanut butter and almonds (my favorite foods). But you still need carbs: whole wheat pizza, berries, etc.

You need protein - avocadoes, nuts, and so on. Lotsa nuts

I get my weekday meals through Purple Carrot, R3, and you are correct. They are indeed delicious.
I just feel as if I'm [italic]constantly[/italic] having to eat in order to get the amount of protein I want.
A buddy at the gym who is also vegan suggested protein powder (vegan); however, I was hoping to avoid that. I guess we'll just have to see.

I tried this and farted all day long so much my asshole hurt. I don't think I can eat tofu and this many veggies. there may be something to the blood type diet.

There is absolutely no peer-reviewed research supporting the "blood type" diet, R7. It's just as specious as the cabbage soup diet your mom and her friends tried back in the 70s and 80s.

, R8, Is there any validity to the hereditary diet? Meaning some do well on Atkins but more do not based on the region of their ancestors.
What's the best product on the market to get rid of gas? I'm eating beans with a smaller portion of meat daily for lunch as well as a lot of cabbage. Had to give up broccoli.

Low carb fucks with my stomach. I need a bit.

OP, here’s what I eat to increase my protein, and I have not lost any muscle switching to a plant based diet from a vegetarian diet. Vital wheat gluten is high in protein and a good meat replacement.
All beans are great, but lupini beans are high in protein and low in carbs. Hemp seeds are another high protein option. I also like to use powdered peanuts because of the lower fat content.
If you lift weights you might want to add a plant based protein powder to your diet. Even omnivorous Bodybuilders supplement their protein intake.

R9 try Beano. It works for me

No medical basis that I know of, R9, and FYI . . . broccoli is much more nutritious than cabbage. If you've just begun eating more cruciferous vegetables it may take a while for your body to adjust and stop producing so much gas. There aren't really any completely effective products to prevent gas but you might try something containing simethicone. Beano, aka, alpha-galactosidase, might help you too.

I definitely lift, R11, and spend more time in the gym than I'm willing to admit. Thanks for your advice. I'll look into a plant based protein powder.

14 year vegan. Incorporate lots of leafy greens with tofu tempeh + whole grain pasta. Also lots of seeds, nuts and avocados. Check out Rich Roll and Brendan Brazier for nutrition advice too.

Also sweet potato, steel cuts oats etc and I make a almond butter shake with vegan protein that is great. Sun Warrior is a great brand.

R11 is right - vital wheat protein (AKA seitan) is a very good source of plant protein and actually tastes good, too. Edamame and other soy products as well.
