Kevin Dobson is DEAD to me!

“I didn’t want to see the world through rose-colored glasses, I wanted the world to BE rose-colored!”-Karen McKenzie

by Anonymousreply 76September 11, 2020 4:18 AM

I thought he was so sexy in Knots Landing,

by Anonymousreply 1September 7, 2020 5:06 PM

He's not dead.

by Anonymousreply 2September 7, 2020 5:07 PM

Or OP has very inside information.

by Anonymousreply 3September 7, 2020 5:11 PM

"Who loves ya baby?"

by Anonymousreply 4September 7, 2020 5:23 PM

Someone help me. I'm still alive, only I'm in a lot of pain.

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2020 6:13 PM

As a kid he was so hot to me on Kojak — me in the middle of a Dobson / Danno second banana sandwich would have been my ultimate sex fantasy if I had been old enough to have sex fantasies back then.

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2020 6:33 PM

I’m not dead. I get up to piss five times a night. I’m a dribbler.

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2020 6:36 PM

Per wikipedia at r5's link, he is dead.

by Anonymousreply 9September 7, 2020 6:41 PM

I think it's true...

by Anonymousreply 10September 7, 2020 6:42 PM

They just updated the page, then, because an hour ago, there was nothing online about his death.

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2020 6:46 PM

His family announced it on Facebook yesterday.

by Anonymousreply 12September 7, 2020 6:47 PM

He was the main reason I watched Knots Landing. RIP, if true.

by Anonymousreply 14September 7, 2020 7:02 PM

Wikipedia updated to say he died after suffering a heart attack.

by Anonymousreply 15September 7, 2020 7:04 PM

Didn't mean to prove you wrong, r5, r15. When I looked at it, it had the statement, but was still lacking the citation. So it must have been a brand new update when I looked at it.

by Anonymousreply 16September 7, 2020 7:06 PM

A few posters said Kevin's wife Susan Dobson made a facebook post about Kevin's death, but I can't find it

by Anonymousreply 17September 7, 2020 7:08 PM

Another post from the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County

He was a sexy man. And apparently a stand up man as well. Married to the same woman for 52 years.

Paul Carafotes (Harold) just tweeted

Kevin Dobson a great and generous actor passed. I remember him for his friendship a gracious, open minded actor with ideas to augment a scene and didnt mind if ideas gave it toYOU. We had fun

then he tweets

Idk if it was today but the news came through today

by Anonymousreply 20September 7, 2020 7:13 PM

Someone posted on FB that they had spoken to his wife and that it’s true. Someone else spoke to his nephew and said that they have a large family to notify before making a public announcement.

by Anonymousreply 21September 7, 2020 7:15 PM

Re R21 - which is why I think the media is holding off on this until an official statement is released from the family.

It's hard to get through her page with all the right-wing, rethug crap she adheres to.

[quote] The wife put up a non-specific emoji post requesting prayers for him on September 3.

But there are other posts that she has put up that are "hidden" away and only available to people she has "friended" I suspect it was one of those posts she made the announcement.

Does (or did) he adhere to that "thinking" as well?

by Anonymousreply 33September 7, 2020 8:13 PM

RIP Kevin :( He was so talented and very handsome and sexy well into his 50s.

by Anonymousreply 34September 7, 2020 8:43 PM

I remember him well when he was a conductor on the Long Island Railroad in the early 1970s. He was sexy as hell.

by Anonymousreply 35September 7, 2020 8:45 PM

I thought he was the sexiest guy on Knot's Landing.

R19

Yes, Kevin Dobson was one of the greats; stand-up husband and family man, never went "Hollywood", military vet and never forgot fellow servicemen.

Loved him on Kojak as Sgt. Crocker. Even then his character wasn't far from the man; Theo Kojak would mention that Sgt. Crocker went to church events (fairs, parties, etc...) instead of the 1970's NYC single dating scene in search of a wife.

by Anonymousreply 56September 8, 2020 2:33 AM

If he hadn't gone bald over that dome-head he could've been a contender.

Plus my understanding was that he was a big precummer and would have a wet spot on his pants after any love scene.

by Anonymousreply 57September 8, 2020 2:37 AM

He was a good actor and hot in that Queens kind of way, but the toupee...the toupee, the toupee, eww. He could give Tony Bennett and Robert Redford a run for the money.

He was very good on Knots Landing. His character, Mack, could be annoying and at times and self righteous, but you still liked him despite that because he always meant well. I preferred Mack over Sid, because Mack was a more complex character.

I think this might be my favorite scene on his on Knots. He tries to convince Jason, an abused teen he befriended, not to go back to his abusive father by recounting the abuse he suffered at the hands of his own father, something he tried to downplay nearly his whole life up until then. Very well done scene.

He was also Mickey on DOOL after John Clarke retired.

by Anonymousreply 61September 8, 2020 2:11 PM

Aren't we sure foul play wasn't involved?

Could be Joshua who survived the fall.

by Anonymousreply 62September 8, 2020 3:03 PM

R60, great scene!

R60 I always thought the writing in that storyline was a little heavy-handed. I just tried to watch this scene with fresh eyes. I still think that, but I can appreciate Kevin’s simultaneous vulnerability and masculinity in this scene in a way I never did before. Thanks for posting.

by Anonymousreply 65September 8, 2020 4:28 PM

Kevin was great in that scene; Eric and Michael were gone at this point, no? I loved watching Mac play dad to them especially Michael; if he was stern with him he'd say "Mike" and when he was gentle with him, he'd say "Michael"

I don't recall Mac's dad being abusive when Jeff Corey played the part years before this....

That said, the acting is great from him. The kid who played Jason, too; I'm not sure he ever did much after other than play a photographer's assistant on DAYS. (how do I KNOW that??)

by Anonymousreply 66September 8, 2020 6:19 PM

R59 - like most handsome buy not pretty men he looks hot with a receding hairline. Balding can certainly be sexy, (if you’re already sexy).

Never watched Kojak when it was on in the '70s, but seeing it not too long ago on the pharma lawsuit channels reminded me how much KD looked like a married fuck buddy I had for a long time back in the late '90s-early '00s. Hot dudes - both of 'em.

by Anonymousreply 71September 9, 2020 6:39 AM

Donna’s Instagram post needs a giant “Oh, dear!” Loose!?!

by Anonymousreply 72September 9, 2020 7:10 AM

Always got a right wingy straight male homophobe vibe from him...anyone interact with him in real life, on set , etc.? I could be wrong.

by Anonymousreply 73September 9, 2020 7:54 PM

R73 who used to work for the NAACP, I think like a lot of people I know, like my family, he WAS a Drmocrat and fought for equality but since Democrats have gone insane in recent years and are pushing for socialism and abolishment of the police, he switched parties or maybe might be an Independent

Like me

Michele Lee commented on a post I saw on FB, but I looked on all of Michele's accounts -- twitter, fb (her page isn't public), and instagram -- and I can't see it.

it's shot and sweet; she thanks Kevin's wife Susan for sharing him and letting her be his second/tv wife.

I did hear some gossip: they waited as long as possible before telling Joan Van Ark.

They also did not want her making the coffee at a social-distancing memorial.

by Anonymousreply 75September 11, 2020 4:18 AM

I can make the coffee!!!
