What long-since forgotten shows from this era of reality tv do you remember? I'm asking because I remembered "Beauty and the Geek" out of nowhere while I was driving today. I have no idea WHY it popped into my head, but it did... and I can't say that I've thought about it in 15 years. What garbage shows from this era do YOU remember?

My favorite horrible reality show was Love is in the Heir. Certainly it fell into the "so bad, it's amazing" category. From Wikipedia: "The series follows the life of Iranian Princess Ann Claire Van Shaick, the granddaughter of HIH Princess Shams of the Pahlavi Dynasty, and daughter of HH Prince Shahboz Pahlbod and Beatrice Anne. Against her parents wishes, she moves to Los Angeles with the hopes of becoming a country singer. Her parents disapprove of her lifestyle and make repeated attempts to bring her back to London with no success. Ann Claire's father ultimately gives her a time frame in which she has to become a successful country music star or return to her family and enter into an arranged marriage."

Oh I remember Love is in the Heir. Her proposed single was called “When the Rubber Hits the Road”
There was the INXS Rockstar show around that time.

"Mad Mad House" on SyFy.
The premise was that the contestants were boring normal people, and they had to live in a house with a group of people representing "alternative lifestyles": a witch, a vampire, a naturist, a primitive, and a voodoo priestess.
Each week the contestants had to do challenges based on these alternative lifestyles, and the one who performed the worst got eliminated.
I remember this fat girl who was a Christian and was always crying at all the things they were making her do, and she eventually quit the show.
It was also the first time the world got a load of that asshole David Avocado Wolfe, who was the "naturist".
"Seducing Cindy"
Cindy Margolis was this chick who was one of the first "internet stars", before social media existed. She claimed to be "the most searched woman on the internet" (totally bogus claim, but it worked...she became kinda famous for it). Anyway, eventually they gave her her own dating show on Fox Reality, where she was the quasi-"Bachelorette" and a bunch of guys competed for her. Some of them were hot, which is the only reason why I remember the show. I remember one guy named Art whose MySpace I used to stalk.
"Kill Reality" on E!
This show represents the pinnacle of the reality TV "craze", when reality was still fairly new and novel, rather than just standard programming. It was a behind-the-scenes show that chronicled the filming of a TV horror movie whose cast was made of solely of reality TV stars. The movie was written and directed by Rob Cesternino from "Survivor", and it starred a bunch of people from various seasons of "Survivor", "Big Brother", "Amazing Race", "The Bachelor", "The Real World", and a few other shows. This was back when people seriously still thought they could launch legit showbiz careers after appearing on one of these shows.
"Eco Challenge" on USA
This show was actually amazing. Eco Challenges are legitimate, grueling sporting events. It's like "The Amazing Race", but for serious athletes, not stupid and lame. People were pushed to the limits of their physical abilities. There was lots of vomiting and pants-shitting. I could never watch "The Amazing Race" after seeing this. I just found out they brought it back, but it's on Amazon, which I don't have, dammit.

"Age of Love"
Aussie tennis hottie Mark Philippoussis (former U.S. Open and Wimbledon finalist) as the "Bachelor/Flavor Flav/Bret Michaels" guy. The twist was that there were 2 groups of women: kittens (in their 20's) and cougars (in their late 30's to late 40's.)
Spoiler alert!!! The one he eventually picked was from the kittens. Another spoiler alert!!! They broke up after a few months.

I used to love the British show How Clean Is Your House? with Kim and Aggie. It was more fun and less depressing than Hoarders, although they definitely visited some shitholes.

I loved that show. The Gotti crowd won the genetic lottery. . I'm not sure whatever became of them but I doubt any became a world renowned surgeon.

A second vote for The Swan. I love a good reveal. I wonder what the contestants look like now and how their lives ended up. I loved the 10 minute psychology sessions too!

Supersize VS Superskinny was my guilty pleasure. It was on from 2008-2014. I still watch old episodes on YouTube, I love watching sexy Dr. Jessen shame the cast for their lifestyle choices.

It was a bit earlier than the mid-00s but I used to really like this show called "Ambush Makeover." I just thought it was a lot of fun. As the name suggests, they had a series of hosts who'd go out on the street, pick out some random person, and take them back to the studio for a makeover. I remember there was one episode in particular where one of the female hosts picked this really scraggly-looking guy with a long beard (he almost looked like he was homeless, though I can't recall if he actually was) and let me tell you, after they fixed him up (cut his hair, shaved him, put him in a suit, etc.), he was fucking gorgeous. I mean HOT is what he was, so much so that I really got a vibe from the female host who found him that she really liked what she saw (and didn't do much to hide it).
Anyway, as I said, it was a fun show. Only lasted a couple of seasons, though.
